Immigration population up another 700k

1000 replies

Atallglassimdof · 30/07/2025 23:35

I understand that this country needs immigration but if you import 100,000s of low skilled workers, in their 30s and 40s, how are they going to fund their retirement or pay for their housing?

It just seems counterintuitive to bring loads of people into this country who will need considerable financial support ( housing benefits, pension credits) when they are no longer able to work, and don’t have the means to support themselves.

Well that’s good because we’re in severe need of care home workers. And IME the immigrant colleagues were the most kind and caring. Local English people often less so.

Bit of a generalisation there. Are you saying in areas of low immigration the careworkers aren't kind and caring?

Jennps · 31/07/2025 09:35

Notonthestairs · 31/07/2025 09:32

A breakdown of that 10 million.

Aww nice try.

Now try a source that tells a full story and is not from years ago before the Tories decided that nothing less than a million immigrants a year net would be enough to get them kicked out of power.

And in any case, even that did tell the full story, I think it proves my point, so thanks.

This is why they say that a little knowledge is dangerous. Quoting statistics without being to use them is not a skill.

I wonder how they manage to get the visas to come here in the first place?

So many lies being peddled.

You wonder, do you? And that's a valuable contribution.

What lies are being peddled. Do tell.

Clue: I won't be holding my breath.

User8081 · 31/07/2025 09:37

Interesting that the majority of posts in this thread disagree with the premise of the OP, yet the polling shows the vast majority agreeing.

MN's vocal minority again...

Ive never heard it called that and have been on here since 2008

Me either. I’m wondering what SM the pp is on to think it’s the case.

Atallglassimdof · 30/07/2025 23:46

Not saying they are all low skilled workers but a fair number are… care home workers for example.

Back it up with actual sources (not from Nigel et al please) - otherwise you just sound dogwhistling, koolaid drinking “hygge racist”.
With love,
An “immigrant” (50s, white, highly educated, doing a job a UK citizen usually can’t, high tax payer, volunteer, governor, etc etc - for your ‘statistics’)

Minority and majority? Make your, ahem, mind up.

When voting came in on MN I vowed never to use it. A fuckwit's charter.

I can imagine an angry gender focussed male writing that. Bizarre some here take it seriously enough to believe it.

"Hygge racist"!!??? Are we now slagging Scandinavians off????

The lie that only 22% of schoolkids are white British. The lie that the government is recruiting for Sharia law posts. The lie that the UK is introducing Sharia law.

There are lots of other lies on this thread but making a list would be too time consuming as well as depressing.

And yes, I do wonder how people manage to obtain working visas, arrive here, then go straight on to benefits and obtain a free house. 🤔

Do they? thats not the impression i get.

But what many are saying is that curbing immigration will have costs, we will have to pay care workers far more and those in the NHS too & Universities will suffer, so we will need to fund these.

So far, those who want immigration reduced or stopped, can't say where the money will come from.... other than dividing up £135m train driver pay rise across 906k care workers.... an 8p an hour pay increase.....

The pp clarified the 22% was London.

These people are then all shocked and wide eyed when they get an electoral shock. Like Brexit.

‘Oh, however will Tarquin experience diversity in this wretched land of colonisers’?

I'm sure you felt very clever when you wrote that but you may wish to reread and reconsider, else leave it as it is and continue looking rather foolish.

Given the Brexit hit to GDP is why the Conservatives loosened immigration to bump GDP that would be almost funny.

When people can't mount an argument, and you haven't, they always go for tone.

And your response to my post “Yeah right” was an example of mounting an argument as to why I might be wrong about the blasphemy law? 🤣

Atallglassimdof · 31/07/2025 09:53

A lot of international students don’t bother finishing their degrees, once they’re here they switch from a student visa to a work visa. It’s something The Government is trying to curb.

Go to places like Hounslow and Southall. You’ll see 10 to 12 people living in a 3 bed house.

I don’t think it does. Like the pp I’ve been here for ages and have never seen it mentioned. There are always angry males writing nonsense about mn, they find it threatening. It’s one of the few female dominated places on the internet, which does have influence.

I wouldn’t help them by repeating their slop tbf

Student visa system is just a way for second rate ‘universities’ to sell immigration. What was once a world class education system is now made up of a few good universities and majority racketeering institutions which no one would pay to study in, if they were able to sell UK visas.
