And it’s only August 😩 I’m quite sick of this weather to be honest

What country is that and when is Spring? In the UK Spring is March, April, May. Summer June July August,. Autumn September October November and Wintetr is December January February.

It used to be but I reckon now it's summer May June July, autumn August September October, winter November December January February (that extra month is a bummer but November is winter because it's so bloody dark) and spring is March and April.

I much preferred when it was 30 degrees outside each day 😂😂😂

Yes I’m the same!
Anything below 25c and I’m wearing a jumper!
Its raining in Devon where I am, that horrible drizzle stuff!

Maybe i need to move up north! The warmest we have in the next two weeks is 25, sitting closer to 20-21. It’s so depressing

I see a lot of posts, like yours, on here which are based on unrealistic expectations about the weather.

If you live or are on holiday around Dartmoor, average summer temperatures are 16 to 20 degrees.

The UK is essentially a cool wet climate. The fact that most people regularly travel abroad to warmer places does not change this.

My last few perfume purchases have been autumnal and I've had a few hot chocolates so definitely feels like autumn. Just wish the bloody flies would fuck off

Funny you should say about flies as yesterday they kept appearing in the house and the windows and door hadn't been open for long. I was worried there was a nest somewhere as they're the same type. It wasn't even that warm yesterday and we weren't cooking anything to make them come in.

pennypans · 03/08/2025 07:07

I have been wearing a jumper as it's cloudy & about 22 ish here. I prefer 25/26 clear skies but it's warming up on next week.

Mumjaro · 03/08/2025 07:10

We had a scorching couple of months so had a good summer IMO. I LOVE autumn and rainy days so I am happy 😁

taxidriver · 03/08/2025 07:11

this is very normal for August,

taxidriver · 03/08/2025 07:12

mid summer is 21st June

I felt this in the last week of July tbh! I felt we had our summer in May / June. It’s not even so much the weather for me as we’ve had some lovely days since, but it felt like our summer was done early, certainly before the school summer holidays started.

Yes, same here. There’s been a chill in the air in the morning for a couple of weeks now. It’s such a shame, because August is meant to be the hottest month!

Yep, same here. Down in Devon and it’s horrible rain and cloud.

I do see what you mean; I’m definitely feeling quite autumnal (but personally, I love that time of year so it’s not a negative for me). I’ll feel horribly unsettled if September is hot, as by that point I’m ready to just get the jumpers out, listen to moody music and have roast dinners!

Ooodelally · 03/08/2025 07:39

I had to wear a coat yesterday! Hated it and made me realise how spoilt for pleasant weather we’ve been recently lol. There is definitely an autumnal feel to the air, especially of a morning…

taxidriver · 03/08/2025 08:11

didnt need a coat, or even a cardigan at the seaside yesterday, took one as well as an umbrella, but it was still hot, but the ground is damp in the morning as well as the evening.

DappledThings · 03/08/2025 08:17

Over the next three weeks I will be in 3 different parts of England, 200 miles between each. Forecast for all them is showing full sun and temps of 22-26. Nothing remotely Autumnal about it.

TubeScreamer · 03/08/2025 08:30

This is classic August weather. If anything it is slightly warmer than normal.

Yes. It’s cold, grey and miserable.

I agree. I wonder if the people who like hot weather just lie about in the sun doing nothing as the heat is really unpleasant for an active lifestyle of walking, gardening etc

For you. Some people don’t find it so. Just as some don't find freezing cold and damp ‘cozy’. I find it difficult to leave the house even for things I enjoy in winter because I can’t face the cold. It takes me to the brink of depression every year and only doesn’t tip me over because I fight like hell.
But, yeah, hot chocolate and candles and cozy blankets.

It felt autumnal here this morning. Damp, cool, that petrichor smell. Lots of conkers and berries on the trees and the wildflowers have all gone to seed.

You get petrichor when it rains on hot tarmac. It doesn’t happen in autumn.
Cool and damp on a summer morning after rain isn’t autumnal. Many wild flowers are spring flowering. Many berries have a ripening season from mid July onwards. They’re a bit on the earlier side of that this year because spring was early so they’ve had time to ripen, not because it’s autumn.

Where? It’s been warm enough for me (notoriously shit in the cold) to be in a t shirt every day so far.

Wolfpa · 03/08/2025 09:43

I am in the East of England and it is still very much summer here

Yes. It’s cold, grey and miserable.

Its not cold is it. Its just cooler than 30.

21 degrees is our summer with the occasional heatwave thrown in.

pennypans · 03/08/2025 09:53

These threads are so weird 😆 You simultaneously get posters saying they are in strappy tops and puffer coats at 20!

Christwosheds · 03/08/2025 09:58

It’s warm here but it’s felt like August for weeks, my garden has been looking how it normally does near the end of Summer, not like a July garden. It feels like it’s almost the end of the Summer holidays .
