And it’s only August 😩 I’m quite sick of this weather to be honest

Yes I agree, I always feel that guilt and pressure too that we should be out and about doing things if the sun is out. not so much if its gloomy. no idea why, I hate it.
prefer a dull day for that reason, bring out the sun when they're at school!

I find this really weird. I stay in if I want and go out if I want regardless of the weather. I don’t usually want to in the cold though and resent it becaus it makes me not want to do stuff I enjoy.

It's 21C here. Bit cloudy but a nice temperature. We ate lunch in the garden. Autumn starts in August though and goes on until January. Winter lasts about a month. Summer is mid May to mid July.

Edited

What country is that and when is Spring? In the UK Spring is March, April, May. Summer June July August,. Autumn September October November and Wintetr is December January February.

GentleSheep · 02/08/2025 17:46

No sign of autumn here in the W Midlands - just sun and warmth day in day out! Even succeeding to get tomatoes growing well. Today is very pleasant.

CandyCane457 · 02/08/2025 18:32

I’m in Manchester and been at a bbq all aff wearing a strappy midi and sandals and it’s been 21 degrees. And perfect for me! Home now in the garden and it’s 18, still comfortable in my dress but can feel it starting to cool. I like it best like this, those 30 degree days were a bit heavy for
me! However I do agree the last week has felt a lot more autumnal, today seems to be the anomaly!

I’ve had a jumper on today for the first time in months , definitely felt the chill

Me too! Awful

It absolutely is autumnal and I do not like it!

LostGhost · 02/08/2025 20:31

It's autumnal and i'm loving it.

I detest the heat/summer/endless evenings, my SAD has been absolutely horrific this year. No energy or motivation to do anything and the routine goes completely out the window.

Bring on the cooler weather where you can actually go outside without being a puddle of sweat in 10 seconds.

Chipsahoy · 02/08/2025 20:37

I think we got your weather. It’s been amazing so far this summer holidays in Scotland. Just one or two odd days of grey. Today it’s been 20c and sunny which is positively tropical for Scotland.
Fingers crossed the weather will improve for you for the rest of the summer holidays.

I agree. I wonder if the people who like hot weather just lie about in the sun doing nothing as the heat is really unpleasant for an active lifestyle of walking, gardening etc

No. We continue life as normal and don't kick up a fuss about the nice weather because we tolerate it better.

I don't lie in the sun when it is 30 degrees unless it is by a pool on holiday.

TerminalMoraine · 02/08/2025 22:50

Isn’t this current weather just typical British Summer weather we all love/ hate?

BigCheese24 · 02/08/2025 23:04

We’re from Scotland but currently on holiday in Silloth, England. I’m sunburnt from the beach today and my son enjoyed the splash pad down the town all day - so definitely no autumn here!

TheCurious0range · 02/08/2025 23:08

I walked to town along the seafront today, a couple of miles, in a cotton sundress and sandals, it's been around 24 today not too hot , slight breeze, but definitely not autumnal!

WhySoManySocks · 02/08/2025 23:11

Agreed.

Summer these days seems to be mid April to mid July. From then on it’s Autumn, never mind what the calendar says.

Drivingthevengabus · 02/08/2025 23:17

When I took the dog out earlier about 6:30pm there was a definite autumnal smell to the fields and a the air was much cooler. I'm sad about that. School has only broken up for 2 weeks. I'd like it a bit warmer. Or I think the school holidays should be earlier in England as the best/hottest weather tends to be June and July.

Not round here. I don't think DC have ever started the school year in full winter uniform. Always summer dresses and shorts for at least the first 2-3 weeks as it doesn't really turn Autumnal till nearly October.

I've seen people complain about what they perceive as a poor summer before when it's been wetter and cooler than they hoped but this is the first year I've seen anyone claim the actual seasons are changing early.

15minutesaday · 02/08/2025 23:32

It felt autumnal here this morning. Damp, cool, that petrichor smell. Lots of conkers and berries on the trees and the wildflowers have all gone to seed.

lorn195 · 02/08/2025 23:43

Definitely not autumnal in Cornwall. I have worn shorts and T-shirts all day and it’s a glorious 22 deg C.

On the other hand DS2 who’s currently in the US has been used to 27 deg - 31 deg C sent us photo of himself wearing a hoodie and gilet as he’s cold. The current temperature out there is 22 deg C 🤣

Dillydollydingdong · 02/08/2025 23:49

No it doesn't. It's lovely. When it gets too hot we'll moan again

TianasFlight · 03/08/2025 01:47

After two weeks in Florida I'll happily take the current UK weather. It's 9pm and 30 degrees currently.

Brendahollowayreconsider · 03/08/2025 03:18

Not in NE Scotland
Our inside temp 26.
Outside at 3am 16

riversflows · 03/08/2025 03:27

Yes it’s feeling like fall in the morning and evening bring it on

Maybe i need to move up north! The warmest we have in the next two weeks is 25, sitting closer to 20-21. It’s so depressing

This is my ideal summer temperature and is more normal for England, anyway. This is what we are experiencing in the East Midlands and is far preferable to the sticky, humid 30° heat of a few weeks ago, especially as I have extremely fair, easily sunburnt skin and have to be very careful.

To be fair, it has felt autumnal where I live for the last week.

We enjoyed a pleasant 21 degrees yesterday, but the sun didn't come out until mid afternoon.

We have much needed rain today and tomorrow then brighter weather after that with maximum temperatures of 20 degrees which is jeans/trousers weather for me.
