Not really seen anyone do a thread like this so share your funny moments. This can be anything, Wether it's a guest interview that was funny say the guest said something that made the presenters laugh or a funny song the presenters did or anytihng else. Let me know what it was, and when it was

Yes, on 104.9 FM in London, and on DAB in most of the UK.

And Manchester on 97.7 FM.

You can still listen to Chris Moyles on Radio X every morning. He and Dom have me laughing everyday

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 20/07/2025 16:36

About as unPC as possible - it was Chris Moyles interviewing Jeremy Clarkson. I don't remember much about it other than JC about to start reading out his credit card number and CM absolutely panicking and shouting 'no! No, don't tell them THAT!'

I don't remember anything else about it, other than laughing like a drain at the pair of them.

Yes, there was very funny moment on Radio Orwell on 14th October 1981 at 8.27 that made me laugh like a drain.

🤣

Flirt divert!

Not sure if it was breakfast show or one of their other slots, but Mark and Lard referring to someone as ‘psycho Charlie knobcheese’ stands out, but really almost everything they did made me laugh.

Oh it’s awful but another time there was some scenario where they were looking at something or other in a shop window, Lard says ‘there’s the one I’d get’ and Mark says ‘don’t talk about Gabrielle like that’ - so niche and not kind, but it still makes me giggle thinking about it. I’m not even sure whether Gabrielle was part of the set up or it was completely random. I remember snorting with laughter on the bus listening to it on my Walkman.

I actually have very mixed feelings about Chris Moyles, he was awfully sexist, creepy and just plain awful at times and I actually stopped listening to radio X in the mornings once he came over. No denying there’s some funny stuff but often really mean spirited and I always had the sense underneath that he’s a nasty piece of work. That said, the parody songs would make me laugh - remember ‘Totally addicted to Plaice‘ ticking me.

Chris Moyes show, Carrie reporting from Wimbledon centre court, having to share the space with her recent ex boyfriend and deliberately gatecrashing his live breakfast telly report will always be one of the funniest things I have ever heard.

Not the same for me.
Dom is ace but it needs the whole gang, Chris, Dave , Dom, Aled, Carrie and Rachel.

PuppyMonkey · 20/07/2025 16:53

I remember Chris Moyles saying one funny thing after playing Travis:

”Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied at 17? No, mate, it’s because you live in Scotland.”

SaintGermain · 20/07/2025 16:54

Not a breakfast show but Steve Penk in circa 2004 had a late evening show and people could phone in. A teenage boy called in and halfway through the call his mum walked into his bedroom and had a go at him for not being asleep in bed!

I don’t think it was staged, I hope not as it was genuinely very funny.

Dolamroth · 20/07/2025 16:56

I used to like the confessions segment on R1 when it was Simon Mayo many moons ago.

StellaLaBella · 20/07/2025 16:57

Irish contingent weighing in, also loved Tel’s Janet and John segments but there’s been some crackers on our own national broadcaster over the years.

Larry ‘They Didn’t Suit You Today’ Gogan’s Just A Minute quizzes were a constant goldmine;
“Where is the Taj Mahal?”
“Opposite the dental hospital”

“Name something that flies that doesn’t have an engine”
”A bicycle with wings!”

Much more infamously was the time on the Gerry Ryan show where he asked listeners if they’d prefer to be buried or creamated;
Some bowser calls in, “Oh, buried Gerry”
”Oh, and where would you like to be buried?”
“UP TO ME BOLLIX IN BIBI BASKIN”

Aunty could never 🤣

So many in the Simon May Confessions slot. So glad he's carried that slot on with it on Greatest Hits Radio.

BeamMeUpCountMeIn · 20/07/2025 17:02

Chris Moyles & team, Totally Addicted to Plaice. A fish themed comedy song. This would have been well over a decade ago. Their Zoo format show worked so well.

Bonsaibaby · 20/07/2025 17:11

Romesh never fails to make me laugh, he and Sally traffic have some hilarious conversations.
used to love Terry Wogan and trying to finish a tune on the pips at 8am

In 2001, I think, Radio 2 had a thing about nutmegs in your pocket.

Giving the link one last try in case it works this time...

I've just introduced my three year old to this and now she's doing wiggly fish actions with her hands while singing "fishy wishy" at the top of her voice.

EveryKneeShallBow · 20/07/2025 17:25

James Naughtie calling Jeremy hunt a cunt when he was Culture Secretary. Radio 4 circa 2010.

WildCherryBlossom · 20/07/2025 17:27

Oh yes @EveryKneeShallBowI remember that moment so clearly! Brilliant radio 😂😂😂

ImWearingPantaloons · 20/07/2025 17:34

Any of the Chris Moyles parody songs. All utterly brilliant.

Klp122 · 20/07/2025 17:38

When Chris Evans randomly played the Benny Hill Show theme tune, this was back around 2013-2014 but it did make me laugh on my horrible commute into the city centre.

Klp122 · 20/07/2025 17:40

I can't remember him making me laugh but Steve Jackson on Kiss 100 FM back in the early/mid 90s was the best breakfast DJ.

When Alan Brazil on Talk Sport was fooled into saying his next caller was Tess Tickle from Norwich
