It feels like autumn!

And it’s only August 😩 I’m quite sick of this weather to be honest

22 here, with alternating cloud and sun. This is the British summertime (at last) and what those of us genetically British are acclimatised to. If you want 28+ and scorching sun I suggest you move to Portugal.

Etincelle · 02/08/2025 17:07

Same. When we went to Dorset it was early 20s. Perfect! 🙂

Currently sat outside eating tea. And I am definitely going to have to move into the shade!

JohnTheRevelator · 02/08/2025 17:15

I much prefer it like this. I hate hot weather. I really can't see anything positive about sweating constantly and feeling exhausted trying to do the slightest thing. Suits me if it's 21/22 degrees all summer. Roll on autumn!

It is absolutely bloody roasting here in Scotland.

Maybe i need to move up north! The warmest we have in the next two weeks is 25, sitting closer to 20-21. It’s so depressing

That is the perfect weather for gardening, running, hiking, warm but not hot.

Any more than 25 and I just want to flop in the shade.

XWKD · 02/08/2025 17:22

My comfort zone is below 23. Where I live it's humid, and anything more is uncomfortable. Higher temperatures are ok where it's dry.

Nursingadvice · 02/08/2025 17:23

I really struggle to fathom how anybody enjoys 30 degrees? You can’t sit it in as you literally feel your skin burning, you can’t do anything without sweating loads, everything is so much more effort. It’s uncomfortable indoors unless you have AC which most of us don’t. I honestly hate it. I hate anything above 22 to be honest. I appreciate some people like it warmer but surely 25/26 is enjoyable if you like that kind of thing. The 30’s are just horrific.
i can’t wait until October personally and my mood has been so much better the last couple of days due to that feeling of autumn.

Jellycatspyjamas · 02/08/2025 17:24

I’ve had lunch sitting in the sunshine in a beer garden, I’m slightly sun burned and super relaxed - no shades of autumn here.

cardibach · 02/08/2025 17:26

This 8s the second thread saying this.
Not here it doesn’t (SouthEast Wales). I did some gardening earlier - just a bit of strim ing - and I was literally dripping. It’s lovely and sunny. Nice breeze. Clothes drying in the line. Nice for a walk. Summery.

RampantIvy · 02/08/2025 17:26

Most mumsnetters hate summer and prefer to fester under a blanket in sub zero temperatures drinking hot chocolate sitting in candlelight and feeling cosy.

Meanwhile, in real life most people prefer to be warm without having to layer up or sit under a blanket or put the heating on.

My favourite temperature is about 24/ 25 degrees. Our forecast is lower than I would like but it is what it is, and we still need a lot of rain.

It feels like autumn!

I'm still in a dress with bare legs up North.Yabu.

One of the things I like about it is there less pressure to be outside doing things in the summer holidays. If it’s cloudy I can stay at home with the kids without feeling guilty about it.

Yes I agree, I always feel that guilt and pressure too that we should be out and about doing things if the sun is out. not so much if its gloomy. no idea why, I hate it.
prefer a dull day for that reason, bring out the sun when they're at school!

Either it is warmer where you are or you are well 'ard.

It is currently 19 degrees where I am in South Yorkshire, which is not dress and bare legs weather for me.

Dream temperatures up here in Scotland! Anything above 19 and we’re taps aff!

Due a storm this week so soaking up the last of the sun in the 20/21 degrees here today.

Edited

I’m trying to tell myself to enjoy it despite the fact my living room is like a conservatory in the afternoon so I’m trying to watch the footy on TV with the fan blasting at its highest setting. I have to get to the hospital on Monday when the storm is due in so I know I’ll be moaning about that even more than the heat. 🙈

DappledThings · 02/08/2025 17:33

21 is a lovely temp and definitely not Autumnal. Next week here is rising to 23/24 and full sun which is the top end of where I'm comfortable.

It's been cloudier recently but mostly still dry and still hot. I can't get bedrooms below the temperature where a fan is needed.

ImthatBoleyngirl · 02/08/2025 17:36

spoonbillstretford · 02/08/2025 15:21

It's 21C here. Bit cloudy but a nice temperature. We ate lunch in the garden. Autumn starts in August though and goes on until January. Winter lasts about a month. Summer is mid May to mid July.

Edited

Autumn starts either on 1st Sept or the 22nd, depending on which calendar you follow.

Vivienne1000 · 02/08/2025 17:37

Beautiful in the Cotswolds

Zov · 02/08/2025 17:38

Not here it doesn't - Midlands. 22C and sunny all day. Been sunny much of the past week, with just the odd rain shower. Feels like summer to me. Anyone who is whining about a bit of rain, and the temperature being 2 degrees below the average - for August, (after the beautiful weather we have had since late February) needs to give their head a wobble! 😬

NoContactPerson · 02/08/2025 17:39

Gorgeous in the East Midlands

I’ve had a jumper on today for the first time in months , definitely felt the chill

100% this. ^ I fecking HATE the winter. Too cold, too damp, nowhere open to visit, and dark at bloody 4 in the afternoon. No thanks. Give me light late nights and sun and 22-26 degrees C temperatures any day!

Sleeveless vest top, denim shorts, and flip flops for me today, and lots of suntan lotion. Glorious. Been in the garden most of the day. Went to the beach a few days ago, and went for a walk in the woodlands yesterday. Perfect! 😎

330ml · 02/08/2025 17:45

It been a lovely day where I am in Wales. There’s not a cloud in the sky.

Hedjwitch · 02/08/2025 17:45

Lovely in St Andrews

It feels like autumn!
K0OLA1D · 02/08/2025 17:45

I only like the winter when its icy cold, dry and sunny and I only like the Autumn when its crispy leaves and sunny.

Summer, anything over 24 is just too hot for me to do anything.

Today is just honestly lovely
