To quite like being fat?

There was one time that i was 9 stone. This year i am the heaviest i have ever been.

Every week for that last year i have been thinking that i must lose weight, and i have been trying every diet , and thinking about food all the time.

I was so stressed from it all that i decided to give myself and not think about dieting for one month.

I was just thinking this month, I quite emjoy being fat. Im not morbidly obese, i am fat.

I feel nice and warm and cozy

When i was thin, i rememember feeling cold and having low energy a lot.

Has anyone else felt the same?

You feel happy that you are obese? Ok then. Munch on.

Fucking rude.

There you go. I was pushed into giving my BMI, then i get abused for giving my BMI.

Which i knew would happen..

BMI says I am obese.

Yet i fit into size 16 which i think is quite average.

I don't like being overweight, but I definitely did feel cold when I was thin. It was also much more uncomfortable to sit down for long periods, I guess my bum was bony.

My, there are some self-haters on here who can't stand op being happy.

FighterPilotSwifts · 22/07/2025 18:39

God forbid you are fat and happy that's unacceptable 🙄
Why are you feeling happier at the moment, is it a physical thing or because you're not dieting and putting pressure on yourself?

Flumpflimpo · 22/07/2025 18:40

LadyTable · 22/07/2025 18:33

So why are you planning to make yourself unhappy in September, if your happy being overweight?

You're not making sense.

I am making perfect sense.

I am saying that i feel mentally and physically great being fat.

However i also feel the severe western society pressure to be thin. Which is why i will start a diet again in september.

Pressure to be thin is only in our culture. Ive been to India. In India, people are admired for bing fat.

I told them that people are always trying to be thin in my culture. They said "what, people do that out of choice?"
Because to them: thinness is a sign of lack of food and sickness.

If you feel good physically, and feel happy then that’s brilliant. Why even bother trying to lose weight come September if you feel as great as you say you do.

Im the opposite, anything above 11 stone which is a size 12 for me, I feel as fat as fuck and I wouldn’t let it go any further. I wish I could feel the way you feel but it’s never going to happen. Just no.

I think mentally i feel great, because i have stopped the constant diet and stress about food

And when i stopped to think how i felt physically, I realised that my body feels really strong and healthy.

You are delusional. You are telling people you are happy being obese yet have tried every diet under the sun. You intend to lose weight after a Summer of just eating whatever you want and blaming it on society expectations. If you could eat anything you want and be slimmer of course you would want to be slimmer. The fact is you can't so it's easy to pretend you don't care "just for the Summer" so you can eat all around you and say you are happy being fat.

I would hate to be as angry as you! Imagine getting that angry!

Do you have anger issues. You can get therapy for that.

I think if I was pretty, I'd enjoy being fat! My sil is chubby (actually I think she's more than chubby, she is probably obese or more) and looks stunning!! If I looked like her, I wouldn't mind my weight and would embrace being bigger. You get to eat what you like, feel warm and comfortable etc...

However, I'm not pretty! I have a big nose, thin hair, small head and broad shoulders. I just look awful when I'm fat. When I'm thinner I look a lot better because at least my small head doesn't look as out of proportion! And a big nose on a slim face is better than on top of triple chins!!

If you are so blissfully happy you would not care about what other people thought. You are obese, not fat. You are setting yourself up for health problems. How can you say you are happy about that?

I apologise if I came across as pushy. I was concerned this was going to be a disguised, teeny-tiny fat bashing thread posted by someone who was a size six and 5lb over their ideal weight or similar. Those threads can be quite upsetting to people who are severely overweight.

If you can post those two sentences, you can post the two numbers that would describe your BMI.

What the what??? She owes you her weight and health info on demand?

Flumpflimpo happy to hear that you are in a good place with your weight and mental health. If you don’t have physical limitations and feel good in your body, enjoy.

Because i am happy.

And i also dont think the bmi calculators are that accurate either.

It told my friend that she is obese, and she is a size 14

I'm the opposite! Spent my whole adult life being fat.

I'm now 9st and loving it!

You don’t need endorsement from this thread, honestly… if you are tiptop happy having your BMI in the obese category, then ride it.

Being thin doesn't necessarily mean you're healthy. Make being healthy (mentally and physically) your goal, and that all starts with having good self-esteem, so I'd say you're definitely on your way to good health!

Came to say this exact thing but you beat me to it!!

As long as you’re happy OP, you feel good about yourself physically and mentally, you’re winning.
I’ve always had an awful relationship with food. When I feel stress or negative emotions, the first thing to disappear is my appetite. When I went through my divorce, I went through a period where I didn’t eat a single scrap of solid food for 9 days.
When I met my now-DH, I thought I looked great. I weight about 95lbs, and I’m 5’5” 🫠 I didn’t look great, I looked unwell. Then my periods stopped and went to the doctor and he told me I had all the signs of malnutrition.
I’m a few years down the line now and within the healthy weight range for my height for the first time in my adult life. My jeans are bigger, and the fun places jiggle a little……but I feel SO much better. I enjoy food now. My blood-pressure no longer drops out of my arse when I stand up. My skin no longer looks like that of a Victorian urchin dying of influenza 🫠
Skinny absolutely does not equate healthy.

Well the best thing to do is not care what society says and I am with you on that but just be careful you don't give yourself health problems further on down the line.

It is good that the OP says that she is happy, but she is giving mixed signals. Why bother trying to go back on a diet in September? That makes little sense, if she is as happy as she claims to be.

Elektra1 · 22/07/2025 18:49

When I was heavier, I got more tired and found exercise harder. I lost a lot of weight quickly (personal trauma, not intentional) and found that exercise was easier and I had more energy. Everyone’s
different, perhaps.

Because of Western society.
