Dogs suddenly everywhere

AIBU to think since covid it's got a little out of control 😅 went to my local outlet centre today (MacArthur Glen) and they're now allowing all dogs into shops and restaurants. Totally get dog friendly places, you can choose not to go to them if you don't like them but feels a little wrong they're now just in shops. What if you have a fear or allergy? Or is it just me?

It is almost definitely just me, but I can't help but think that @Marvs lovely girl and @Welshmiss10 's beautiful pupper would make an amazing TV detective duo.

Two dogs, one mission. DO. NOT. MESS.

Oh god - again with this shit!

This pretty much proves my point how dog people don't care and seem to think everyone loves dogs..wasn't a 'goady' thread at all, sorry if it was taken that way. Did any of you consider that some people don't actually like them and not want them in shops 😅 that's all this was, to see if anyone felt the same way but they clearly don't on MN 🤣😅

Business owners wouldn’t do anything unless it improves profit and footfall, and letting dogs into places does improve it.

DiordreBarlow · 14/08/2025 21:38

You are so right @Tutorpuzzle . It's a commercial decision for businesses. The Pup Pound.

Our local White Stuff is so dog friendly I can't take my girl in there any more because it's like we only go in to extort gravy bones out of the staff.

BeepBoopBop · 14/08/2025 21:39

My beautiful girl, who’s back legs don’t work anymore…

Mine love a wander round McArthurGlen, lots of other dogs so lots of doggy smells. Puppacinos in 200 degrees coffee

I have a service dog. If you had any idea how often I have arguments about what the law says in service dogs, you would not be posting goady threads about dogs being everywhere. My dog is allowed everywhere. It's the law. And I am fed up of reporting businesses for refusing us access. Every - sodding-week.

I know we’re three pages in and the OP has flounced, but what I never get on these threads is that it’s nothing to do with dogs or dog owners but entirely down to the proprietors of the shops/ cafes etc. If allowing dogs brings in more cash then that’s what they’re going to do! It’s really not hard to understand. Plenty of places don’t allow dogs. Go to them 🙄.

In other news, what a gallery of beautiful boys and girls. Gorgeous, one and all 😍.

I've not flounced, more like been drowned out which I know is the purpose 😅 just cracks me up how defensive everyone is, all well saying don't go to where they are, my post said they're starting to be everywhere so harder to avoid. Apologies to those who are so easily offended, no I didn't check if there was already a post on this. Will leave it now as I can see I'm in the minority on MN for sure, hope you all enjoy the dog pictures 🫠😅

YourDandyPlumBeaker · 14/08/2025 21:55

I agree. They are allowed pretty much everywhere now, including shops and restaurants. I don't have particularly strong feelings about them one way or another. Some are quite cute, some bothersome, and some just stay in the background.

I think there is a dog boom at the moment, but once these die off I reckon we'll see the overall dog population go down, as many people who currently have these dogs won't want the hassle and expense all over again.

You’re surrounded by the lovely pooches, even on here! 😁

Mum was a blue merle lurcher, dad was a fawn whippet from a long line of show dogs. So he's just a lurcher really!

I mean YANBU in your observation as even I a virtual hermit have noticed it but I think businesses feel obliged to to attract that extra business. So many people and families have dogs that they take everywhere with them that it does make business sense.

However, I only see droves of dogs if I ever go on a rare weekend away to some tourist spot. And selfishly for me as a single person no dogs myself, I bloody love it haha. I find myself literally stalking them sometimes 😅 and then check if the owner isn’t stressed and looks friendly and ask if I can pet any that take my eye by which I mean I’m interested in owning. Honestly it just boosts my mental health not even being dramatic. Especially great as most the time the owners are chatty and tell you a bit about them and their nature and it’s just lovely social interactions for me. My fave interaction was a little spaniel pup walking well ahead of me but kept looking back at me and as I got closer tried to engage me in a game of chase lol - urgh so cute! The owner seemed really embarrassed though so I just told her her dog was adorable and passed by. Can’t wait to own one myself at some point 😌

BerryTwister · 14/08/2025 21:58

YANBU OP.
And twice as many people agree with you as disagree with you, according to the poll. But this is MN where people love their animals more than their kids, so it was only to be expected that the thread would be filled with “ooh look at my gorgeous hound, how can you not want him in every room you ever go in”. It’s sadly predictable.

Stunning. I love the different neck gear too, never seen any like that before.

Aw, that’s lovely. What kind would you like?

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 14/08/2025 22:01

Think most dog owners these days are entitled twats but that’s not the dogs fault. No animal should be cocking its leg in a shop. Waiting for the children comparison. That’s always the next step. 🤣

He just wears a house collar with his ID tag on and a regular collar for walks on top. Admittedly rather pretentious ones though. 😂

@Doihavetogotoworkdotcom1 I hate to break it to you but that’s a dog, not a baby.

Look how unbalanced the anti dog people are coming across. Random laughing emojis to prove they’re not really uptight.

Zov · 14/08/2025 22:09

More lovely doggo pics .. Keep 'em coming. Some gorgeous fur babies here. 😍

I know how that (fur babies) annoys the dog haters! Wink
