To think The West is morally bankrupt

America democratically elects an adjudicate rapist who sympathises with racists, hates women and will do anything to hang onto power. The UK and it's lickspitrlw leader fawn over Trump and says that Israel has rhe right to cut off food and water to Gaza. Then wairs a year watching children die before saying it is intolerable. Except he is tolerating it.We all are.
The West is pumping out carbon at a vast rate and will no doubt reject the flood of refugees that this will cause.
The West takes more than it's fair share of the world's wealth. Much of the West is based on colonial exploration and murder of the global south.
I used to think we were the good guys.
We are not. We are one of the worst things ever to happen to the planet and it's inhabitants.

Isn’t it funny how the ‘west’ is held up as the mother of all evil and yet it’s the relatively safe democratic systems and economic stability that the flotsam and jetsome of the world’s fucked up places seek refuge in.

No, our systems aren’t perfect, and our leaders are flawed, but our fundamental values for the common good and our allegiance to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights means it weighs higher on the ‘morally bankrupt’ scale than other systems around the globe.

The West isn't the only place with shit people making awful decisions. The East is equally morally bereft. There's good and bad in both and both with people with good and bad morals.

If you get a job who sorts out your visa, are TB and certain other ilnesses free, it's pretty easy to move to UAE. I am not aware of several other stipulated non-negotiables tbh. As long as we are talking about UK assport holder.

What non Western county would allow people to make claims against their leader such as those or rape etc? Which non Western cou ties would allow Thier press to publish said claims? Which non Western country would all allegations and calls such as yours against their country and government ?

Which countries did not benefit from slaves? ( By this I don't mean black slaves, I mean slaves of all ethnicities). Did they or tribes within the lands not sell captives or undesirables to traders? Which countries who may have participated on slavery in the past took an active role in not only crashing their own slavery but actively trying to stop all slavery?

When former colonies of western powers gained independence did they thrown out all aspects of western influence to revert back before western ",contamination"? Went back to tribal rule and governance, destroyed nasty western railways and technology?

How would they like to live in a place where, when you go to the police for help, they demand money with menaces before very reluctantly agreeing to get off their backsides to enforce the law?

And those are just some of the milder problems.

The “West” is not more morally bankrupt than any other group.

You clearly have not experienced much of the “real” rest of world. The ones that hack limbs off albinos, the ones who chain-up or worse SEN kids, the ones who sell their children, boys & girls for exploitation, the ones who mutilate girls genitals, those who kill or enslave their neighboring tribes/religions, places where women cannot leave homes unsupervised, where women can’t get educated etc etc etc. Those groups that pollute the environment in many ways, exploit the environment but are not “Western”.
