Flumpflimpo · 22/07/2025 17:33

There was one time that i was 9 stone. This year i am the heaviest i have ever been.

Every week for that last year i have been thinking that i must lose weight, and i have been trying every diet , and thinking about food all the time.

I was so stressed from it all that i decided to give myself and not think about dieting for one month.

I was just thinking this month, I quite emjoy being fat. Im not morbidly obese, i am fat.

I feel nice and warm and cozy

When i was thin, i rememember feeling cold and having low energy a lot.

Has anyone else felt the same?

My BMI was 29.6 and because I was feeling meh I had a blood test and my liver function was high. I don't drink alcohol. I has an ultrasound scan and I had a fatty liver, a liver cyst and gallstones which weren't causing any problems. I went on a diet using Nutracheck and I lost just over 2 stone and have a bmi of 23.3. A follow up scan was normal, I'd reversed my fatty liver.

it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside it's what you look like on the inside that causes problems.

I love never being hungry and rarely being hit on by creepy men or wolf whistled at. I lost a few pounds recently, and felt the male gaze returning. No thanks!

I agree with this tbh. I'm happiest with a BMI of about 26-28. When I got down to a BMI of 24, which with my build is a size 10, I was shocked that the creepy, arrogant type of man who feels entitled to demand attention from women uninvited resurfaced as I thought my age would have made me invisible by now. Apparently not yet.

Additionally my mother is so transparently gloaty and ingratiatingly congratulatory in comparison to her manner when I'm bigger if I'm a size 10 when she sees me after a longer break that it's enough to make me want to eat a barrel of ice-cream.

I carry weight ok and have never in my life been sedentary - I am on my feet for nine hours at work, and I get up at 5am to walk before hand for the sake of my mental health, and I feel good up to a BMI of around 30, but because I do time restricted eating my BMI only goes above that when I'm stress eating, which often means I'm eating too frequently and too much sugar, anyway.

I like how I feel and am treated by pretty much everyone when just a bit overweight, not too much but a bit, best though.

I had a brief dalliance with chubby. Not obese, but I was bursting out of my size 14 trousers. I was miserable. I felt I looked awful and I avoided being photographed and full
length mirrors. I had a moon face and a double chin. It really did not suit me.

I stopped walking around naked as I didn’t want my husband to see me (now I’ve lost the weight, he’s admitted he hated it, so it was a good thing).

I think body confidence is a great thing, but I don’t get how anyone and say they like being fat.

Your husband sounds like a dick and a disappointment and I am sorry that he couldn’t feel the same about you when you were a bit larger. I’m not sure I could forgive someone being so superficial.

We have yet to establish you are fat, OP, so your trumpeting about how marvellous you're feeling doesn't mean a lot. Again, what is your BMI? I suspect you'll turn out to be at the upper end of 'healthy' or at most, a stone or so overweight.

Exaxtly this.

I was 9st before I had my kids. I’ve PILED on two stone, and I feel pretty large. My BMI is 24, I’m still ‘normal’ even if I’m fatter than I was.

If my husband put on a lot of weight, I would hate it too.

No I feel great, I have to say!

Are you sure you're fat? Maybe you're just not skinny anymore.

foodymcfoodface · 22/07/2025 21:23

I am petite so when I’m light then I’m constantly cold and have trouble opening doors! So i totally get it. a bit of weight is helpful, but avoiding being too overweight as unhealthy

You'd have to look at it from a BMI standard. There's a section for overweight and obese. It's just better to lose the weight and stay healthy. Forget men and cat calling x

AntiquePenguin · 22/07/2025 17:58

When you say 'fat' - what is your BMI?

It's bloody uncomfortable being genuinely fat. In summer you're too hot and have to contend with thigh chafing. In winter you're still too hot because everyone else has the heating up.

was 19+ st till recently, I’m always cold no matter what time of the year it is, and no I don’t get thigh chafing.
its not the same for everyone overweight

It's none of your business what her BMI is

Maternityleavelady · 22/07/2025 21:29

I am about the same weight and BMI as you OP and when I used to be thinner I was cold all the time! I am perfectly adapted for UK winters now! And yes it is only other people that make me think I need to slim down, I am very happy the size I am.

DollydaydreamTheThird · 22/07/2025 21:29

LadyTable · 22/07/2025 19:19

This sort of thread has been done to death over the years.

Mostly by people who are confusing feeling relieved that they don't have to diet anymore, with feeling genuinely happy that they're obese.

I'm pretty sure if any of them could click their fingers and be slim, they'd do it in a heartbeat though.

It's called mounjaro/wegovy etc. It exists. OP clearly not interested in that.

Yes, when I was bigger I was freezing, I’m now 8 stone and still freezing. I don’t know why people think everyone who’s fat must be a hot sweaty mess all the time.

Mounjaro/ wegovy isnt a magic cure.

I know people that took it. They just had terrible side effects and didnt lose any weight.

Pyjamatimenow · 22/07/2025 21:31

Some people carry weight better than others. Whatever you’re happy with op.

icantgetnopeace · 22/07/2025 21:32

There is a middle ground though, where you can eat healthily without being on a diet, and because you’re eating nutritious food you won’t feel cold and weak. It would probably lead you to the sort of weight where people won’t judge you as fat (I don’t think 16 is average in the UK, isn’t it 12-14?)
I’m not a thin person btw. I’m a 12-14 but quite heavy at 11st, pretty sure I’m in the overweight category. I don’t diet, but I try and eat nutritious food and I feel pretty strong and fit for my age.

Tiswa · 22/07/2025 21:33

@Flumpflimpo has said what her BMI is!

I get it I have spent my adult life thinking I was fat (when I wasn’t the wake up call of finding clothes from when I was in my early 20s that fit my 16 year old BMI 21 DD was an eye opener

I have spent too much of my adult life chasing something I won’t get - I like you am now fat (although don’t show it in the face no double chin for me and I have cheekbones my skin is amazing and I look 5/6 years younger

I am focusing on eating right and a little of what I fancy when I fancy it rather than restricting and exercising keeping my fitness up

DollydaydreamTheThird · 22/07/2025 21:29

Neither am I the effects on the face (which for me has cheekbones anyway due to genetics even though I am obese and I don’t want it for other personal reasons

Sportsdaywinner · 22/07/2025 21:26

OP has made this everyone's business by asking on a public forum if she's unreasonable to be happy at her weight.

That's a drug with side effects.

Hardly the same as clicking your fingers and being slim.

TipsyFairyHicHicHic · 22/07/2025 21:38

If you were really happy being fat you'd not need to broadcast it.

I don't believe you.

It's your life.

If you are happy to accept the higher risks of heart disease, cancer and diabetes, carry on.

But please stop pretending you're happy and also ignore the risks to your health.
