To think that white British/ American etcmen are just as much a threat to women as migrants?

malificent7 · 08/08/2025 12:47

I am not excusing grooming, paedophile sex rings and unmonitored immigration at all but I hate all these protests.
I know that my white male ex teacher is a sex offender. Not to mention the Epstein scandal.
Aibu to think that ALL men are a danger to women...not just men of different ethnicities/ religions etc?

So what other “needs” should we meet. I think anything outside of basic needs is a want.

Don't be silly. You know the difference between basic needs and all your needs.

Well that’s where we should be focusing our energy. If everyone had fled England everytime groups of people were in danger, where would our society be now?

People need to sort their own countries out. We cannot support the numbers coming here, if people do come here they need to appreciate that they need to fully integrate and understand exactly what that means

Edited

Danger would mean you're in danger of being killed by the government for joining an opposing political party or showing hair in Iran. Perhaps we shouldn't invade other countries or interfere with their politics and then they wouldn't be in danger.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 11/08/2025 11:42

As a matter of interest how can we make sure that we drastically cut down the numbers coming here. It’s clear this is not sustainable. Financially, socially or culturally.

so what do people suggest we do?

Lovely hotel! 🙄

Many are 4*

I'm afraid human rights apply across the board. Criminals can be returned to any place if they're not going to be tortured or in danger. That isn't the major flaw with the plan though.

So Labour are lying when they claim that they'll deport them. Thanks for confirming.
This is why many have zero faith in this government to tackle this issue.

Are they? Can you name a couple?

It's very complex and not easily solved. There are two issues here. A. The amount of visas we give out annually is not sustainable. B. We need to clear the 40k asylum backlog, process claims quicker, work with other countries to curtail smuggling gangs and find more suitable accommodation for those being processed. France are instrumental in finding a solution.

Which government would you put your faith in instead?

Who do you think will be able to deport people to countries without agreement?

Yes I can. The Britannia Canary Wharf and Crowne Plaza West Drayton.

That's not strictly true. A criminal can be deported if they're not in danger in their home country, not all criminals are refugees. The flaw is that they won't necessarily serve their sentence once deported. However, if your aim is to save costs and get people out of the country, it will be effective.

Do posters know how stars are awarded?

BIossomtoes · 11/08/2025 12:09

The West Drayton place looks like a travel lodge. I imagine it scraped four stars because it’s got a pool which will now be closed.

Ok split hairs if you wish, I could give more examples but there would no doubt be more faux disbelief thrown at it so I won’t bother.

Without hotel staff and services, a 4* hotel room is just a room.

Not really. 4 stars are also given for location, food, quality of rooms/bathrooms. Presumably asylum seekers are getting access to all this even if not the swimming pools?

It’s in France’s interest to work with us as they have the issues of migrants trying to get here too.

None.
Which is why we need a deterrent rather than trying (and failing) to deport people who have already arrived.

ETA: We should also be putting pressure on countries who refuse refuse by restricting visas and aid.

TheNuthatch · 11/08/2025 13:09

Refuse returns

TopPocketFind · 11/08/2025 13:19

You have been reading Jenrick's article by the sound of it.

What deterrent do you propose?

PandoraSocks · 11/08/2025 13:23

JamesMacGill · 10/08/2025 14:18

I’m not wary of all Muslims, but I am absolutely wary of the effects of Islam on women, the West, and frankly the world. You would have to be insane not to be - we have 40,000 people in the UK alone on the terrorism watch list. Our biggest threat is Islamism. But yep, let’s allow tens of thousands of unvetted men from high risk countries to join us, we would be silly not to be fine with it.

I don't think James is here now, but this is a lie.

There are not "40,000 people in the UK alone" on the "terrorism watch list". Here are the actual facts.

Was that to me?

Assuming it was, no I haven't read Jenrick's article. It's not my job to propose anything, but the only proposal I have seen to date which might make a difference is Rwanda.

A question to all who say the UK just needs a deterrent.

Rwanda is just another brexit imo. Empty promises.

You send the 300 people there and the deterrent is gone.
And Rwanda refugees would be granted asylum here in exchange.

And ofcourse there are the questions of legality and announcing Rwanda is now a safe country.

TopPocketFind · 11/08/2025 13:49

It could have been Philps who said that about refusing visas and aid

Or both

I have no idea which article you are referring to. Whoever wrote it, I haven't read it.

Labour are also trying to source a third country for processing etc. That won't work as it will be very quickly overwhelmed imo, but they are trying to offshore migrants. It was in Labour's manifesto. Perhaps they should have tried Rwanda first as so much taxpayer £ had already been spent?
