I couldn’t sleep last night, worrying about a Reform government

1000 replies

Cluborange666 · 01/08/2025 09:15

I am really worried. I think they’ll wreck the economy. I’ve got a few years left to pay off my mortgage from my job that deals with immigrants. I don’t want our pensions to tank. I don’t want my sons’ lives to be messed around. I worry about more racism, the more ‘voice’ that Reform get. I live in a very multicultural city and non-white people tell me that they are experiencing more overt racism. It makes me feel very insecure about the future.

wish Labour would do more to show that they are on the side of ordinary people as I think that’s what is driving this (I’m a Labour voter). I don’t think the creation of Your Party will help, just give Reform more advantages.

Sigh. Happy to be told I’m unreasonable as I think the future looks bleak.

Labour and Conservatives both fucked it up. If Reform get in it will be because they still aren't listening. Reform currently aren't saying how they will do it either, just lots of noise!
As fot the support they are gaining, when the only homeless are those actively wanting to be 'men of the road' types, everyone has access to affordable housing, there are school places in good schools, doctors, dentists, minimal waiting lists, those at the bottom of societys' pile will accept lots of incomers taking a 'piece of their pie'.

Ensure all newcomers are self funding, no recourse to any public funds, insurances to pay for health and education before right to stay. No right for relatives to join. None with criminal record allowed, deport any foreign criminals. Refugees can apply for settlement loans to be repaid when earning over NMW. It's doable for students so doable for Refugees.

Awww don’t be embarrassed. No need for faux confusion. Being obsessed by another poster is no bad thing, especially if you can learn something. Keep following, there’s hope for you yet.

Truly, I don't know who you are at all, I'm sorry if that is a blow to your (huge) ego😬

Dimondsareforever · 02/08/2025 16:58

I understand people having concerns about current or future governments (regardless of polictal views) …. But being unable to sleep all night due to one of the possible outcomes of an election that won’t happen for a few years seems a bit OTT.

I doubt the OP is really having sleepless nights. Not even sure if she’s revisited the thread!

Well, the company my brother works for (bank) made a lot of people redundant thanks to this delightful current government. The best bit? They had to train the people taking their jobs in India.

If Reform get in I wouldn’t care less.

Out of curiosity what leads you to believe that I am obsessed with you. You mentioned on this thread something about Bonds and I asked you if you were a Bond Broker on this thread. You posted something like wouldn't I like to know. I don't actually think you are a Bond Broker it was sarcasm I don't think remembering what a poster's position is on one thread makes you a stalker. Again, sorry if that damages your ego..

I mean that isn't how we talk to each other. I don't ask, "are you voting for Reform?" The last time we had a party, one male friend said Reform are normalising prejudice and no one disagreed, they could be insincere of course but I live in a pretty liberal minded area so I doubt it.

I always think it's hard to disagree with a liberal/lefty because they always criticise the person making an argument rather than the argument itself. So it's far easier to pretend to agree and then move on asap. And then vote Reform. Much easier.

Aww the effort you put into this fangirling is so cute. If a little creepy at the same time. But thanks.

You can do. It will probably yield better results and be more entertaining than the politically illiterate stuff you’ve been coming out with. Everyone has some talent no matter how small, even you.

Great thanks. Glad you care so much to ask. But look, you are random stranger on the internet after all, so you don’t need to be that concerned about me.

Does this help?

PandoraSocks · 02/08/2025 13:35

No. You don't get to tell others how to interpret my post.

I genuinely apologise if I have offended @LevoitPotato

I made a silly post with a silly gif that has upset them and I am sorry about that. I would not want to put someone off posting on MN.

Edited

@EasternStandardthank you
@PandoraSocksthank for the apology, I appreciate it.

Tories are not forgiven yet and Labour are utterly despised by 75% of the population. Reform will be the next Government, check out the betting odds.

If you used the term "liberal/lefty" as an insult at the parties/get togethers with my friends there would be quite a bit of laughter but also be offered an Espresso martini to help you get over indignation.

Equally, in a City population of about 300000 I doubt very much they were any of the 2800 that voted for Reform in my constituency.

usersame · 02/08/2025 17:28

Reform won't get in. They are just slogans and no substance. They have no clue and no policies beyond " but immigration..." Mind you, if enough poor sods are stupid enough to vote them in, they will get what they deserve. The poor will get poorer. Those paying school fees and those who can buy £1m plus properties will be rewarded. The boats will keep coming - what is Farage going to do realistically? The nation will be a laughing stock, just like the US is now.

There is a long way to go.

The Senedd elections next year will be interesting though.

Reform aren't on course to win a majority, but the polls suggest they will take a good chunk of the votes. Yet there have been two local by elections in Wales the last couple of weeks, both of which Reform have failed to win.

I was talking about the Welsh elections not UK. In Wales Reform is not on course to win a majority.
