I couldn’t sleep last night, worrying about a Reform government

Cluborange666 · 01/08/2025 09:15

I am really worried. I think they’ll wreck the economy. I’ve got a few years left to pay off my mortgage from my job that deals with immigrants. I don’t want our pensions to tank. I don’t want my sons’ lives to be messed around. I worry about more racism, the more ‘voice’ that Reform get. I live in a very multicultural city and non-white people tell me that they are experiencing more overt racism. It makes me feel very insecure about the future.

wish Labour would do more to show that they are on the side of ordinary people as I think that’s what is driving this (I’m a Labour voter). I don’t think the creation of Your Party will help, just give Reform more advantages.

Sigh. Happy to be told I’m unreasonable as I think the future looks bleak.

My biggest fear with Reform is that they'll just be the Old People Party once in office, which is basically how the Tories governed for more than a decade.

Other than that I don't actually lose sleep over them, and I say that as someone who is very Remain. Progressivism has overrreached on a number of key issues (immigration, law & order, gender & identity woo, in SOME ways the benefits system & education system) and the UK probably needs a course correction. Personally I wish Labour could both administer that course correction AND lay the foundations for a revived UK economy, but I'm not optimistic. My suspicion is that the historic main parties both know certain things have to change and would rather let a Reform government do the dirty work, so I think a Reform government is what we'll get.

"My biggest fear with Reform is that they'll just be the Old People Party" Wow ageist much? 😳

So would you say that with age does not come wisdom and experience outside of the political field? Should parliament only run by 16-24 year olds?

Oh, so just terribly working class, Pandora? Have you got a radar for that?

😬 how terrible

skymagentatwo · 01/08/2025 15:14

Sorry where is the key? How does this tell me what demographic I am?
That table is just general statistical data.

Posting the demographics again with the NRS social grade key for clarity

AB: Higher and intermediate managerial, administrative and professional occupations

C1: Supervisory, clerical, and junior managerial, administrative and professional occupations

C2: Skilled manual occupations

DE: Semi-skilled and unskilled manual occupations; unemployed and lowest grade occupations

I couldn’t sleep last night, worrying about a Reform government

Goldenbear still wouldn't be able tell from looking at me 😉

You realise they’re just ordinary people? The same people who live in your street. The woman on the checkout. The man who delivers your mail. They’re not a separate demographic group like a bunch of skinheads! 🙄

There Jimmy Saville lived on someone's street once as did Fred and Rose West. Being a neighbour automatically does not automatically mean that someone will be a decent human being.

Reform is depending on the ignorance of their voters.

A turd in glitter is still a turd.

I think we should just pelt anyone who looks poor with eggs to be on the safe side.

🤣🤣 good thinking.
Probably best to do the same to anyone working in media etc in case they vote Labour though, just to be on the safe side.

How does that tell me how to tell a Reform voter in the flesh. What features they have etc. Goldenbear was convinced they could spot one so we are waiting for physical attributes etc

They start every conversation with 'I'm not racist or far right but...'

With a turnout of only 59.7% in 2024, how does this define what reform vote sounds and looks like?

Your simplistic copy and paste from google says nothing to answer this?

solando · 01/08/2025 15:27

The economy is being wrecked now, I would worry about the next four years

Why are you asking me? I didn't say that was possible, did I?

I was replying to @skymagentatwo who asked: please enlighten me what is a reform demographic? I would love to know what demographic myself and my friends are?

So I posted some demographics to be helpful🤷‍♀️

No, Goldenbear said they could recognise one by sight. Still no answer as to what a Reform voter looks like.........

Litterally noone who I know who voted/will vote for reform have started a sentence like this to me
Its been about wanting lower taxes, smaller government, NHS reform, a tougher stance on political correctness, and bold leadership that challenges the status quo.

Never said that and never would, as why would any one have to defend their freedom of speech. Its the left that assign labels as a method of control and to shut down opposing views.

I always wonder why they are so keen an shouting isms, and attaching labels then answer actual questions and have uncomfortable debate.

You asked about demographics of Reform voters. Your very words were: please enlighten me what is a reform demographic? I would love to know what demographic myself and my friends are?

I posted some info about demographics collated by Yougov.

I did not say a thing about what a Reform voter looks or sounds like, did I?

I don't think Yougov cut and pasted the data it from Google. But there we are.

100%
I have often found that people who put themselves in the liberal camp are the ones most militant about how people can't have different views from them. It's absolutely madness
I would never in a million years say that anyone who voted Labour was (insert whatever you wish here) but reform voters get "racist" "bigots" its ridiculous
Almost like people want to remove free speech or freedom of choice in democracy

Yet, when it comes to other left leaning ideas, were all expected to just comply and nod along. Its bonkers. The least tolerant group sit on the left in my opinion

I am sorry you can't understand how to interpret the Yougov data. It is presented very clearly IMHO. Here is a link to all the data collated in case it is of help:
