Many years ago Marks & Spencer sold a cheese and apple sandwich. It was grated cheese mixed with some kind of mayonnaise and with chunks of apple. It was amazing. Then it stopped and it never returned.

Would I be unreasonable to email their head office to ask for them to reintroduce it?

Kellogg’s Puffa Puffa Rice cereal
Coffee matchmakers
Coffee walnut whips
Walkers spring onion crisps

No one ever remembers these but our school tuck shop used to sell crisps called Chinese spare rib. They came in quite a posh black packet. Late 1980s, anyone remember these?

I do! My Mum wouldn’t buy them, but they always looked very posh 😆

Houndsahollering · 05/08/2025 06:29

Sainsbury’s piccolos
Sainsburys ready salted potato triangles
Refreshers ice lollies - they were like £1 for 5 and they were soooo tasty!
Crunchie ice cream bars (crunchie blast is just not as good)
Hagen Daaz vanilla chocolate fudge ice cream
Sunbites lightly salted crackers. I could eat a multipack in one sitting 😂

Heinz cucumber spread, my DH bought some recently from our local £ shop so it is still made, it had an English label as well.

Roystonv · 05/08/2025 07:25

Was it Cicotrin (sp?) a pp mentioned. The medical powder that worked so well on sores? My fil was a gp and he used it once on my dd's horrendous nappy rash in 1988. Withdrawn because it was carcinogenic.

Marks used to sell a delicious prawn layered salad. There were other varieties too like cheese

They still sell the prawn one! I can’t find the cheese one anywhere though!

Herbal Sensations dandruff shampoo, in a green bottle with different coloured caps depending on your hair type, white for normal, green for greasy, brown for dry. It literally made your scalp tingle.

I used to eat tons of this stuff with cheese spread in sandwiches.
Have a look on Amazon! I recently bought three jars. It's still a thing in Holland apparently.

Cabana bars
Black Sheep brewery choc & orange stout

Myblueclematis · 05/08/2025 08:29

I still miss Angel Delight, mint chocolate flavour, have never seen it back on the shelves. I used to buy it in the early 70s. Loved it.

Myblueclematis · 05/08/2025 08:48

There was another dessert you whipped up with milk called Instant Whip. I haven't come across it in any shops but haven't looked that hard for it so may still be going.

My dad used to ask if Kunzel cakes were still around. I did try to find them but they also seem to have gone completely.

I saw Joosters jelly beans in a shop called Mr. Price last week. I think the company is only in Ireland, though.

No way!!!!!!!!! Oh my word what I wouldn’t give . . .

I loved Kunzle cakes. They didn't travel well on picnics though-the chocolate shell tended to melt.

About 30+ years ago Sarah Kennedy (early mornings on BBC Radio 2) got Waitrose to bring Kunzel cakes back. Don't think they lasted very long though.
This was when the Waitrose at Newark was the furthest north branch and Morrisons Newark was the furthest south.

badhairmum · 05/08/2025 10:43

Years ago M&S did Baked potato and butter flavour crisps and I still dream of them bringing them back.

GellerYeller · 05/08/2025 13:12

M and S do an ice magic product, it’s in the aisle with the jams and dessert sauces!
i need them to reinstate the cappuccino Swiss roll though. The coffee one isn’t the same.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 05/08/2025 16:26

Peach Angel delight 80s or 90s iirc.It was lovely and noone else remembers it.

Illegally18 · 05/08/2025 17:35

deeahgwitch · 04/08/2025 06:39

M&S did a delicious milk chocolate bar with dried raspberries. The milk chocolate had a high cocoa content, it was verging on dark chocolate but not quite.

I remember that! It was good!

Judiezones · 05/08/2025 18:06

Does anyone else remember M&S Mint Meringues? They were a green mint meringue, shaped like an éclair, covered in dark chocolate. It was a long time ago, because I used to call them Mint Merring-yews and I wondered why my mum always laughed.
They were absolutely gorgeous. I used to bite the end off and stick my tongue in and all the minty meringue used to melt.

Lidl passion fruit jam.

Heinz cucumber sandwich spread.

I rarely have bread anymore. Maybe not having these anymore is why.

Quorn change their availability so often. Currently can't get frozen "bacon" or "steak strips" or lots of other stuff. You get a lovely little repertoire of recipes and then they stop making/selling stuff. Grr

Agree about the Quorn. They used to do a lovely taco mince.

willitdoit · 05/08/2025 23:41

It’s already been said I know but what I wouldn’t give for phileas fogg mignons morceaux

Myblueclematis · 06/08/2025 08:10

Toffee Cup bar. Thick chocolate with a soft smooth caramel inside. Was in a red and silver wrapping I think and was made by Mackintosh IIRC.

JerkintheMerkin · 06/08/2025 10:10

Holland & Barrett Wonder oil and Walkers Beef & Onion crisps.
