Why does everyone say they love being fat until they get their hands on skinny jabs?

I’m seeing this so much on social media. People screaming from the rooftops how they love their bodies. Hate comments come and they combat them with body positivity, I admired them so much.

Lately though, the very people who were oh-so-body-positive are popping back up five stone lighter. Some comment on it and some don’t, as if they’re waiting for people to ask. Hang on a minute, I thought you loved your big body? Did you love being fat or not?

I hope you are correct.

Correct about what - prices coming down? No guarantees obviously but history suggests that's what will happen.

Skinny jabs botox and fillers will all come crashing down in the end.
When a lot of people wake up about it and realise its not all what it seems.

Sounds like you’ll be pleased when that happens!

Correct about it not having disastrous long term side effects.

1 large apple is not 134 calories.

a 223g apple is around 116cals, so not far off

People have been getting botox and filler for 25-30 years without issues. But okay then I will wait for the crash.

No i wont, last time i spoke up on MN about it i was torn down so i wont do that again.
But my sister is going through a hell of a time with all the above and i tried to tell people about it on hear.
But got abuse instead.

1 large apple is not 134 calories.

Plenty of online sources suggest they are. Two digestives then? One and a bit bananas? A bag of ready salted crisps?
My point is that one small snack a day above you calorie requirements is a stone gained per year.

What?! Being fat is absolutely a choice.

Im overweight but not obese. I could do with losing a few kg.

However in order to be the size of some of the body positivity movement women (easily 10 stone overweight) i have no idea how to get that size. I have no idea how i would be able to eat that much in order to be that size.

It is a choice

I’m about 10st ish overweight.

I’ve got there with a binge eating disorder due to trauma, very high levels of stress, ingrained emotional eating, interoception issues (I never feel full), and possibly a large dose of my life is so shit that nothing I can do to myself can make it worse.

I don’t know anyone with that much weight to lose who doesn’t have deep seated psychological problems which manifest as binge eating. And there lies the problem of losing it. When you have a stressful life and the only thing that brings you comfort is food, it’s nigh on impossible to lose weight and stick to it - as studies have shown.

Mounjaro is like a miracle drug to people like me. I’ve noticed there’s a real taboo about being open about it, because some can react nastily, like you’re taking an easy option, and we all know that there are people out there who’d rather see really fat people suffer as their punishment for daring to be fat. For some though it’s the only option.

I could always lose without WLIs, maintenance was my issue

But the losing had to become obsessive. I fought hunger the whole way. I would have convince my brain that feeling hunger was pleasurable / desirable / winning. It had to be ED mentality even if I wasn't under eating too drastically calorie wise. It was never sustainable

Because I was NEVER NOT HUNGRY. If I ate a sandwich for lunch, it felt like I had eaten nothing all day. So I would add crisps, a banana, a coffee, a juice, just to feel like I had eaten SOMETHING. Anything at all. 3 coffees after that just to keep me going through the afternoon.

I felt the same at 9 stone as at 13 stone. It did not go away just because I pushed through it and lost weight.

All I'm doing by taking WLIs is making myself feel how YOU feel, if you eat a normal breakfast, a normal lunch, a normal snack and a normal dinner. I couldn't even achieve that level of satisfaction by OVER eating without WLIs.

I expect to be on WLIs long term
If you don't get it, well, see how YOU feel? That's all we are aiming for on WLIs

My friend took WLIs and she said that she didnt feel any appetite suppressant effect whatsoever.

She stayed on it for a year as she was advised to let the drug build up in her system.

She said that she didn't feel any effect, and she didn't lose any weight.

This is the truth of it. And if they haven’t had to suffer to get thin, then people are just desperately waiting for some moment in the future when they suffer as a result of the medication used to get thin.

I think it'll be the exact opposite and go the way of HRT

Think of the generation that was scared into taking it and told to suffer and suck it up instead?

It was horrific, women lost jobs, relationships, their mobility, even their lives, when there was a safe drug available all along!

They were told it was lazy and dangerous to use HRT.

If we are quoting history repeating itself, I raise you HRT!

PinkArt · 08/08/2025 13:29

MyLimeGuide · 08/08/2025 13:17

Correct about it not having disastrous long term side effects.

There haven't been any reports of disastrous long term side effects in the people who've been using them for 20 years and counting. Which is great news, isn't it?
Obviously, like any medication, there are potential side effects, some of which are more serious than others. That rightly didn't stop the roll out of the pill (risk of pulmonary embolism or DVT) or ibuprofen ( risk of kidney failure, black tarry stools) or the gazillion other life enhancing medications with long lists of side effects.

I come back to this all the time. People only show 'concern' for the side effects of medication they aren't taking when it relates to obesity.

Of course they don't

They treat abnormal food (and other addictive consumables) feedback loops

If that isn't your problem, they won't fix you, and will just give you problems

Like if you treat any deficiency that you don't in fact have

They're not for everyone, but they work for a lot of people

VeryStressedMum · 08/08/2025 13:32

They may have during that time wanted to lose weight but as it wasn't happening for whatever reason they just loved the body they had. No point living life hating yourself. But then the 'magic' injection came along and there was a way to lose weight so they did.

The 22 million pounds that the pharma company spent on promoting the drug in the UK, definitely worked anyway.

People go on about it here like its a wonder drug.

Then she didn't need it. GLP-1 wasn't her problem

Don't take iron if your not anaemic

We KNOW WLIs are NOT for everyone

All the people who feel naturally, how we feel ON WLIs, who tell us we don't need em, remind us all the time that not everybody needs WLIs
