You are odd

Very odd

Othersnotsomuch · 15/08/2025 19:49

And depressing to think you have children

IzzyHandsIsMySpiritAnimal · 15/08/2025 19:49

No.
Boys I assumed were gay turned out to be gay. Girls I assumed were gay turned out to be gay.
I've got very good gaydar.
Also, the kids I thought would turn out to be utter shits have turned out to be utter shits.
The kids I became friends with are still friends.
We left school 40 years ago.

Selfishshellfishies · 15/08/2025 19:51

2 I knew are still pretending they are straight yet clearly love steroids and looking buff for other men to fawn over on their socials. Always in the gym pumping with men rather than at home with wife and kids.

Mumofteenandtween · 15/08/2025 19:51

Not really.

Although all the anti establishment rebels that I met at Cambridge and who were going to live hard and die young whilst protesting against - well - everything are now married with 3 kids and working as accountants.

TesChique · 15/08/2025 19:54

No they erm...

...turned out to be gay.

TheCurious0range · 15/08/2025 19:56

No the two we thought were gay at school are, however my former boss (married) had an affair with a colleague (also married). When it all came out the biggest surprises to most people were that A he was married to a woman and B he was having an affair with another woman.

bellamorgan · 15/08/2025 19:58

No the gays where or are still gay or bi.

The weirdos boys are forever single long term some have a few kids dotted around by women they managed to sucker in.

The popular girls are all multiple baby daddies.

The nerdy girls / boys are all married with children and working very normal jobs think Asda and Tesco.

The not quite jock boys seemed to off settled with careers that involve a lot of travelling and no children or no children with currently travel partners leaving behind an equally successful women to carry the burden.

The Jock boys are stil players or trying with ever fading looks; with growing bellies and lack of hair.

RepoTheGeriatricOpera · 15/08/2025 20:01

I've never assumed anyone's sexuality because of my own sexuality, I've never really cared enough to speculate.

Everyone I assumed would grow up to be an arsehole has though.

You were an incredibly astute child!

Have you gone into a career that involves reading people?

iirbRosb · 15/08/2025 20:03

No the ones I thought were gay at school are gay; what surprises me more are the boys/men who were total players in their 20s being settled down - cam never decide if they really changed or not

Why’s it odd? I had 3 lovely friends jump to mind. All gay.

Huh?

and you tell us about your three “lovely” friends who are gay. Well, thanks for that

@IzzyHandsIsMySpiritAnimal

how do you know that the ones you thought were shits… are shits 40 years later?

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/08/2025 20:24

There weren't any boys at my school. Unless one of the boarders sneaked one in.

How does working out at the gym 'prove' that they must be gay?!

DontFeedTheDucks · 15/08/2025 20:48

I only know 1 in this situation. Always felt he was gay, married with 2 kids…. But I’ve seen him once leave a car with another man and they were still buttoning their trousers, sweaty, and another quick kiss when they looked around first but didn’t see me. So confident they’re not just friends. This is early in the morning, he must go the gym (and at least sometimes see his lover) before work. I’m not even usually out and about that early, yet I’ve seen him twice. Cheaters aren’t even that subtle.

I feel like in this day and age it can’t be terribly common for men(or women) to be in the closest like this? I’m surprised you know a few that you suspect this is the case, do you actually know/ seen them… I’m wondering if you’ve got an over excited gaydar or if it’s a lot more common than I thought.

neverbeenskiing · 15/08/2025 20:51

No because I don't tend to make assumptions about people's sexuality.

dogcatkitten · 15/08/2025 20:54

One boy who was clearly gay and came out shortly after leaving school. Lovely person

ShiftySquirrel · 15/08/2025 21:19

One of my best friends came out aged 19 or 20. It wasn't at all obvious. Some of his family were unsupportive shall we say, so he'd been very careful whilst we were at school.

I read this a few times
and concluded the same every time

Not the sharpest tool in the box

I mean they are lovely. That’s my memory.

It’s an anecdote. The post is screaming out for random anecdotes surely! What’s your issue?

Did you want a story where I thought they were gay and they weren’t? Not got one. Sorry.

This is weird

the op is asking if anyone “assumed” someone was gay at school who later married and have kids

and you say you have 3 lovely gay friends

ok

LouisaJG · 15/08/2025 21:57

It’s hilarious when straight people think they have gaydar.

The op is asking an explicit (albeit odd) question re assuming someone was gay at school who later marries and have kids

and you think it’s an invitation to mention an “anecdote” (this is an anecdote?!) you have 3 lovely gay friends 😆
