Immigration population up another 700k

Atallglassimdof · 30/07/2025 23:35

I understand that this country needs immigration but if you import 100,000s of low skilled workers, in their 30s and 40s, how are they going to fund their retirement or pay for their housing?

It just seems counterintuitive to bring loads of people into this country who will need considerable financial support ( housing benefits, pension credits) when they are no longer able to work, and don’t have the means to support themselves.

When will the naivetons learn about the rampant abuse of immigration system. They have led such sheltered lives that they have no idea what goes on in the real world. But argue like they have a clue.

So tell us more. Some actual research, facts and figures.

And do try to avoid name-calling.

Not saying they are all low skilled workers but a fair number are… care home workers for example.

The irony of you complaining that there will be nobody to look after them when they are old when they are the ones who are looking after our old people now (virtually all care home workers are immigrants).

Clearly you have never been a care home worker and well, I’m sure you will argue that it is technically described as a low skilled job fundamentally those people are actually quite highly skilled in keeping said residents that they’re looking after alive.

I am a support worker and I have many, many tasks many of which most people will not do and I am highly trained in anything from personal care to suicide prevention. Perhaps if it’s lowly skilled you wouldn’t mind doing it yourself!

Population increase of 700k… do we have the infrastructure to cope with this increase? Housing for example. This is a Ponzi scheme and will come crashing down.

umm, build more housing? It's not rocket science.

MoOp125 · 31/07/2025 23:04

You don’t need to provide any details of what is your idea of enrichment. It is very clear from your posts. Shallow mindset.

I personally rather love our countryside and don't want it being built over with houses for the world's diaspora. Although looking around where I live it's nearly too late on the crap house building front.

Did you know that it costs money to build housing? Shocking, isn’t it?

You’d expect the number of international students to be broadly net zero…. Yes, a lot come in to start their studies, but a similar number leave who have finished their studies.

The 700,000 figure is NET migration into the UK. Looking at the figures, it’s roughly 1.1m in, 400k out. International students are a red herring.

This is not the case because not many international students came in in 2020-2023 because of covid. They started again in 2023 and 2024 but these students have not finished their degrees yet and have not left. That is partly why we have a post-covid immigration 'bulge'

Yeah and did you know that immigrants are net tax contributors and they also pay rent. Happy to help.

There's a lot of room to increase housing capacity without building all over the countryside 🙄

I can only speak from personal experience in respect to the care home situation, I live in a very small town but we have 4 care homes (all full with waiting lists) also very pricey as most only have 1 or 2 non private rooms. We also have a massive elderly population. The workers on the whole are non English or very broken English people. They obviously have the caring skills but unfortunately the communication with unwell scared elderly is a very real problem, families are having to go in alot to reassure them etc. They don't stay very long, once the home has put them through their first training program they leave to work in the private home care facility. I'm afraid to say these are awful around here. 1 case I see daily 2 come at once spend at least 30-45 mins sat in their cars talking in their own language then 10-15 mins dealing with the gentleman, he's got out of bed at about 11.30 and put back at 5.30. I do understand that these roles are Underpaid. But I know 2 managers from care homes and they are offered subsidiaries to employ these people and do offer unsociable hours to put off the unemployed in our area, looking for full time employment, as those on zero hours contracts can also do other jobs as extras. ( Most of the unemployed here have small kids and we have no childcare options).

Lol are you for real? Your source is a ‘report’ from an immigration law firm?

MN is so funny it should be a skit.

If they're sitting in their cars, how do you know what language they are speaking? Not being snarky. Genuinely intrigued to know.

Also, have you reported them to whoever employs them?

People who ‘don’t mind’ immigration are usually the people who don’t live in the dog-shit areas populated by large numbers of low skilled immigrants.

They live in leafy Waitrose areas and send their kids to private school and just think most poor white people are ill-mannered and not very bright - that is why they’re all racists.

They love their neighbour Dr Otoje, and Magdana their cleaner is wonderful. And Ahmed who always keeps a lovely clean shop when they buy their daily copy of the Guardian. They can make an authentic Goan fish curry after a fantastic cooking class they went to on holiday in Goa.

They live the multicultural life, so they know exactly what they’re talking about.

This is total bull as in general people who live in diverse areas are more pro imigration and the zenophobes tend to live in areas where there are few immigrants. Do you live in a 'dog-shit area' or are you just making some assumptions here like all the other xenophobes from little England?

Unfortunately they don't have cars with logos on, they have the same work tops on, but without getting up close and personal I couldn't see which firm. They sit in their cars one behind the other with their windows open whilst I'm walking my dog so I can hear their conversations ( and I do understand several languages) can't work out a word! 😂
