AIBU to think since covid it's got a little out of control 😅 went to my local outlet centre today (MacArthur Glen) and they're now allowing all dogs into shops and restaurants. Totally get dog friendly places, you can choose not to go to them if you don't like them but feels a little wrong they're now just in shops. What if you have a fear or allergy? Or is it just me?

That poor dog, he's meant to be in the mountains with hundreds of acres doing his job and instead he's in sad little England being led around like a baby...

There are 180 mountains in England.

England's 10 national parks cover about 3.3million acres. Add on National Trust land, the 27,000 public parks, forestry land, common land, coast paths beaches and the 140,000 miles of public footpaths that's a tidy bit of dog walking.

Does someone have a poo bag handy to scoop what @flashspeed is talking?

Onleemoi · 17/08/2025 19:52

Would take a couple of bin liners I think. Absolute shite.

Ohdearwhatcanthematterb · 17/08/2025 19:57

I like quiet dogs but barky/reactive ones shouldn’t be in cafes/restaurants...

I have a dog, and I agree.
Some dogs are just not great in some spaces. The ones that are though, please continue to take them so I can say hi 😍

For all the people posting photos of their dogs - your house stinks.

...Waiting for the replies from people who keep their house super clean and it doesn't smell at all (it does)

You’ll never be invited round so don’t worry about it.

You are not in my house so I don't care.

If you can smell my house from here, it’s not my dogs that stink, it’s your top lip!

The list isn't exhaustive, it's an example after a very quick Google search.

Seeing as you weren't aware of the ones I've listed I'm sure you'll find many more dog free places if you look.

M&S don't allow dogs anywhere in any of their stores.

Churrchill Square Shopping Centre is full of cafes and shops and doesn't allow dogs. www.churchillsquare.com/en/

IKEA has a cafe - no dogs.
Waitrose cafe - no dogs.
The Botanist - no dogs in restaurant.

Dog free alternatives are definitely available if it is important to you.

But the dog haters HAVE to go into the dog friendly places, otherwise how can they whinge about all the dogs?! 😱

.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 17/08/2025 22:10

It's more or less impossible to avoid dogs where I live. Believe me, if I'm aware of a dog ban, the venue gets my customer (except for Spoons, I draw the line there).

An added bonus of having a dog is that you never have to go into a Spoons.

My dogs don’t have a scent. The beauty of owning a dog from the hound family -specifically dachshunds 🤩🤩

JackGrealishsBobbySocks · 17/08/2025 22:43

Oh we so need the laughing emoji for this!
You know what, I wipe down, vacuum
and mop daily. Wash dog bedding weekly.
I don’t GAF if miserable folk don’t want to visit my home. I’ve got a loving family and bloody gorgeous dogs. If we stink I don’t care.
My dogs are also well trained and don’t jump up, lick or beat nuisance. Probably do smell a bit but some people are worse.

VanGoSunflowers · 18/08/2025 09:01

My house smells of my dog’s farts 😂

Ohdearwhatcanthematterb · 18/08/2025 09:04

Gosh there’s some real dog haters aren’t there. I think most dogs are lovely and add a nice vibe to a space. I have a lovely Labrador myself and she makes so many people happy 😊 . I don’t take her to eating places though as she doesn’t like it and she’s quite big.

My issues are - yappy and barky dogs, dogs on chairs in restaurants, and huge dogs taking up too much space, also dogs that are off lead and just wander around. I think these give the rest of dogs a bad name. Which is a shame. I think the majority of people like dogs but unfortunately some entitled owners spoil it.

PeonyPatch · 19/08/2025 19:55

Here are my dogs again 🥰
