To be pissed off that my DH is not going to McDonalds now and now I have to cook?

DH was going out at 4pm to rake DS12's friend home. He suggested he get McD's on the way back for himself and the kids (he knows I have a salad prepared for myself and that I don't like McDs) I said great, I wont have to cook.
I was in the shower when he left so I rang him to check he knows what DD7 wants from MCDs. He said he doesn't want McDs any more, he's going to go to the new local chippy instead. I said but the kids don't like the chunky chips you get from the chippies and he said well he's not going to two different places.
I said great, I suppose I'll just have to cook them something.
He said he doesn't understand why I'm so bothered, I would have had to cook anyway icfhe hadn't suggested getting something and I said, because I wasn't expecting to, I'd written it off in my mind, I haven't thought of what to cook and it's now 16:20 on a school night.
He thinks I'm just being argumentative and that I should just cook or we shpuld just tell the kids to just eat the damn chips.

Who's right?

You’ve never had pizza for tea because you can’t be arsed to cook? Jesus, I take it you are one of those martyr parents?

They weren't even frozen, they were the nice ones. More expensive and nutritionally better than a McDonalds, and he chopped up some carrot and cucumber sticks to go on the side. So there's no issue here. I am hot and bothered and had a tantrum I now regret 😂

The nice ones are good. I tend to get the margarita and pimp it up. Perfectly acceptable lazy food.

Why could he stop at co-op for pizzas but not McD’s?

Ok so I asked and apparently the logic is that going to two different fast food places is going to mean one of the two different meals will end up cold. Wears he can buy uncooked food from the co-op before going to the chippy and not risk a meal that's gone cold. And he needed to go to the co-op anyway because we needed bread and milk (I didn't tell him we did, btw) and he wanted some cold cans of drink for the fridge.

So that makes sense. I shpuld not have started this thread 😂

He assumed responsibility for feeding the kids.

Supermarkets close at 4pmon a sunday.

Feeding the kids and himself is his problem if he doesn't fancy McDonald's

It's fine not to cook in this weather. I'm definitely sticking to salad for my own supper.

Yes i acknowledged the school night comment many, many posts ago and no, it's not something I've heard before. Shoot me

Kids should eat the chip shop chips. They’re just chips, same as McDs and they are being fussy.

McDonald's French Fries and Chips Shop Chips are absolutely NOT the same.

CandidRobin · 13/07/2025 17:33

Co-op are my favourite supermarket pizzas, I prefer them to M&S. I think Co-op food is actually decent quality and often locally sourced. Think we're all a bit hot and bothered and prone to a rant every so often lol, don't worry OP. Glad it was all easily resolved and everyone us happy.

I am more concerned about the crap you’re eating.

Who cooked them?

She clearly has stated he is cooking them…

LlynTegid · 13/07/2025 17:35

I am glad all is forgiven, even more so that there was one less customer at McDonalds.

You’re managing ok without it.

Crikeyisthatthetime · 13/07/2025 17:42

Ha! Well done that man. I'm contemplating pizza for tea. I'm so hot I'm melting, and that's a more immediate problem than eating some upf once in a blue moon.
On a side note - I'm not sure why freezing a pizza suddenly makes it the food of Satan.

Namechangerage · 13/07/2025 17:45

Idontjetwashthefucker · 13/07/2025 16:27

It's Sunday though, not a school night

A school night means you have school the next day - do kids not go to school on a Monday where you live?? 🙄🤣

Namechangerage · 13/07/2025 17:47

Ok so now can you practice not just assuming you will have to cook OP??? He obviously can manage to get food and cook it so you need to stop being a martyr.

This is just so wrong >

I said great, I suppose I'll just have to cook them something.

The reading comprehension on this thread is wild.

Katherineryan1986 · 13/07/2025 17:50

You’re not being unreasonable, but the kids are unreasonable not to eat chip shop chips, and your husband is unreasonable to not go to 2 places on his way home.

Boysnme · 13/07/2025 17:50

Idontjetwashthefucker · 13/07/2025 16:31

I dont have kids but why is Sunday a school night?

A school night is any night when your kids have school the next day - one where you usually want to be organised and not have a late night as they are up early for school the next day.

PopeJoan2 · 13/07/2025 17:34

I am more concerned about the crap you’re eating.

Crap?
A pizza?
It's dough, tomato sauce, cheese and whatever toppings (usually a mix of veggies and meat).
Why is that worse than a roast dinner/shepherd's pie/lasagna/1001 other meals?
Honestly....some people really are weird about food (and I have borderline ARFID).

Lavatime · 13/07/2025 17:52

He can cook their dinner then.
also my kids would probably never forgive me if I promised a McDonalds and then changed my mind to something they didn't like instead. That's a bit mean!

I was going to say after reading your first post- pretty sure your both suffering with the heat!

In the time it took you to write that, you could have clicked ‘read all’ on OP’s posts and seen it’s been sorted.
