Vaping is EVERYWHERE

So the kids are off on summer holidays and I am trying to find nice activities to do. Went to the cinema yesterday, and a father with her young daughter, just gets out his vape and has a puff right in front of me while we were waiting to go in.

Then today at a play centre, Im sat in the cafe and a mother gets out her vape and surreptitiously has some of the vape and the oncoming plume of smoke...in my bloody direction.

I've been in Tesco, and someone just used it casually as you like. When I mentioned it to staff, they just shrugged their shoulders....I didn't see it.

Its bad enough people inflicting others with their noisy phones, but why oh why do people do this?!! In areas where kids are playing???? I dont care that you are addicted...that is not my problem!! People who smoke are addicted and would never dream of lighting up a cig!!!

Rant over.....

I said YOU may as well fart in my face. Vapers may as well be farting from their lungs...and I agree, they have problems.

Vapers may as well be farting from their lungs...

Is this before or after they smear the passers-by with peanut butter?

Happy to be patronising if that's what you want to call it.

I've also said that I do actually agree with many of the objections to vapes. I've just stated that they do have their uses, if you bother to read any of my other posts. My own mother vapes after over 80 years of solid smoking and it is infinitely preferable. That's not to say that I like it, but I find it more acceptable and easier to be around her.

If that's patronising then so be it. I don't care.

Well ok, l don’t see your comparison though, according to you, there’s no difference in breathing in the same air, to breathing in someone’s vapes!
Bearing in mind, this about people vaping in enclosed spaces, they can vape as much as they like outside.
Calling people hysterical is patronising.People who are patronising, yes, exactly it, just don’t care

You’re not wrong. Vaping is disgusting.

It all sounds terrifically exotic.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 23/07/2025 21:59

Those billion dollar cigarette companies weren't going to allow the nicotine addicts die. It is extremely lucrative.
Now they've millions of new users.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 23/07/2025 22:14

It’s really is disgusting. It smells, and nobody really knows the health effects for the vaper or for the passive vapers. And whoever said it looks awful is right.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 23/07/2025 22:16

Most pubs or venues do not allow it, apparently.

MondayYogurt · 23/07/2025 22:19

Just be thankful they haven’t found a way to vape meth.

And all while riding a bicycle. It takes a lot of skill when you think about it.

JustSawJohnny · 23/07/2025 22:32

I hate it. Especially the scented ones. I'll probably get flamed for this, but I think it looks really chavvy too.

I was in a queue in front of a few mums with little ones in buggies a while back and they were constantly chuffing on vapes. Every one had a different but equally hideous flavour. It was like being slowly assaulted by pina colada, bubblegum and feckin mangoes 😣

It's a real shame because we've done such a good job as a society of cutting the number of smokers. I was only saying a few days ago when I saw a smoker walking through town how weird it looks now. It really seems like the smoking indoors ban etc has cut numbers massively, but now there are bloody vapers everywhere and they're brazen! They whip them out and take a puff without giving a single fuck!

Mehmeh22 · 23/07/2025 22:39

SilenceOfTheTimTams · 23/07/2025 21:21

So what?

You’re not in any danger. There’s nothing for you to wash out, like smell on your hair or clothes. There’s nothing illegal about vaping.

I despair of the controlling fuckwits that try to patrol everyone nowadays.

If you want to kill yourself slowly with all that sh*te, all power to you. Why inflict others though?

I certainly dont want my kids breathing it in while sat in a cafe, when they have no choice and no full understanding.

You're right, it may not be illegal but I'll certainly back any law change to make sure it is.

This all boils down to the lack of consideration for others.

I’m glad you’re here (from the days of the clearo and spinner threads, back when vaping wasn’t so dramatic!)

It’s been about for years, there’s been plenty of studies done
it is much much better than smoking which is the main point

It’s not the main point of the thread though, nobody’s saying people can’t vape, just saying, it’s not fair on other people when they’re vaping in cafes, inside bars, anywhere that is a public enclosed space.
People are vaping who have never smoked.Children are vaping, because vapes are being marketed like sweets.

If it created a plume of smoke then it wasn’t a vape. Vapes create steam. Like a kettle. HTH.

It is not steam, nothing of the sort, it's a cocktail of chemicals.

Yep. I can't believe that people are so naive and clueless that they think vapes are just 'steam' with a couple of flavours. Hell would freeze over before I would be sucking on these sticks of toxic chemicals.

YawnSoTired · 23/07/2025 23:24

Looks awful, folk walking around with them stuck to their mouth continuously. They can't go 2 steps without puffing away! Sad.

I didn't make the comparison you seem to be claiming. Just pointed out that all day every day we all breathe in stuff that has been in other people's lungs. Just air, droplets, anything. It has all very often been shared by other people and breathed in and out by them. It is unavoidable.

I didn't specify whether that came from people vaping. It was just a general comment in response to pps saying that they didn't want to breathe in anything at all that has been through other people's lungs/respiratory systems. That's clearly cloud cuckoo land. None of us live in sterile bubbles.

You were making a comparison, oh l’m sorry just pointing out, that we all breathe in what’s been in other peoples lungs, so as far as your concerned why should people have concerns over vaping.Again, a ridiculous comparison.l’m quite aware we don’t and expect to live in a sterile bubble.
If you want to vape, just vape outside, is that so difficult.

But then people still complain!
I mean we used to smoke inside then that went, then people smoked outside and people complained about that
now people complain about vaping outside in a pub garden or someone ahead of them in the street

Justchilling07 · 24/07/2025 00:21

@marmite2025I think the whole point of the thread some people are just vaping wherever they want, l was in hospital a while ago, someone was vaping inside the hospital.I stand by, it’s not ok to vape, around other people in a public enclosed space.I haven’t got a problem with people vaping outside, just indoors.Really don’t get why, that’s an issue to people who vape or smoke.

They're food flavours so if you have an allergy you'll already be used to navigating around them.

Vaping around other people is similar to walking up to strangers and smearing peanut butter on them.

Blimey, that's a new one for the bingo card 🙃

Yes, quite used to avoiding them in food. The added problem
of them being in the air is not welcome. It’s dangerous.

people being dismissive of allergies makes them more dangerous. If people thought about their actions it would be easier to leave the house.
