Many years ago Marks & Spencer sold a cheese and apple sandwich. It was grated cheese mixed with some kind of mayonnaise and with chunks of apple. It was amazing. Then it stopped and it never returned.

Would I be unreasonable to email their head office to ask for them to reintroduce it?

£10 a bar?! 😯

Yes it's a craze hence a lot of supermarkets doing their own version, if you remember prime drinks were ridiculously expensive at one point .

Galaxy swirls and vice versas. I also remember a bright orange cheese spread in the early 80's I loved.

I don't remember Galaxy Swirls. Was the orange cheese spread by Sunpat?

Dragonfly97 · 04/08/2025 13:34

This is an old one, but much missed; Sunpat Cheddar Spread, an orange coloured cheese spread in a jar, I loved this on toast in the 80's. Where did it go?!!

GreenGodiva · 04/08/2025 13:37

Muddy pugs ice cream. Bloody loved that stuff. .

BCBird · 04/08/2025 13:37

I remember having a M and S chicken and grape sandwich 35 delicious. Was a student- felt like a mega treat. Was delicious.

They still do it in some stores, I see it quite regularly in my local one 😊

No, it's a completely different beast now and it comes nowhere near the original!

Toast toppers

Haven't RTFT but Toast toppers are still available at B&M

FluffMagnet · 04/08/2025 13:43

Going back to the 90s, but Sara Lee did a hot pecan and cinnamon danish thing that was just the best pudding ever. Still sad about that.

Iwiicit · 04/08/2025 13:45

Don't know if anyone's mentioned Pacers. No one I speak to seems to remember them. They were same as Opal Fruits/Starburst but mint flavour. They were white with green stripes across them.

I’d happily mill a bag of Phileas Fogg Mignons Morceaux.

M&S Mexican Bean Wrap. The new wraps are crap(s)…

Oh my god I'd forgotten the mignons 😍 My mum and I used to take a bag to share every Sunday when we went to the riding stables; we used to come home stinking of horse and garlic, it was fantastic! 😂😊

thesadwitch01 · 04/08/2025 13:47

I’d like some St Ivel Gold please for my toast. Followed by a Spira or Secret Bar.

I’d also like a slab of the pear and brown butter cake that John Lewis used to serve in their cafe until they abruptly stopped doing that one.

Oh and a bag of Philleas Fogg tortilla chips that my parents used to buy in the 90s for their parties that I’d devour before any of the adults could get to them.

And an Asda spinach and mascarpone pizza that they used to do circa 2004/5 which my best friend and I used to eat with our rose whilst we’d get ready to go clubbing on Friday nights. The current Crosta and Mollica one is a good dupe but it doesn’t quite taste the way I remember the Asda one tasting.

And the mushroom stuffed crepes they used to do at Prezzo in the early 00s, with the raspberry tiramisu for afters. Or the fennel and sausage pizza they used to at Pizza Express.

OK I really need to stop now!!

I remember this ,. why do companies stop producing things that are obviously a big hit with customers

VickyEadieofThigh · 04/08/2025 14:01

I was a teenager in the 70s. I still miss:

Sure Forest Fresh deodorant - it was the first deodorant I bought for myself and it smelled lovely.
Masumi perfume by Coty. The very first perfume I bought myself.

Lakeland Sticky Mitts. Brilliant for cat hair removal.

M&S still sell Chunky Chicken in a tin - it's my ultimate comfort food with rice!

My mom used to make it with really buttery mashed potato, sometimes on the top like a cottage pie, sometimes just as an accompaniment. Real comfort food

They also did a cheese less pizza which my cheese hating Dh liked but I haven't seen that for a long time either.

Spiras! The best chocolate bar ever made, and nothing has matched it since. I know I’m not the only one who thinks this 😊.

The best chocolate bar ever made? That will be Aztec.

We used to gorge on drifter bars in the holidays (and lots of other junk food , thanks Grandma) and one magical summer we discovered banana flavour drifters 😋

Yes! These were amazing.

Mydahliasareshit · 04/08/2025 14:42

Bejam chicken rolls. Like sausage rolls, but with minced chicken in a little sauce. Often had one in my school lunchbox in the 70s.
And I wonder why I'm plump. No chance. 😆

The only one I’ve found is Belvoir blackcurrant which just has fruit and sugar in it, no sweeteners. It tastes quite like the old Ribena.

Rocks do one as well. Waitrose sell it. The ice cream chocolates were Dark Secrets.

M&S chocolate Swiss roll with the thick white buttercream. It was a weekly treat in the 70s and 80s and I can’t recall the last time I saw one. It was in cellophane not a box and the outside of the cake used to stick to it.

I think Colin the Caterpillar is chocolate with white cream.
