OK, so they go to Downing Street to celebrate their win with the high and mighty of the land ... But who the f**k thought that combination of baggy trousers, grey, black, long shorts, low heeled shoes, a bit of white here and there was The Look?

Are they trying make them look like men because women's football shouldn't be allowed? Did any of them have the opportunity to say "actually, those big, baggy trousers don't suit me"? Because they don't for a lot of them...

For the dissection or for the men to win a major tournament?

The tournament!

SomeOfTheTrouble · 29/07/2025 12:54

The tournament!

Grin I know, men go on about it but women just get on with it!

TheCatsTongue · 29/07/2025 11:08

Nope. M&S are the official outfitter of all England squads.

The men had awful bomber jackets last year.

Yeah I remember a video with the team trying on the suits and shoes and a lot of them were clearly in wrong sizes/fit for some of the players. There is so much sartorial heritage in the UK, shame the team cannot use their visibility to highlight it.

100 THIS....

I could never imagine a guy strapping up their own leg the way Lucy Bronze did !

Sportswear! What’s wrong with a nice blouse!

I hope you’re joking, but it’s difficult to tell on this thread.

In case you aren’t: a) they are sportswomen so sportswear is completely appropriate - and b) much more fashionable for women their age than “a nice blouse”

😂

Onleemoi · 29/07/2025 13:55

Yes, very much joking. Baffled why anyone is talking about what these amazing women are wearing after what they’ve achieved.

marshmallowmix · 29/07/2025 14:15

I agree OP it’s bland and looks drab…

Mydadsbirthday · 29/07/2025 17:56

AFrolicOfMyOwn · 28/07/2025 22:28

I liked their outfits. They looked relaxed but well turned out - and although there was a colour scheme I had the impression all, or at least most of them, were wearing the things they were happiest with. (Hadn’t known about M&S sponsorship but that makes sense.)

And navy trousers would have turned them into cabin crew. At least they looked contemporary.

Edited

I just googled but I agree with this. They look fairly co-ordinated and like they chose what they liked best from the collection.

Personally I don't think the beige wide trousers are particularly flattering but overall they look fine.

OverVerdant · 29/07/2025 17:57

I think they look absolutely fine - tailored trousers and jackets? Bah! They don’t need to look like the blokes - they are more successful and female!

Sazza75 · 29/07/2025 17:58

It’s the official clothing designed by Marks and Spencer so they select what they wanted to wear from the combinations. The clothes are tailored, whether they’re the OP’s choice is neither here or there. They have made history and am sick of people picking at things. My 8 year old who didn’t want to play football anymore because she got sick of boys telling her she can’t play or is rubbish, has asked for a Hannah Hampton shirt and is practicing goal kicks.

Thatsthesizeofawatermelon · 29/07/2025 18:01

They looked dreadful.

Thankfully, how they look is the least interesting thing about them.

Lollipop81 · 29/07/2025 18:08

Would we be discussing the men’s outfits if they won? No we wouldn’t.

Inserthiliarioususernamehere · 29/07/2025 18:09

Wow. When did Mumsnet turn into Tattle Life? This post is just bitchy and unnecessary.

JustSawJohnny · 29/07/2025 00:40

YAAAAAWWWWWNNNNNNNN.

If they were men you wouldn't even think about what they're wearing.

And who TF even thinks to question baggy, beige tailored trousers?!!

Weird.

"And who TF even thinks to question baggy, beige tailored trousers?!!"

You don't know the actual meaning of the word tailored, do you?

Yes, we would:

Ok, they didn't win, but it would be discussed. Marks and Spencer pay to sponsor the team so it will be in a contract that the outfits need to be discussed. It's business - what's so hard to understand?

StarlightRobot · 29/07/2025 18:18

What is wrong with people?!?! When I saw the photo I thought they looked happy and felt so pleased for them- an incredible day that they will always remember and probably will tell their kids about the day they visited Downing Street. And yet on mumsnet women are criticising what they are wearing! I honestly don’t think this would happen in other countries. There is something wrong with awful, mean spirited, petty and simple minded British women of a certain snobby mumsnet ilk who are incapable of seeing joy when it is right in front of them. Who bloody cares about their trousers and shorts, and why on earth start publishing about it on the internet! It makes me so cross! I say this as a British citizen who emigrated here.

needtostopnamechanging · 29/07/2025 18:19

I remember playing footie as a youngster - I could only play mixed as there were no female teams to play in

it’s just great that they can come, play football and win

and it’s even better that they don’t feel the need to dress like tarts // show off their bodies , just wear sensible, comfortable, and I think quite nice , clothes

Vitrolinsanity · 29/07/2025 18:19

Frankly, I think M&S could’ve kitted out the national team much better. It’s not like they weren’t already amazing, and it’s not like M&S aren’t unaware of that.

You cannot beat the women’s achievements and their sheer joy. They could’ve worn sacking and still fizzed.

Vynalbob · 29/07/2025 18:20

They always want them to look like a sporting team, they do. It was probably a good compromise, I cannot imagine a men's team having this critique - which is a bid sad and kind of plays to the "anti women's football" crowd (or should that just be anti women🙄
