to think that MN is full of bitches?

Don't get me wrong, I think that there are some lovely, really supportive people on here as well.

Is it just me though who thinks that there is quite a lot of bitchiness and nastiness that goes on here on a fairly regular basis?

There is bitchiness. Sometimes it is nasty, sometimes ascerbic and funny.
Avoid the AIBU threads (lol!)and feeding ones.

Popcorn anyone?

beaniesteve · 28/05/2008 14:18

I'm fairly new and I don't see it to be honest. I see the same questions come up over and over and a sense that people are a bit tired of giving good advice to people who just won't take it sometimes, but then that doesn't help people who genuinely ask questions because they don't know what to do.

it's like any forum though... people get to know eachother, other people stay under the radar, other people desparately want to be accepted and maybe feel a bit funny when they feel they are not being.

It's no more bitchy than any other long running site I am a member off.

what upsets you particularly?

nickytwotimes · 28/05/2008 14:19

Oh, btw, saying 'full of bitches' may have been a tad unwise. Get your hard hat out!

Oliveoil · 28/05/2008 14:19

link to bitches please

VictorianSqualor · 28/05/2008 14:19

I went to an all girls school.
It prepared me for MN.

Stopitplease · 28/05/2008 14:19

Oh, I had to put something in the opening line to grab people's attention.

What a negative way to look at it.

Why not start a thread saying, "AIBU to think there are some really lovely, supportive people on MN" with the OP saying, "Don't get me wrong, there are some viperish posts as well, but in the main, there is a lot of lovely, supportive stuff that goes on here on a fairly regular basis"

or would that not have had quite the frisson?

cornsilk · 28/05/2008 14:20

Anything in particular that's got you going?

beaniesteve · 28/05/2008 14:20

lol yes - on the onehand you say 'full of bitches' then you say "Don't get me wrong, I think that there are some lovely, really supportive people on here as well"

which is it?

Nixz · 28/05/2008 14:20

I think that you have to think carefully about threads that you want to start. Sometimes you know that certain topics will have negative reactions.

hunkermunker · 28/05/2008 14:20

Yep, attention-seeking twattery.

Stopitplease.

lulumama · 28/05/2008 14:20

i think your thread title is nasty and provocative

it is the same with groups of people everywhere, not just on the internet

some are nice, some are nasty, some are nice until provoked

MN is big enough to avoid the 'bitchiness'

starting a thread like this is just bound to stir up strong feeling

if you feel somoene is being aggresive and nasty or a personal attack, then report it or challenge the poster on the thread in question rather than asking is MN full of bitches, which is bound to get peoples' backs up

WilfSell · 28/05/2008 14:20

Have you just arrived off the boat? Or are you a namechanger? You forgot 'nest of vipers' by the way.

If you don't like it, you know you can just walk away? It is not compulsory like school.

But bear in mind, bitchiness is next to funnyness godliness.

VictorianSqualor · 28/05/2008 14:21

stopitplease, as you're incognito, why not point out where/who/what you think is/was bitchy.

I bet a lot of it is misunderstanding, which, in a world of no expression but the written form, is easy to do.

Stopitplease · 28/05/2008 14:21

Oh, it will be so funny if people start getting bitchy on this thread now.

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 28/05/2008 14:22

Start getting bitchy?

You did that with the OP!

WilfSell · 28/05/2008 14:22

it won't be funny, stopitplease, it will just make you look a bit sad TBH

Sometimes I don't like the responses I get, but you have to bear in mind that when you are asking for people's opinions, you are opening yourself up to a debate and for people that disagree to challenge you.

Sometimes I feel that people are a little abrupt and curt, but its just like RL, you have to take on board what people say and then process it yourself.

PuppyMonkey · 28/05/2008 14:24

I'm definitely one of the lovely, really supportive ones. Definitely.

Psychomum5 · 28/05/2008 14:24

there is no bitchieness here, just people taking it wrong!!!!

Psychomum5 · 28/05/2008 14:24
