Don't get me wrong, I think that there are some lovely, really supportive people on here as well.

Is it just me though who thinks that there is quite a lot of bitchiness and nastiness that goes on here on a fairly regular basis?

oops, sorry, didnt mean to shout

muggglewump · 28/05/2008 14:25

I'm fairly new and I've not seen it, or perhaps I don't perceive it that way.
I've used other forums, very "nice" forums but under all the niceness is a load of crap.
What you get here is honesty, advice and support. Yes, the initial reply may be blunt but it comes with substance.

I'd far rather that than be called hun and sweetie and lied to when I'm being an unreasonable cow!

Psychomum5 · 28/05/2008 14:26

lol @ unquietdad....

Fanella · 28/05/2008 14:26

Of course YABU, but you already knew that.

swiftyknickers · 28/05/2008 14:28

do you know what i was welling up the other night about how supportive it is on here and it has restored my faith in sisterhood

i blardy love it

MaureenMLove · 28/05/2008 14:28

There is no hope for MN is there? Yesterday we were wankers and today bitches! Better get back to talking about fluffy kittens and doing my knitting, clearly its not acceptable to have an opinion on anything!

(Apologies if I upset anyone who does knit or talk about fluffy kittens! )

WilfSell · 28/05/2008 14:29

yeah we were all being class A bitches last night holding the hand of someone having a majorly shit time, weren't we?

beaniesteve · 28/05/2008 14:29

stopitplease, are you going to respond to any of the comments made? I thought I made quite a good reasonable post.

Or are you really (And disappointingly) here for trouble?

cornsilk · 28/05/2008 14:31

Am thinking this is either a wind up or a troll.

AriettyClock · 28/05/2008 14:33

If you think "Don't get me wrong, I think that there are some lovely, really supportive people on here as well", then it can't be FULL of bitches can it, dear?

LadyThompson · 28/05/2008 14:34

Er, well it's been a godsend and a revelation to me and I've found people fab. Anyway, I think you can tell if someone's just being grumpy, or wittily flippant, or if they have a bee in their bonnet about a particular issue. Or you can if you have a modicum of awareness, anyway...Take the rough with the smooth, stopitplease - and if you don't like what someone has got to say - pipe up at the time!

Stopitplease · 28/05/2008 14:35

As I've already explained, the thread title was to get your attention.

I stand by the OP though. There are lots of lovely, really supportive people on here. I do think some people get there kicks out of being bitchy to others though. Some examples....hmm, there was quite a lot of nastiness on that barking dog thread recently wasn't there?

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 28/05/2008 14:36

Proper example sweetheart. Links.

VinegarTits · 28/05/2008 14:36

'Oh, it will be so funny if people start getting bitchy on this thread now. '

Did they let you out, or give you access to the internet, for the day love?

What a nutter

SheikYerbouti · 28/05/2008 14:37

Oh, not this again.

I am a bitch.

I don't care what you think, tbqh.

hunkermunker · 28/05/2008 14:37

One person's top comedy is another preciousickleflower's person's bitching though.

VictorianSqualor · 28/05/2008 14:38

I think you got it confused, take this thread for example...

Dear, Sweetheart, Love

Patronising? Oh, yes. Bitchy? Not really.

SoupDragon · 28/05/2008 14:38

That poster, oh what's her name... Ah! Stopitplease, that's it. anyway, she's a bit of a bitch. Making sweeping judgments about people whilst hiding behind a namechange. Tsk tsk.

SheikYerbouti · 28/05/2008 14:38

I think that's pweshusickleflower, actually

GColdtimer · 28/05/2008 14:38

I think I am a bit dim. I completely and utterly don't get the point of this thread at all.

Nixz · 28/05/2008 14:38

Victoriansqualor -
"it is misunderstanding, which, in a world of no expression but the written form, is easy to do."

A very good point, I have often thought the same thing when writing Text messages.

A world gone crazy

AriettyClock · 28/05/2008 14:40

Sheik is correct in using the more formal spelling in this context.

I don't see the point of attention-seeking threads like this.

If someone annoys you on here, post it on the thread, or CAT them.

If you think the place is full of bitches, go somewhere that you consider to be less full of the aforementioned insult.

beaniesteve · 28/05/2008 14:40

"I stand by the OP though. There are lots of lovely, really supportive people on here. I do think some people get there kicks out of being bitchy to others though. Some examples....hmm, there was quite a lot of nastiness on that barking dog thread recently wasn't there"

didn't go in there, didn't see it. Any other examples? And what are your proposals to stop it from continuing?

Habbibu · 28/05/2008 14:41

Am I being unreasonable to think MN is full of humans? I don't think Web 2.0 has got to the stage where it can filter out all comments which may cause offence to people unable to stop reading.
