Dogs suddenly everywhere

AIBU to think since covid it's got a little out of control 😅 went to my local outlet centre today (MacArthur Glen) and they're now allowing all dogs into shops and restaurants. Totally get dog friendly places, you can choose not to go to them if you don't like them but feels a little wrong they're now just in shops. What if you have a fear or allergy? Or is it just me?

Sticky fingered children/adults coughing out their germs over open shelves in bakeries, so unhygienic.

A two second google has shown me that Brighton Pavilion cafe does not allow dogs indoors @BlueyNeedsToFuckOff . I’m sure there are plenty more to be found with a slightly longer google. I also discovered there is a group trying to get a dog free area re-established in a Brighton park - you could join them?

Really, it doesn’t take much imagination to find these places.

You also have to pay £19.50 to get into the Pavilion before you can use its cafe.

Like I said, I’m indifferent to dogs so don’t need to actively look for a dog-free cafe (I also don’t live in Brighton and don’t actually go there often) - but hopefully people who are saying it’s easy to find dog-free spaces everywhere can see from the example of Brighton that it actually isn’t. Unless you want to catch up in Greggs or Wetherspoons.

Onleemoi · 15/08/2025 14:17

You’re changing the goal posts. First there were no cafes, then they weren’t good enough and now they’re too good.

Hopefully you join the group campaigning for dog free areas in the park, you can then campaign for the right type of dog free cafe.

Why should I when I don’t want dog-free areas of a park?

The list that a pp posted had hardly “plenty” of cafes. Which is what everyone claims.

Would you like to be restricted to Greggs / M&S as your only cafe choice?

Thanks for taking the time to do that, but I think that proves my point a bit - nowhere for a nice coffee and catch up that’s dog-free then! In a city the size of Brighton you’d hope there would be more options.

I’ve definitely seen dogs on the dog-free bit of the beach as well, although I take your point that it should exist!

I hadn’t realised M&S cafe didn’t allow dogs so that might be useful to people who live near a nicer M&S if that’s a company-wide policy.

The list isn't exhaustive, it's an example after a very quick Google search.

Seeing as you weren't aware of the ones I've listed I'm sure you'll find many more dog free places if you look.

M&S don't allow dogs anywhere in any of their stores.

Churrchill Square Shopping Centre is full of cafes and shops and doesn't allow dogs. www.churchillsquare.com/en/

IKEA has a cafe - no dogs.
Waitrose cafe - no dogs.
The Botanist - no dogs in restaurant.

Dog free alternatives are definitely available if it is important to you.

Dogs in bakery with goods on open shelves - so unhygienic.

Bakeries with goods on open shelves are a bit of a germ risk (though far less so than the free for all of a Lidl or Tesco bakery section- ew). But it's not dogs who are touching and breathing over anything in baskets on the counter, sometimes lifting lids and glass domes off baskets and plates just so they can breathe on and touch them (without then buying them). I'll give you a clue- they are bipedal, generally 5ft+ and have opposable thumbs.

IceMaidenIceBear · 15/08/2025 14:33

Oh joy. Todays subject is poo 🙄

vodkaredbullgirl · 15/08/2025 14:35

I know it's shit 😂

DiordreBarlow · 15/08/2025 14:45

I've tried to be reasonable and contribute all through this thread but a quick read of the poo OP has really tired me out.

I feel another portrait gallery coming on.

And once again, the gallery steals the show! Can’t get enough! 🍿🥰

I find this whole thread strange. Imagine if OP posted that she was sick of being chatted up by pushy men. Would people spam her thread with photos of their “gorgeous” boyfriends and husbands?

You’re comparing dogs to pushy men? What happened to “dogs aren’t humans” 😂 Some of us are just here for the adorable dog pics, not the drama. 🐾

TheDogOnlyEatsBiscuitsIfTheyreDippedInTea · 17/08/2025 14:21

Some lovely photos. 😍

RunningNananananananananana · 17/08/2025 16:49

Went to a very nice pub/restaurant today, guess what OP... Dogs weren't allowed inside 😱

I must have found the only one in England/the UK since they're eVeRyWhErE 🤨

Where was this? I'll make sure to avoid it 😂

It’s not just dogs that are everywhere. I saw this horse in a pub the other week.

Look at its grim slobbery weird black mouthbollocks

I think he’s beautiful. Do you only approve of things that look like you? Show us a pic of you?

These photos just confirm how alien and ugly most dogs actually look.

I very much doubt that you would push one of mine out of the way. Or walk into them 😁

That poor dog, he's meant to be in the mountains with hundreds of acres doing his job and instead he's in sad little England being led around like a baby...

Yeah, they just hate lying in armchairs, having their own duvets, getting tummy tickles, being fed prime food and getting adulation and love and walkies and playtime galore, and not having to get wounded fighting fucking wolves or stand in the wet and cold every fucking night protecting the goats.

They hate it.

My herding dog often wakes up from her armchair and looks around as if to say, "God I wish I was sleeping in a draughty fucking cowshed in the wet and cold, but them's the breaks" before going back to sleep with all four paws in the air.😆

You do know that it’s entirely possible to have a dog as a pet and to give them a fulfilling life whilst being sympathetic to what they were originally bred for, right?
I have a working line Lab, I will never put my hands on a shotgun and go shooting birds mainly because I would be a rubbish shot but there is plenty I can do with him to mimic those conditions and give him a ‘job’ to do so he’s fulfilling his genetic purpose.
You sound very ill-informed when it comes to dogs. Either that or you’re on a wind up.
