To think that the USA is a dictatorship now?

Trump appears to have ultimate power. Who can challenge him? Who controls him? Presidents should not be dictating what drug companies charge for medicines on a whim, or indeed any other goods, at the drop of a hat. He says jump and the US says "How High?" What on earth have you done to yourselves and the world to let this evil, thick, orange toddler clown represent you? What the hell were you thinking?

Hahaha yeah it’s as a result of Russia 😂and yet the democrats with their Russiagate witch hunt ended up empty handed. And now you claim his wealth is due to Russia 😂yeah it is.

It really is.😬 Where do you think it came from?

Also Russia's funding of right wing, pro Trump propagandists on the internet is well known and widely accepted. Including by the RW Trupists who profited.🙈

You seem to be mixing left and right with authoritarian and liberal. People can be left wing and liberal, left wing and authoritarian, right wing and liberal, right wing and authoritarian. Trump is a right wing extreme authoritarian, i.e. a dictator. How often does he debate or listen to other people's views or accept that others have different views? Never.

He is not a dictator and the US is not a dictatorship - get a grip ffs.

I care, which is why I asked the question you are evading. You also didn't answer as the whether or not you think rape is prevalent in every country and every culture.

I was not saying you changed your position on Trump. I currently have no information on what it is because you refuse to say.
It appears you won't be clear about what your beliefs are, but you do tend to froth at the mouth about leftists and make silly generalizations about them. You have been sneeringly sarcastic to people who disagree with you as well. So a tentative conclusion about both your political leanings and character can be drawn from that and most especially from the anti-immigrant scaremongering propaganda you posted.

Carry on drawing your tentative conclusions. I find it odd that you care so much what one faceless stranger thinks. But anti-immigrant scaremongering propaganda is an amusing accusation, considering I’m an immigrant myself, and have been at several points in my life. It’s useful to have an outsider’s perspective on the UK. Brits spend an awful lot of time worrying about other people’s concerns instead of their own. It’s a shame; it was a great country, once.

It's the Reform racist fuckwits who are trying to divide the country, fomenting hatred, and the Brexit that they wanted, and the last government who were corrupt and incompetent. The reasonable and rational majority must rise up and fight the minority extremists.

Well that sounds sane

Indeed. The bingo card went into overdrive, there.

Hahahahaha well done for figuring it out, yes his wealth came from Russia and the democrats found out but kept quiet about it despite their witch hunt.

he has been a billionaire for ages now but according to you it’s all based on the Russiagate hoax.

I guess Russia owns all his properties and the golf course he just opened in Scotland a few weeks ago right? Or they gave him the money to build it so he can become president and sell the US to Russia?

It’s a shame you don’t work as an analyst for MI5 or some government think tank so you can enlighten the world with your intelligence.

I have no idea what the Russia Gate hoax is. I assume it's a hoax that sucked American folks in? I don't bother much with internet hoaxes.

I do know about Trump's reliance on Russian money, his self confessed repeat sex offences, his close friendships with paedophile, sex traffickers, Russian oligarchs and Putin.

I also know that Russia handsomely funded pro Trump Americans.

Maybe that's why you voted for him?

CerealForDinnerAgain · 16/08/2025 01:32

I’m an American living in the US.

Clearly most posters here have no idea wgat they are talking about. They’ve hr er lived here and never will. Do you think we even care what you think? Until you’re paying taxes here, it doesn’t matter.

But things are not so great in the UK either. Protest groups being classed as illegal. People being locked up for a casual tweet (that was subsequently removed). You can’t even choose what your own children take to school to eat at lunch time.

Hahahaha keep going with the conspiracy theories 😂

Explain how the reliance works? So Russia gives him money to invest in properties or how does it work?

Please enlighten us, you can’t just say his money comes from Russia without any additional details so share some light on how the money is linked to Russia.

As a Brit living in the US I’ve come to realize that Brits spend way too much time watching news about and reading about the US, an unhealthy amount of time and it’s all based on stereotypes and bias.

We have a crab mentality and shitting on the US is one way Brits use to avoid dealing with their problems.

The poster is upset that Eli Lilly is increasing the price of weight loss medicine in response to Trump’s executive order to lower prices for Americans so she throws a tantrum and declares that he is a dictator 😂

I am American, living in US, and I am horrified daily by ICE beating up people and sending them to Alligator Alcatraz and other detention camps, the attacks on Universities and anyone who tries to stand up for Palestinians, having military forces in Los Angeles and in Washington, D.C., and the list goes on and on. Yes, Trump is trying to be a dictator, and the courts are largely allowing him to do it. If I could figure out how to move somewhere else, I would do it.

Here is Trump Tower in Chicago, beautiful building and I’ve enjoyed a few drinks at the roof top bar.

Can you explain how the money he used to build it can be traced back to Russia?

Still the evasion. Since you said I can conclude all I like, I will. I assume that means you won't take offence.

Most likely the evasion means you do support Trump but don't have the stones to admit it because then you would indeed be revealed as a hypocrite. You won't answer the question about rape across cultures and nations because you know you posted a false statement about it, but you don't have the integrity to admit it and retract it.

You accused immigrants of being rapists right there in black and white. Have you forgotten you said that? It's easy to suss out what kind of immigrants you meant and that you are not of the same race as the alleged rapist immigrants, so your purported status as an immigrant is irrelevant. It's akin to the "some of my best friends are ___(insert race)" defence.

You seem to generalize about British people too, also with nothing to back it up. It's a flood of opinions with a drought of reasoning and facts behind them.

I was told a few days ago by someone who was travelling to Washington soon that they check your phone as you enter the country to see if you have any anti- Trump stuff on your social media. If you do they can and will refuse entry. So they are going to set themselves up with a completely blank phone. I was 😮
Do you believe everything people tell you? Do you honestly think immigration have time to do this?

They absolutely do. A young man I know was recently turned away and had his visa cancelled due to anti-Israel/semitic posts on his Instagram. He's a sportsman and it's basically tanked his career.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 16/08/2025 02:20

Haven't read the full thread, so don't know if the DC situation has been brought up.

When His Tangeriness invoked federal law and brought in the NG on the streets of the Capitol, I started a thread to ask what citizens on the ground felt / how they were being impacted, and it tanked with tumbleweed.....

Have been listening to various commentators, and seen some interesting stuff about his plans to tidy up the homeless using existing but old laws, which include institutionalising people for "vagrancy".

And he's talking about extending these powers / actions to other states.

I'm extremely surprised how sanguine everybody seems to be about these things.

I would really like to hear perspectives from MNetters living in DC.

He's been financially backed by Russia for years. After all his bankruptcies in the 90s, he rebuilt the empire with money from Russia. Took out massive loans when he couldn't secure finance in the US.

But he was taking Russian investment as far back as the 80s, none of this is secret. And as we know, Russian money does not move without the government saying so.

Couple of direct quotes from Jr on the Trump business...

"Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets, say, in Dubai, and certainly with our project in SoHo and anywhere in New York. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia."

"We don't rely on American banks [...] We have all the funding we need out of Russia"

So your proof is he sued Russian banks to finance some projects therefore Russia gave him his wealth and installed him as president 😂

AspiringChatBot · 16/08/2025 02:33

Trump appears to have ultimate power. He has a lot of power, but not more than US presidents before him (besides Biden) EXCEPT that he is now exempt from prosecution just because he is President.

Who can challenge him? Congress, state legislatures, the courts at all levels, the people, the international community, any critics.

Who controls him? No one who knows will say.

I'm less angry at the people that elected him on the ground and more angry at the people who can and should challenge him and do not.

A young man I know was recently turned away and had his visa cancelled due to anti-Israel/semitic posts on his Instagram. I'm not unhappy if virulent antisemites are turned away; we have plenty and don't need more. I wouldn't give Trump credit for this though, it goes back decades.
