I couldn’t sleep last night, worrying about a Reform government

Cluborange666 · 01/08/2025 09:15

I am really worried. I think they’ll wreck the economy. I’ve got a few years left to pay off my mortgage from my job that deals with immigrants. I don’t want our pensions to tank. I don’t want my sons’ lives to be messed around. I worry about more racism, the more ‘voice’ that Reform get. I live in a very multicultural city and non-white people tell me that they are experiencing more overt racism. It makes me feel very insecure about the future.

wish Labour would do more to show that they are on the side of ordinary people as I think that’s what is driving this (I’m a Labour voter). I don’t think the creation of Your Party will help, just give Reform more advantages.

Sigh. Happy to be told I’m unreasonable as I think the future looks bleak.

But your graph demonstrated nothing about what i asked "I would love to know what demographic myself and my friends are?" according to that poster by looks and voice.

I do not need you Gov poll that has taken a sample and not actual drilled down data for every single voter, it doesn't provide what you think it does there is a specific margin of error.

Why would I need You Gove to tell me, that me and my friends are degree or higher and ABC1 and fit into that voting group. How does that identify us as Reform voters?

Eh? I haven't been bigoted or called anyone names in my post? I posted some data from Yougov. How is that hot air?

Have you quoted the wrong poster?

I work in the public sector and I'm fully aware that if Reform get in then my service will be screwed along with the rest of the country.

However, that being said, I sort of want it to happen because it will be SUCH a shit show that the idiots that keep voting for these chumps will finally be forced to see Nigel for the grifter he is.

Farage’s supporters don’t see it though, which is what terrifies me. He is the epitome of talking a big game, yet failing to deliver. He had years to make a difference to the causes he claims to care about when he was an MEP, and he just never bothered to turn up and do the work. He has stated that he won’t hold constituency surgeries. Many of the issues being discussed here have been worsened by brexit, yet brexit voters will blame anything other than brexit for the negative impact it’s had. None of the promised benefits have been delivered.

Huge swathes of people seem to believe that smoking fags and embracing racism while failing to represent the electorate somehow turns a multi-millionaire into a man of the people.

It tends be hot air when its not relevant to the question and it doesn't provide any evidence of what is being discussed or requested its a lazy strawman redirection attempt.

All these voters don't see what exactly? Have you talked to them all or is this another post of hyperbole. Is this yet another left bias smear attempt at tarnishing a huge swathe of every day voters?

I don't mind the data you provided, it was just wholly irrelevant in answering my question.

Newringtone · 01/08/2025 15:58

If we get through the next 4 years of Labour without going completely bankrupt AND have a GE (although I wouldn’t trust them not to cancel that, they’ll do anything to try and cling to power), wouldn’t it be refreshing to have a government that tries to do the best for the country as a whole and doesn’t just snipe at the opposition, undoing any policies that the other has made, out of spite. Probably too much to hope for, I know.

That applies to Labour rn though. Pre GE and somehow their soundbites worked, if they fail to meet expectations then Reform could be in.

SilenceOfTheTimTams · 01/08/2025 16:12

OP, I do agree that a Reform government would be a terrible, terrible thing. I would never vote for Reform.

But I had a bad dream last night. I dreamt that a troupe of clowns had infiltrated Downing Street, taken over the government and were throwing custard pies, squirting water on people, promising to fix the economy, “smash the gangs”, sort out the NHS, and avoid being corrupt.

When I woke up I sadly realised that - apart from custard pies and joke shop squirty flowers - the nightmare was real.

millymollymoomoo · 01/08/2025 16:13

much more worried about labour over next 4 years . They are not on the side of anything British at all

a reform govt can’t come quick enough

Unlike yourself I would definitely not care about being identified as a Labour Voter but like you I certainly would hide the fact I would be voting for the migrant obsessed party.

No they are the bogeyman hiding under the bed! That must be how you can identify them by sight

Well if Labour hadn't fucked up so spectacularly on everything then maybe I wouldn't need to vote for the only party who can oust them in my constituency.

Wrapping yourself in a union jack and hanging around outside hotels. "I'm not racist or far right but they's all paedos innit."

Tatty247 · 01/08/2025 16:31

Farage is a narcissist up there with the likes of Trump and Putin - and my god he knows how to rile people up and manipulate them into doing what he wants. It's absolutely amazing that people listen to a word he says after the endless lies he peddled to get Brexit to happen - but people still don't seem to realise he's full of hot air and just saying what they want to hear so he can get what he wants. They want the foreigners out and any asshole who says they'll do it is getting their vote.

Clearly there are a lot of extraordinarily stupid people out there, look at all the people who voted for Trump! And you can't argue with stupid unfortunately.

Goldenbear · 01/08/2025 16:25

If you look at the people who intend to vote reform they are far more everyday than any other party voter.

Agrumpyknitter · 01/08/2025 16:33

Zov · 01/08/2025 09:23

Exactly this. Labour has proven pretty useless so far, and despite the promise to curb the number of illegal boats (after Reform wiped the floor with them several months back at the local elections,) they have done NOTHING, and more are coming into the UK than ever. This Labour Government is the worst we have ever had IMO.

Edited

We have had 14 years of Tory mismanagement- if they were better than labour then why didn’t they solve the boats problem? Why aren’t we living in utopia? My mortgage increased under Liz Truss who Farage agreed with and there will be more of the trickle down economics to come that will devastate the lives of ordinary people, not to mention no NHS under Reform.

If you think Reform will do a good job then look at how they’re running Staffordshire county council. When they were challenged on their policies all the Reform councillors came back with ‘we’ll get back to you when we’ve finished marking your homework’. They are a bunch of useless imbeciles and the OP is right to be concerned but I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

Well, if that describes your definition of British then that explains a lot.
