Not really seen anyone do a thread like this so share your funny moments. This can be anything, Wether it's a guest interview that was funny say the guest said something that made the presenters laugh or a funny song the presenters did or anytihng else. Let me know what it was, and when it was

Years ago on the Chris Moyles show... the song lorry driver. Used to love listening to his breakfast show on the morning train going into work.

MeringueOutang · 20/07/2025 16:05

This thread is oddly specific. 🤣
But for me it was Chris Moyles with Dogs Don't Kill People, Rabbits Do.
Also Scott Mills when he did R1 breakfast, with that diary... was it Laura's Diary or something?
Also Flirt Divert. Some of those were hilarious and R1 were providing a valuable service to women.
Breakfast radio is lacklustre now. Even Scott Mills isn't as funny as he used to be, I don't know if R2 just don't let him lower the tone or if he's just grown up a bit these days. 😅 Although that thing the other morning where he went out onto the BBC balcony to play the song from Evita was quite funny.

This is a classic. My favourite: "In what month does a woman start to look pregnant?" MN will be amazed by his answer🤣

I came here to say Chris Moyles. Not one particular moment, but I remember sitting in traffic on the way to work seeing people going in the other direction in the traffic laughing at the very same time. Good memories

It has just dawned on me that I have never laughter to the radio, not once. TV, yes, on occasion.

FlyingontheGround · 20/07/2025 16:13

Moyles is still on Monday to Saturday on Radio X if anyone is missing him. He and his team are still funny and I like the interaction they have with Toby Tarrant who’s on after them x

JMSA · 20/07/2025 16:14

God, that makes me sound like a misery. I promise I’m not!

WildCherryBlossom · 20/07/2025 16:14

Yup - Chris Moyles. Greggs sent in samples of their new range of baked good inspired jewellery. Producer Pippa got one of earrings stuck in her ear. She had a function that evening very nearly had to go sporting a Golden Gregg’s Sausage Roll.

MeringueOutang · 20/07/2025 16:17

@FlyingontheGround Do you know if you can get Radio X on a car radio? I'd heard he was still broadcasting but don't seem to be able to tune to the station by just flicking up and down the frequencies. I do like Scott Mills as well, but Chris Moyles was spectacular, I still can't really believe that the Beeb didn't do more to get him to stay.

Not too sure

You're 'not too sure'? So what made you think of this intriguingly specific set of circumstances?

Have you ever listened to I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue on radio 4. That’ll make you laugh I think.

KnickerlessParsons · 20/07/2025 16:21

Terry Wogan (RIP) used to make me laugh like a drain every morni g

Yes, on 104.9 FM in London, and on DAB in most of the UK.

Omeara · 20/07/2025 16:22

Chris Tarrant on Capital Radio many moons ago. I don’t even remember the full segment but it was something to do with a hole in a bucket and it made me laugh because he was killing himself laughing.

It was a great breakfast show, Capital Radio was fantastic in the late 80s & early 90s.

MasterBeth · 20/07/2025 16:22

Yes, there was very funny moment on Radio Orwell on 14th October 1981 at 8.27 that made me laugh like a drain.

Oh, it's the Capital fm end credits to their show as mentioned in a previous thread

Back in about 1989/90 Chris Tarrant had a breakfast radio show. One day, right at the end of the show - I think it was his birthday - he began laughing hysterically and couldn't speak. I was stuck in traffic and watched as all the drivers around me also started laughing, it must have gone on for about 5 minutes! IIRC someone had walked into the studio naked with a birthday cake!

ohyesido · 20/07/2025 16:25

Chris Moyles was funny but he went down in my estimation when he did the countdown to Charlotte Church’s 16th birthday. Ick

SprayWhiteDung · 20/07/2025 16:25

Every single Janet & John story that Terry Wogan read out.

I really miss Terry Sad

Oh!
Memory unlocked with Laura’s Diary! That used to really make me laugh 🤣
I’d totally forgotten about that!

A quick check; sometime between 1987-2004!

Nourishinghandcream · 20/07/2025 16:31

The Janet And John stories read by the late, great Terry Wogan.
There were so many and many of them quite near the knuckle but my word, they were just sooooo funny.🤣
I was often driving when he read them out and if possible I would pull over so I could enjoy them. You would always see other drivers laughing and you just knew they were also tuned into R2.
Have all the CD's (released to support Children In Need) and still play them from time to time as they are so great.

Was never a TOGG (too young back then) but wish the great man was still around as the current offerings on R2 are unlistenable.
Are now firmly tuned into GHR.
