There was one time that i was 9 stone. This year i am the heaviest i have ever been.

Every week for that last year i have been thinking that i must lose weight, and i have been trying every diet , and thinking about food all the time.

I was so stressed from it all that i decided to give myself and not think about dieting for one month.

I was just thinking this month, I quite emjoy being fat. Im not morbidly obese, i am fat.

I feel nice and warm and cozy

When i was thin, i rememember feeling cold and having low energy a lot.

Has anyone else felt the same?

If you can post those two sentences, you can post the two numbers that would describe your BMI.

Jesus the demanding people on here. Calm down.

No because i know my weight, but i dont know my bmi. I will have to put into a bmi calculator...which takes time

I’ve just lost 3.5 stone and am now just over 9 stone - I feel great.

yanbu to be happy with your body

usedtobeaylis · 22/07/2025 18:20

I think being happy with who and what we are is something we all strive for. Ultimately there have always been fat people and I don't think it's wrong that some people will remain fat. I do think though that many of us convince ourselves we're happy that way and it's just something to be wary about.

If you are happy, don't let anyone suck it out of you by arguing on here about it.

Jellybean23 · 22/07/2025 18:21

If you are maybe going to try losing the weight in September, it sounds like you’re not totally happy about being fat.

She doesn't have to do anything, stop being a dick.

She doesn't have to, no, but I'm pointing out her "It's so wonderful to be fat" posts don't mean a lot without knowing whether she is fat, and if so, how fat. All she has said is that she isn't morbidly obese - there's a very large window between 'healthy' and 'morbidly obese'.

Flumpflimpo · 22/07/2025 18:22

I checked the bmi.

I have a bmi of 32 . I am obese class 1 according to the bmi.

Im fitting into size 16 in clothes

And nobody has to tell you their exact weight or bmi, if they dont want to.

I’ve lost 4 stone, technically I need to loose another stone to reach a BMI of 25. So according to the numbers I’m still overweight. I’m not going to aim for it, I’m perfectly happy where I am. My body feels great. Shockingly, I know some on here would have me loathe myself, I didn’t hate myself when I weighed almost 16 stone. Fortunately I knew that being fat didn’t make me a reprehensible human being. If you’re happy right now Op good for you, enjoy your summer without stressing about the endless nightmare of trying to control your weight.

everythingsnotmadeofgold · 22/07/2025 18:23

You are not fat and happy or else you would not have tried every diet under the sun nor be planning another for the end of Summer.

You are happy because you are not dieting and worrying about food. You feel great because you are eating whatever you want and are not depriving yourself.

Changedasouting · 22/07/2025 18:23

I’ve been a size 26 obese my entire adult life. I am now a size 8-10 definitely prefer being smaller

I am happy being fat.

However i feel the societal pressure to be thin. I feel like society says it is "wrong" to be fat.

You do you.
I’ve been fat in the past, 12 stone, and I looked awful and felt like a whale.
I’m 9 stone now, eat healthily, and look great and feel great.

See my post above. I am happy.

It is western society that tells me that i need to be thin and i feel the pressure from society.

Again, you are happy because you are eating whatever you want. You are NOT happy because you are obese. You are happy that you have given up the diet mentality for the Summer and allowing yourself to eat without being restricted.

AntiquePenguin · 22/07/2025 18:27

Flumpflimpo · 22/07/2025 18:23

And nobody has to tell you their exact weight or bmi, if they dont want to.

Nobody has to, but you asked if you were being unreasonable to be happy being "fat" so it's reasonable to ask you to quantify being "fat" in order to answer the question.

If your BMI is 32, I don't think YABU, it would depend how you carried the weight and on your general health, but a BMI of 32 shouldn't cause great discomfort in daily life.

LadyTable · 22/07/2025 18:27

I think there's a big difference between happiness and relief, although they can sometimes feel like the same thing.

You obviously feel relief now you've decided to stop dieting if it was making you miserable.

But if you were truly happy being fat, you wouldn't have bothered trying to lose weight in the first place.

But it's your health and your body, and nothing to do with anyone else really.

How tall are you op because that would make a difference too. Though that's not a demand btw, just to get a clear picture 😁

No i also feel physcially good and i feel happy.

Why are you trying to tell me what i feel. Surely i know myself, better than you do?

I love never being hungry and rarely being hit on by creepy men or wolf whistled at. I lost a few pounds recently, and felt the male gaze returning. No thanks!

AntiquePenguin · 22/07/2025 17:58

When you say 'fat' - what is your BMI?

It's bloody uncomfortable being genuinely fat. In summer you're too hot and have to contend with thigh chafing. In winter you're still too hot because everyone else has the heating up.

Exactly. If your BMI is above the recommended ratio for your height your health will be at risk.

IShouldNotCoco · 22/07/2025 18:31

For me I hate not being slim. It makes me miserable. I have a very small frame and put weight on depressingly easily. If I’m slim feel more confident. I am generally considered to be good looking and become invisible if I’m overweight. Though, the flip side is that women are much nicer to me.

I really think each to their own though.

So why are you planning to make yourself unhappy in September, if your happy being overweight?

You're not making sense.
