Do you believe there will be a civil war?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and I wonder if others feel the same. With everything going on, from the arrival of illegal migrants in small boats to a government that seems powerless, and with Farage gaining popularity because people are fed up, it feels like tension is rising across the country.

People are frustrated. You try to raise concerns and are instantly labelled a racist or bigot, even when your worries are about integration, safety, and national identity, not race. It feels like any honest conversation is being shut down.

There are parts of the UK where people who were born and raised here no longer feel at home. In some areas, if you are not part of the dominant local community, you can feel completely out of place or even unsafe walking alone at night. That is not right in your own country.

It is not just about people coming from Muslim-majority countries or those arriving illegally. There are also large numbers of Eastern Europeans, including Bulgarians, Romanians, and Russians. Many work hard and contribute, but there are also communities forming where people keep to themselves, speak no English, and make no effort to integrate. Some of these areas are experiencing rising antisocial behaviour, crime, and a breakdown of community life.

You can find videos online showing the state of some of these areas, with rubbish piling up, people ignoring the rules, and no sign of enforcement. It looks lawless, and it often is. But speaking about it honestly is considered of limits.

I live next to a Muslim family and they are wonderful people. Friendly, respectful, hardworking. So this is not about judging individuals. This is about a wider pattern where people are arriving, not integrating, and changing the fabric of our country in ways no one voted for.

We are a Christian country with our own traditions, values, and way of life. Why is it seen as wrong to want to preserve that? If we moved to Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria, or Russia, we would be expected to adapt to their culture. So why is it unacceptable to ask the same here?

The anger and division in this country are growing. I do not want unrest or conflict, but I cannot ignore what feels like a serious shift. When ordinary people feel ignored for too long, things eventually boil over.

Is anyone else feeling this? Or are we just not allowed to talk about it anymore?

I’ve often wondered if the Brits learn Arabic in Dubai or Spanish in Spain when they live in enclaves?

Hmmm. Few

SilverpetalShine · 04/08/2025 23:05

No. I believe people are beginning to recognize that communities are becoming vulnerable to having hate stirred up within them and are beginning to inoculate themselves against hate peddlers.

I don't understand how there could possibly be a civil war? Who are the two sides that will be fighting each other? It's just a stupid thing to say tbh.

More likely there would be civil unrest which will bring the anarchists and unemployed thugs out. They'll smash some stuff up and burn some cars in a completely pointless show of mindless violence.

Edited

I think that progressive liberals (of which I am one) make a mistake when they dismiss the concerns of everyday people and attempt to “other” them by using broad stroke brush labels of racism/propaganda/conspiracy.

A prime example is with trans rights, labelling feminists groups as “hateful bigots” instead of coming to the table to resolve practical concerns for safety for women.

It’s a way to try to control debate that doesn’t work in the long term and actually weakens protections for us all, and pushes people into the arms of parties like reform.

I think we dismiss protesters as thugs etc at our peril - they are a symptom of a much wider issue and we need to work together to find solutions rather than vilify people who are frustrated and feel that they aren’t being listened to so they have to resort to violence - which isn’t actually pointless or mindless but rather a sign that there is clearly a massive disconnect that needs to be resolved.

When a country becomes a free for all, when we embrace everything and not protect our values then civil war is inevitable.

We are a Christian country and our values as a nation should be primarily based around Christianity. Not another faith. Individuals should have the freedom to choose and practice their own faith, but the state itself should be basing itself around the Christian beliefs.

Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey were once all Christian countries. All had civil war.

WTF is a "Christian value" in this day and age?

Why the hell do we need Sky Fairy glitter to instil basic decency in people?

The bottom line is that within "Christianity" is the commandment "Thou shalt not kill", and yet millions of people have died at the hands of Christians for even disagreeing slightly with "Christian" dogma, or for other alleged transgressions such as owning cats and practising herbalism.

Away with your "Christian" values, because they're not in your context, they're a tool of fear and oppression.

So tell me

Is it right when so many of our police are overwhelmed and attacked and sometimes injured by

FAR RIGHT SUPPORTERS

Do you support that?

Because I watched that happen only a few days ago as we all did.., and it wasn’t antifa stamping on the police vans was it

Why are you asking me if I support violence against the police and criminal damage?

NautilusLionfish · 04/08/2025 23:09

@exhaustedandwholly civil war? Who will be fighting whom?
Tommy Robinson likes Spain too much so I don't see him leading a rebel army. There's you and a few other mumsnetters, too busy posting hate online to go to battle. Then there are porn addicts, Netflix addicts and those too bust trying to find distinction because smashed avocado on sourdough is no longer unique enough. Naaaah I wouldn't worry about civil war just yet.

Ticktockk · 04/08/2025 23:09

Those countries haven’t been Christian for CENTURIES. Hardly relevant

Mellowisp · 04/08/2025 23:09

Mainstream media are not covering the protests. Unrest is growing and it needs to if that's the only way the government will listen.

@Over40Overdating I love a good craft beer of the fruity type but I will be making batches of Gin in my still, still got a load of potatoes that were 9p a bag at Christmas to use up, might be useful for wound cleansing as well as palate cleansing Grin

"When a country becomes a free for all, when we embrace everything and not protect our values then civil war is inevitable."

A 'free for all'?

In what sense a 'free for all'? You mean like the riots in Southport? Drunk white people attacking the police and trying to firebomb a hotel? I 100% agree we should stamp down on that shit hard. Grateful to Starmer for acting quickly and decisively on it.

"We are a Christian country"

In 2021 less than half the country identified as Christian.

Only 6% of British people regularly attend church.

Over half of all children born in England and Wales were born to women who were not married or in a civil partnership.

Only 12% of children are baptised into the Christian church.

That said, I live in an area where there are a vast number of tiny Black churches, lots of seventh day adventists and Baptists. The majority of new Christian churches in the SE are African led. West Indian and African immigrants to the UK are stopping the Christian faith in this country dying on its arse. 😀

"and our values as a nation should be primarily based around Christianity"

Like 'welcome the stranger'?

Or are you thinking more of Old Testament values like engaging in rape, genocide and slavery, and promoting misogyny and homophobia?

I agree with you. Along with all the hate peddlers goes misogyny, discrimination against the poor. Education systems which rob poor children of aspirations and futures and then people wail when they express displeasure regarding those discriminations.

What do you want the government to listen to? I’ll tell you for nothing that it’s more likely to listen to reasoned arguments than a rabble outside a hostel.

The thing is though that lots of countries literally don’t take people or anywhere near the amount of people we do. So why is it that we are out of line for not being like yeah come on in to everyone but other countries are totally fine for it? So why, when we actually do invite a lot of immigrants coming from both illegal and legal routes compared to a lot of countries, are we all arseholes who oooh wouldn’t it be funny if we all got stuck needing asylum during a war?? Si

I’ve been in a field all weekend having a lovely time with a bunch of diverse lefties so I’m going to go easy on you. This is utter rubbish…we have approx 1 asylum seeker per 125 people in the UK vs 1 per 80 on average in the EU. We are not even close to being the highest. Where did you hear that?

Pretty sure I wouldn’t if they’re all like you. I’ll stick to my local multicultural primary school, Afghan, Pakistani, and Mexican restaurants, and Nigerian nurses and doctors, thanks.

I think what is meant here by ‘Christian values’ is flower arranging, church fetes, the WI and singing Jerusalem (but please don’t really bring your Middle Eastern values to our green and pleasant land)

Yes, it certainly exposed a lot of left leaning women to how violent and aggressive people on the "progressive" and "right side of history" are.

Some of the experiences we went through over that were unbelievable really.

Screaming fascist at middle aged women meeting to discuss a public consultation on a law run by the government was an eye opener.

We remain "far right extremists" to this day apparently, and the supreme court and the EHRC are far right too since the judgment in For Women Scotland.

Biological sex is a far right dog whistle to Labour and the Lib Dems.

Calling people far right no longer has credibility. I'm a boring Human Resources manager.

Discussion of the economic and social impact of immigration is my latest far right bigotry apparently.
