I couldn’t sleep last night, worrying about a Reform government

Cluborange666 · 01/08/2025 09:15

I am really worried. I think they’ll wreck the economy. I’ve got a few years left to pay off my mortgage from my job that deals with immigrants. I don’t want our pensions to tank. I don’t want my sons’ lives to be messed around. I worry about more racism, the more ‘voice’ that Reform get. I live in a very multicultural city and non-white people tell me that they are experiencing more overt racism. It makes me feel very insecure about the future.

wish Labour would do more to show that they are on the side of ordinary people as I think that’s what is driving this (I’m a Labour voter). I don’t think the creation of Your Party will help, just give Reform more advantages.

Sigh. Happy to be told I’m unreasonable as I think the future looks bleak.

I might agree with NF if he said that the reason he disagrees with the Online Safety Act was because of data protection concerns, but he didn’t. He said it went against free speech, so basically he is fine with children being able to access harmful and extremist content. Why is that? Hmm 🤔

What are you suggesting? You may as well spell it out.

Quirkswork · 01/08/2025 21:48

Well he's hardly going to advocate the law being broken when he's an MP and leader of a political party.

No, he doesn’t out right advocate it, he just sends dog whistles out, sits back and watches and then he accepts no accountability. Anybody who overtly advocates for breaking the law in his position would have to be pretty fucking thick, don’t you think? He’s very clever, cunning and manipulative. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

Jennps · 01/08/2025 22:20

PandoraSocks · 01/08/2025 20:42

Are all Reform supporters grifters? No.

Do all Reform supporters have rich mates? I don't think so, tbh.

Are you ready to tell us yet, what a Refotm supporter looks like?

Travelatot · 01/08/2025 22:22

I wouldn’t lose sleep over it but I think it’s going to happen. Their analysis of what ails the UK is sometimes spot on. However, they offer simplistic solutions to complex problems, don’t have an understanding of anything much, and their ‘respectable’ front masks something much darker. It’ll be a disaster.

Tbf that's what Peter Kyle did.

It benefits him, either politically or financially, if children can keep being exposed such things, else why would he be so against it if not for data reasons?

You're worried about reform fucking the country... Your honour I give you Liz Truss, Gordon Brown, James Callahan, Henry Palmerston, Lloyd George et al. The thing is the economy always recovers and grows even higher.

If reform/Farage come to power, like trump, they will actually grow the economy because, unlike Labour and the Tories, they are actually business people who run businesses not some spotty twat who's studied PPE and never actually had a real job

Trump has bankrupted all of his businesses so it’s not a ringing endorsement for his business acumen 😂😂

User3456 · 01/08/2025 22:35

YANBU. Really worried what a Reform government would mean for worker's rights, the NHS and disabled people for starters. International relations will be a disaster too, Farage is in Putin's pocket, there's high levels of global unrest and Europe who should be our closest allies hate Farage, can't see him being able to build any bridges there. And of course high levels of global unrest will mean more people seeking asylum, too.
I am disappointed with Labour especially re: disability benefits but I think Starmer is doing ok with international relations (building relationships again in Europe, also a couple of good trade deals and the deal with France re: the boats, not that any Reform supporters will take note).
Really hope Labour can turn things around. They're the lesser of the evils. Not sure Corbyn's new party is the answer either as it will split the centre/left vote and Corbyn has already lost two elections. I know he was victim of a horrendous smear campaign but also there are things he's weak on as well as things where he's strong. I suppose time will tell

Lots of people (left and right) have doubts and questions about the online safety act. Would you compare them all to Jimmy Savile?

No, Peter Kyle didn’t use coded and suggestive language (that’s what a dog whistle is) he said what he said and didn’t deny saying it 😂

YABU. I am beyond excited for Nigel to be our next PM. Labour have already lost my vote. Thank you Nigel for being the only one to speak up for SAHMs! It’s about time!!! Your ‘Children and Family’ contract matches my values, and I am delighted to have found a party I can vote for from the heart. I know so many others who love your policies on this and have already switched their vote. I am so delighted to know so many other mothers may now finally be able to afford to be a SAHM. It is the dream and best life for the whole family. Well said Nigel! 👏🏻🥂👌🏻👏🏻

He’s already pally with a paedo, and it’s in his interests to have kids exposed to misinformation and hatred etc while they are very impressionable and easily influenced so maybe that’s his agenda. He has vested interests in digital media. Reforms popularity has exploded through social media misinformation spreading, for one thing.

That hatred towards SAHMs and home makers on here is off the chart.

I meant every word. Change is coming, and it is long overdue.

I have to intercept here as it is me, Goldenbear that posted you can spot a Reform voter, I actually meant sight and sound combined if there is a preoccupation with migrants..leave PandoraSocks alone!

LevoitPotato · 01/08/2025 23:04

I can understand OP in the sense that I was very worried about what would happen once Labour got into power. Those worries have proven correct as they are worse than my worst nightmares.

No indeed but the stock market has risen during his time in office. Last time jobs grew in the us, their economy grew... he's us president not world president.

JohnTheRevelator · 01/08/2025 23:24

I believe Richard Tice,a Reform MP said that the majority of disability claimants were 'swinging the lead'. And that unemployed people should be 'forced to work in care homes'. Like that's going to work! He also said that 'mental health issues were the modern day equivalent of back pain' and that 'people should not be able to claim disability benefits for things like anxiety or depression, just because they are having a bad day,or a bad week'. I mean, seriously? Does he really believe that people get awarded these benefits on the basis of being fed up for a few days?
