Raynor Winn/Sally Walker's statement Raynor Winn

New posters welcome. It would be helpful to read at least the four Observer items above before posting.

To all - Please be extremely cautious when it comes to naming or implicating people and addresses not in the public eye or with no direct connection to the story, and around the understandable health speculations, especially where details are unclear or still emerging. Please do not engage with possible visitors who seem to have their own agenda and seek to derail.

We have done amazingly well together - in the main that is, not mentioning any names but you know who you are! - for seven threads so far. I can't be on the threads as much as I'd like so all help with keeping our discussion ticking along in a healthy and civil fashion is very welcome.

No saltiness. Keep to the path. Thank you.

Thank you @Aspanielstolemysanity . You are doing the Lords work.

ETA: just google loads of Simon Armitage. That'll balance your search history.

You are bringing this thread and Mumsnet into disrepute, using language like that.

As the OP, I must point out that it is not in the spirit of this thread and ask you not to drag it down to that level. This is a civil thread. Thread 8 in a series of civil threads in fact.

Is it acceptable in its unhyphenated form? If not, I wish to explain that it was a very busy time and mistakes were made

It's in her replies, not her posts. On 16 Jul she posted the clip of the MP in the HoC comparing Starmer's speech to TSP. Someone asks her 'is there more to come on this saga?' and she replies 'worth buying the Observer this Sunday.'

That was our very own @Catwith69lives

(Who posted about it and shared a screenshot.)

I would but I have a neurological condition that would mean walking on rough terrain would be ill-advised if not outright dangerous

I am doing a good job of neglecting re-wilding the back garden though

I would have had him on the list of people I would quite happily take a good dunking from, until I saw the picture of him with Russell Brand !

I didn't, until only narrowly escaped from a crazed attacker in broad daylight in my lovely leafy MC village.

Until then, i.walked happily back from work, or evening classes,.or nights out. But that shook me to the core.

It took me a long time (and a house move) before I felt like walking on my own even in the day time

Very sorry indeed to read that @Aspanielstolemysanity. What a terrifying experience!
Thank goodness it hasn't happened to me, but a couple of times I've pulled out of a solo walk because of bad vibes. I'm naturally pretty bold and careless, but the most recent time I freaked out was on one of my daily local walks, taken later than usual, towards sunset. I had a sudden, totally unsubstantiated sense of someone hiding among the coppiced trees along my route. Phoned DH, who came and picked me up without question. Thought he might be dismissive, but his view was that I was always right to trust my sixth sense. 😮

I would happily accept a fudge bar miracle cure.... Maybe I should approach Penguin for the book deal, I can make up work out the finer details later

Of course you should. And if history repeats itself then they'll probably give you one. No questions asked.

No. It just surprises me. I am very widely read and was loaned TSP and found it dreadful. I fail to grasp what others saw in it. That's all.

Seems someone else is desperately on the hunt for How Not to Dal Dy Dir (this user seems unlikely to be CH based on other reddit posts).

Anyone who has a copy can pretty much name their price!!!

A good investment after all, even if you don't win a heavily mortgaged house!

TonstantWeader · 19/07/2025 22:59

Jeez, that's awful, @DisappointedReader . We had families allegedly couriering luggage across the border to not get caught travelling to their second homes, but nothing like that. And then getting v cross when the locals dobbed them in for being here.....

Simon Armitage was on Loose Ends tonight.
Unbelievably, when Stuart Maconie asked him if he was thinking of writing a cosy crime thriller, he said he was '…thinking of writing a book about walking the South West Coast Path.' !!!! Everyone laughed. I screamed!

Oh now THAT is hilarious!!!

😂😂😂

Imagine.... "Every where I went I was confused for a very famous man called Moth who looked nothing like me. In the end, just to oblige, I stole some fudge, dunked my own teabags in hot water, and took a poo on Bude seafront."

Don't worry, I believe their powers of deduction are extremely faulty and given they have been so critical of speculation here, I only see their claim as hypocrisy (and more wrong than Moth looking anything like Simon Armitage, even with a matching neckerchief). That said, I will take the compliment.
