It feels like autumn!

And it’s only August 😩 I’m quite sick of this weather to be honest

Not that I ever remembered to have with me! There's probably 5 pairs knocking the house somewhere. I only allow myself to buy cheap ones as I can't be trusted to not lose them.

At least when it's properly dark you know what to expect. Never know with a sunny day which bend you are going to go round and be suddenly dazzled

I keep a spare pair in the car for that very reason. I struggle to drive in bright sunlight without sunglasses as well.

Yeah, when it’s dark you’ll just be dazzled by people with their headlights on full beam!

Honestly this thread! People complaining about normal seasonal variation. Too light, too dark, too warm, too cold, too humid, too this, too that.

Maybe you should pray you reincarnate as a seabird. They can fly all round the world and follow the seasons. Did you know Arctic terns and Manx shearwaters never get a winter for example?

Mrscharlieeeee · 04/08/2025 14:44

It smelled like autumn this morning, the air was cooler, it was cloudy and damp. I was chilly last night when sat watching TV. We’ve just had a burst or torrential rain in Yorkshire but now it’s blue skies and sunny but only about 21. We’ve had some lovely weather in June and July so the last few days have been disappointing and looks set to continue like this for the rest of the week.

That sounds ideal to be honest. If I won the lottery I’d never experience a winter again (unless it was a proper winter - with snow and crisp cold days, rather than our muck!)

I try! But then I get somewhere and find I need them so they come out and don't find their way back. And sometimes I wear lenses, sometimes glasses but I don't have any prescription sunglasses so occasionally have to wear two pairs of glasses which makes summer driving even more annoying.

DappledThings · 04/08/2025 15:25

Just got back from walking the dog. It's grey and drizzly and there's a nice breeze but it still feels like summer mugginess. Nothing like the same kind of weather will feel in a couple of months when it's actually Autumn

This is bizarre. You do know you’re in charge of your sunglasses and not the other way around don’t you! 🤣 If you need prescription glasses/sunglasses for driving, you shouldn’t be driving without them.

I'm disorganised! That's what I mean about them not being where I need them to be most of the time. Obviously this is what I meant by saying "I try".

Not sure where you got the idea I drive without the prescription I need. I said it was annoying having to wear two pairs of glasses. I meant at the same time. I.e. if I've not got lenses in I have to put sunglasses (should I be in a rare time Ive remembered to keep them where I need them) over the top of my glasses. Which is annoying.

If I had 5 pairs I wouldn’t have a problem leaving one pair in the car at all times knowing there were 4 other pairs in the house, particularly if I was disorganised to that degree.

I wear glasses all the time, but have something similar to this with magnetic clip on sunglasses.

I keep my magnetic clip ons in the car and another clip on in my handbag, and that is where they stay unless I am wearing them.
