To think the Lionesses' Outfits in this Picture are Ridiculous?

OK, so they go to Downing Street to celebrate their win with the high and mighty of the land ... But who the f**k thought that combination of baggy trousers, grey, black, long shorts, low heeled shoes, a bit of white here and there was The Look?

Are they trying make them look like men because women's football shouldn't be allowed? Did any of them have the opportunity to say "actually, those big, baggy trousers don't suit me"? Because they don't for a lot of them...

I liked the outfits.

Exactly. Shock horror - someone's noticed they had 'improperly finished seams'. The world is coming to an end!

My thinking is more, these people are the best of us, so why not show them some respect and give them clothes that are at least properly finished.

MixedFeelingsNoFeelings · 29/07/2025 11:03

Well, the suits do look a bit cheap, polyester-y and shoddy to me tbh. Can't imagine the men's team rocking up in anything so JD Sports-like. Though doubtless they're expensive, designer, fashion forward, made in the UK etc.

Maybe it's a subtle message - "give us more funding!"?

Nope. M&S are the official outfitter of all England squads.

The men had awful bomber jackets last year.

AzurePanda · 29/07/2025 11:08

As someone who always comments on the men’s equivalent outfits, I agree with you. The wide legged trousers and slim fitting dark tops were a great idea but very poorly executed. The shorts are just appalling.

Britain still has some of the best fashion labels out there, a missed opportunity.

Jenkibuble · 29/07/2025 11:09

Are you in the 1950s ?

These women have fought to play a game that was disallowed for years !!!
They showed resilience , one even played with a broken bone.

An unbelievable comment. Who cares what they wear ?

Less judgement on looks and more on skills !!!!!

Give your head a wobble OP

countrygirl99 · 29/07/2025 11:16

All international teams, male and female, have a uniform. No uniform has ever been universally popular. Not totally derided is usually as good as they get. I challenge anyone on here to come up with a uniform that doesn't draw criticism.

RobertaFirmino · 29/07/2025 11:19

Who cares? These women have won the Euros for the second time. They can wear what they jolly well want. Who are we to tell other women what to wear anyhow?

Coffeeishot · 29/07/2025 10:59

Oh dear 😳

Ok, you possibly don’t realise, but the inner seam of a pair of trousers isn’t supposed to meet at an angle unless that’s the specific design choice.

Compare the photo I posted showing the inner seam on the barrel legged trousers with the ones on the M&S website. They’re different.

The website, being a professional shoot designed to encourage customers to part with cash, has strict quality control for the garments. The inner hem is straight.

The trousers worn to Downing St have an inner hem which meets at an inverted V. That’s an issue with sloppy cutting and assembly. It doesn’t look like that due to movement of the wearer, it’s due to lack of care in construction.

The Lionesses aren’t responsible for the sloppy manufacturing, M&S are.

They look great. Bang on trend actually.

Let me guess... Cynical boomer, hates Megan, comments on people's weight, and thinks all this gender stuff is ridiculous.. 😂

Great bit of ageism and stereotyping there 😃

They represented their country, on the pitch, where it mattered. They don’t need to ‘look’ anything.

If they don't need to look anything in particular M&S would not have paid them thousands of pounds.
As Miranda said, "It isn't just blue - it is cerulean"

EviesHat · 29/07/2025 11:26

@TheCatsTongue This is the last year M&S will be doing them apparently. Hopefully next time it’ll be a collaboration that really showcases British design.

Holijays · 29/07/2025 11:27

As soon as I saw this pic I thought they were in some sort of uniform?

Onleemoi · 29/07/2025 11:27

Anyone watching the open top bus parade? Let’s hope their outfits are acceptable. God forbid an uneven seam.

Summerholiday321 · 29/07/2025 11:27

I agree the beige trousers are not very flattering, but makes no difference at all to what they have achieved.

TitaniasAss · 29/07/2025 11:27

MollyMaidsRightArm · 29/07/2025 09:48

They are horrible clothes.

For the posters jumping on OP do you genuinely believe what you're saying?

The outfit is ghastly. It looks like cheap polyester, it doesn't fit properly anywhere, the colour is dire.

It' s quite possible to be sporty, role models and champs and look decent too.

Most of those women are very 'into' their appearances as you can tell by their coloured hair, nails, tatts, make up etc.

The look like something provided by the CCP- just dreadful.

Do I genuinely believe what I'm saying? That we should be commenting on their achievements, not their appearance? Um ... yes I do genuinely believe that, otherwise I wouldn't have said it.

Ooh, didn't know that! Dear old M&S. Sometimes I think they try so hard to be trendy they meet themselves coming back... to polyester slacks!

It’s their collection with M&S. the men’s team do it too.

I'd be more concerned about the mens losing kit

Hopefully, because I haven't been a fan of what M&S have done for either the men or women for years.

M&S did well for Gareth Southgate's waistcoat (which Phil Neville wore as the women's manager at the following tournament, although I doubt many followed women's football then and remember that).

It is a criticism of M&S who pay millions to do the outfits and have contractual demands that the players wear their outfits at these sort of occasions. The players have no say in it.

Yup. M&S has become a staple of my age group (I’m 26)

SomeOfTheTrouble · 29/07/2025 11:33

Well I for one can’t wait for the same level of dissection of the men’s outfits next time they win a major tournament.
We might be waiting a while though.
