Dogs suddenly everywhere

AIBU to think since covid it's got a little out of control 😅 went to my local outlet centre today (MacArthur Glen) and they're now allowing all dogs into shops and restaurants. Totally get dog friendly places, you can choose not to go to them if you don't like them but feels a little wrong they're now just in shops. What if you have a fear or allergy? Or is it just me?

Here’s my contribution. Belongs to a neighbour but he likes spending time round at ours.

You'd hate our local village pub/restaurant OP

Dogs very welcome and the leashed "rule" has become somewhat relaxed. They just mooch about. It's all us villagers anyway and the dogs and people know each other.

Non locals/first time visitors are sometimes surprised though 😂

Pinkgiraffe34567 · 15/08/2025 08:01

I’ve never heard of this, a dog in a shop that’s not a garden centre or pets store sounds crazy to me, especially in a clothing store. Wouldn’t their fur get everywhere?

Sounds like my local. I love it.

And if I didn’t love it, I’d simply not go. I wouldn’t expect those people’s lives and routines to change for me.

Yawn.

I love dogs (had one growing up and lots of family dogs too). However, there are definitely dogs everywhere now...pubs, children's parks, zoos, seaside. Why people need to take their dog to the zoo with them i have no idea!!

DiordreBarlow · 14/08/2025 21:34

It is almost definitely just me, but I can't help but think that @Marvs lovely girl and @Welshmiss10 's beautiful pupper would make an amazing TV detective duo.

Two dogs, one mission. DO. NOT. MESS.

I agree. Bit like Dogtanion and the Muskahounds 🤣

I think it’s just highly regional.

I’m indifferent to dogs, but trying and failing to think of anywhere in Brighton (my nearest city) where I could meet for a coffee with someone who didn’t like dogs, and I know there’s nowhere in my local town. The odd garden centre has a dog-free section but if you don’t drive that’s not helpful (and is often ignored anyway)

Places in Brighton where dogs are not allowed:-

The three Wetherspoons pubs
Marks and Spencer cafe
The Ivy Asia
McDonalds
Brighton Palace Pier
Greggs
Bella Italia (dogs only allowed outside)
Wagamama
Vast swathes of Brighton beach between May and the end of September.

If you name your local town I'll try to help with that too.

Wow, how did she sneak in 😱😉

I would leave your doors open more often, you may even be lucky enough to acquire another ❤️

JackGrealishsBobbySocks · 15/08/2025 11:27

IceMaiden, I am getting serious "cute aggression" from that picture. SO FLUFFY.🤬

I found a dog in the fecking river at 6 o'clock this morning.

Not sure but she had very soggy paws as if she'd had a long walk through wet grass to get here.

You reckon? Do they multiply like Gremlins when they get wet? Might be worth a try...🤔

Onleemoi · 15/08/2025 11:36

It’s not just dogs that are everywhere. I saw this horse in a pub the other week.

@Onleemoi Wow! Gorgeous!

That's another good challenge for the pp that likes to push dogs away or walk into them. Let's hope she's working hard in the gym 😁

Or the supergran who’d kill a dog with her bare hands for glancing at her grandkids.

Thanks for taking the time to do that, but I think that proves my point a bit - nowhere for a nice coffee and catch up that’s dog-free then! In a city the size of Brighton you’d hope there would be more options.

I’ve definitely seen dogs on the dog-free bit of the beach as well, although I take your point that it should exist!

I hadn’t realised M&S cafe didn’t allow dogs so that might be useful to people who live near a nicer M&S if that’s a company-wide policy.

Tutorpuzzle · 15/08/2025 13:06

A two second google has shown me that Brighton Pavilion cafe does not allow dogs indoors @BlueyNeedsToFuckOff . I’m sure there are plenty more to be found with a slightly longer google. I also discovered there is a group trying to get a dog free area re-established in a Brighton park - you could join them?

Really, it doesn’t take much imagination to find these places.

Ineedpeaceandquiet · 15/08/2025 13:19

Dogs in bakery with goods on open shelves - so unhygienic.
