To think that white British/ American etcmen are just as much a threat to women as migrants?

malificent7 · 08/08/2025 12:47

I am not excusing grooming, paedophile sex rings and unmonitored immigration at all but I hate all these protests.
I know that my white male ex teacher is a sex offender. Not to mention the Epstein scandal.
Aibu to think that ALL men are a danger to women...not just men of different ethnicities/ religions etc?

Asylum agreements with the EU will have a impact and this pilot scheme with France is a start.

A start to what? That SM video was all bluster and theatre. The next couple of days over 500 people thought the same, ‘you won’t stay’ rhetoric is empty. I’d say Starmer is underestimating the intelligence of pretty much everyone, including those selling or using crossings.

Because most they will use human rights law to stay. In a nutshell. Also the agreement with France has a measly 10 months to run. Nearly over before it’s started.

Edited

It's a pilot scheme, it can be extended.

Are you one of those people wanting to leave the ECHR?

Yes the “agreement” doesn’t seem to be acting as a deterrent does it?

As we learn 25,000 undocumented migrants have arrived by boat so far this year ie a medium sized town, it’s clear we need to get much more robust on this issue. We simply cannot sustain these numbers.

We need to remove ourself from the ECHR if that is causing an issue. We need to make the UK a much less appealing place to come.

  1. arriving on the shores undocumented without a visa means never getting citizenship
  2. we need accommodation away from society until we can verify who these people are and be sure their values align with British values and they are willing to fully integrate The time could be used to educate on British values, culture and language.
  3. if the criteria on which they claim asylum changes then they should be deported. Eg if a man claims asylum on the basis he is gay snd subsequently marries or enters a relationship with a woman it as could be deemed he no longer needs to seek asylum.

How will withdrawing from the ECHR help?

The UK-France deal has only started last week Confused

Yes. It started last week and the numbers the past week have been higher than ever.

Yes, 435 people crossed the channel on Saturday. They don't seem deterred.

TopPocketFind · 11/08/2025 09:57

No instant success = scrap the scheme.

It sounds like some people would prefer the boat crossing to keep happening just to bash Labour and to have handy scapegoats.

Farage has nothing beyond 'stop the boats'

You actually believed that a scheme that started last week would already have made an impact?

How long should we give it? As you keep asking questions let me ask you.

It’s crazy to talk about London as if it were one homogeneous city.

You have some of the very richest and very poorest areas in the country within London.

There are also less asylum seekers per population in London than the North East. Even lower in the South West as a whole.

Asylum seekers per 10,000 population (March 2025)

London 21.2
South West has the lowest rate at 7.2
North East 27.6

Evidently more than a week. How many did the Rwandan scheme deter?

Asylum seekers are placed around the country to share the cost and since the north is cheaper than the south, many are placed there.

I think this too!
Who will they pick on once the numbers start to fall (and they will).

Farage especially has a lot of skin in this game…

You seem to want to set this up as some sort of competition. Rwanda vs Starmer’s deal. Rwanda had only just got off the ground when Labour scrapped it.

Now paused in the North East. It seems the protests are working.

A campaigner holds a 'Say No To HMOs' sign, written on cardboard. Only the protester's arm, in a khaki anorak, and parts of their hands are visible. Another person, partially visible, stands beside them.

North East asylum seeker accommodation search paused

The Home Office says it believes it has enough properties in the region for asylum seekers.

MiloMinderbinder925 · 11/08/2025 10:06

It didn't deter them from making the journey or risking their lives, some simply went to Ireland.

BIossomtoes · 11/08/2025 10:06

So it didn’t deter any, it just made those asylum seekers already here and claiming asylum in Northern Ireland cross the border.

Mr Durma said one of the major issues facing asylum seekers in the region was many were housed in rural housing with little support or access to services.

This is a major problem but the government find the cheapest accommodation. The whole system needs to be restructured.

Considering it never actually started, I think it did rather well looking at the figures in the article I posted. A third of over 5K people was blamed on the threat of Rwanda.
USA have now signed a deal with Rwanda. A list of 10 migrants has been sent to Rwanda for vetting according to the Rwanda gov. Denmark and Germany also interested. We can all watch whilst the facilities we paid for are used by other countries.
