To be mildly embarrassed by my 10-year-old’s summer fashion choices?

My husband's son is 10 and flat out refuses to go barefoot which I can live with at home. The real issue is that he insists on wearing ankle socks with his sandals when we're out. He’s quite tall for his age, and honestly, it looks a bit silly!

😆 my six year old does this and yanks his socks up to his calves!

I share your slight embarrassment but it’s pretty cool that he’s got a strong enough character to dress the way he wants at age ten!

This will be the trait that saves him from following the pack in future years. Let him have his socks.

Tbh OPs partners child is doing what all kids do and following the crowd as this is very much a trend! 😊

Well I’m sure he thinks you look silly and are also incredible embarassing to him so 🤷‍♀️

I got a similar comment deleted upthread. I don’t know why, as what I said was extremely likely to be true. Parents are mostly sources of sartorial embarrassment to their offspring (step or otherwise).

I've always said if you want your kid to stop doing something, start doing it yourself.
