It really helps a discussion if you read what people are saying. I haven't called people racist. It's making a threat to drown people by deflating their boats to act as a deterrent. I'm responding to what people are saying in the thread and which you're pretending not to see. That's why you're being disingenuous as you know perfectly well that threats to endanger life have been made.

I know what they’ve said. I’ve read it multiple times and the poster came back and clarified what they meant. Which is making a threat to do something and not actually doing it.
She, nor I, are advocating for boat loads of people to be drowned or shot at. If that’s the only alternative to stop the boats, actually killing asylum seekers en route to the UK, I would actually prefer we just let them in. NOTHING is worth killing innocent people en masse. Not even in the name of ‘protecting our borders’
But this isn’t the only answer. There is a lot of nuance here that you’ve missed. Personally, I’d rather the UK didn’t actively destabilise these countries in the first place so they had no need to flee. But it’s already happened. So what can be done? Perhaps we could actually talk about that, a way that is humane and doesn’t endanger human life but that also doesn’t allow thousands of undocumented migrants to enter the country.
Or would you prefer to just keep calling us racist and trying to convince yourself we want them dead?

They said this:
If we starting making deterrent threats , such as we will deflate the boat if entering our waters and France did the same : we'd solve the problem pretty damn quickly. Nobody would dare cross, just in case it happened.
Deflating an overcrowded dinghie in the English chanel will kill people. The deterrent is that you'll drown if you enter British water - not that you'll get wet as that's not a threat.
You're being completely disingenuous. You're perfectly aware that similar threats have been made such as using the boats for target practice. In fact a Reform Councillor was recently deposed for language about gun boats and a Reform candidate went the same way for talking about target practice.

That's what you said. No mention of 2 inches of water (impossible to do on the French side as we have no jurisdiction). Our waters are not a foot away from the French coast therefore the water will be significantly deeper than 2 inches.

No. I didn't. I said we should advertise that dinghies will be deflated if attempting to enter British waters illegally. (Their starting point to do so is usually french coast ) I'm sure they won't drown in 2 inches of water will they ? That way it acts as a deterrent if they realise it's futile to try.

The dinghie would sink, people on board would get wet. The poster didn’t specify she wanted them to drown. You’ve made that up. She said when they enter our waters, she didn’t specify how deep the water is. But why don’t you ask her if that’s what she meant?

That isn't what the poster said if you care to read your own thread:

Entering our waters does not mean deflating boats a few feet from shore. Nor would it be an effective deterrent as people would wade to shore. It's nonsensical.

Did you see the footage of the French police deflating a dinghy? They did it in very shallow, waist height water. Nobody was killed. I don’t think anyone is advocating for deflating them when they’re right in the middle of the channel.

But nobody and I mean nobody (except actual racists/bigots) mind people such as this seeking asylum. In fact , for one, actively welcome it. There's always this "clever" sarcastic gotcha of "oh I get you, you don't mean those ones" well no, no I don't. We mean the droves of young fit males arriving on boats, ripping up their documents. Why can't people understand that ?
It's not about racism or lack of empathy or right wing extremism. It's about taking a logical, common sense approach to people with little to offer abusing and draining our already struggling systems. It's so open to abuse, and it's being abused spectacularly.
If we starting making deterrent threats , such as we will deflate the boat if entering our waters and France did the same : we'd solve the problem pretty damn quickly. Nobody would dare cross, just in case it happened.

That the movement of people is global.
that the U.K. goes to other countries and tells them that the U.K. is a great place etc
So of course that message spreads.
I work with asylum seekers. And many are educated and qualified. The social worker who was tortured. The doctor who was a political prisoner. They co e here and they are held in limbo. On purpose. The process is slow on purpose. The doctor eventually got her asylum approved and is now in the process of meeting requirements to practice here.
These people want to contribute. They want to work.

Well how do we know for a start? They rip up their passports..
But facetiousness aside, what you are saying is that someone from say Iraq wants to leave there to.earn more money. Probably a young man. So they travel illegally into the EU and then travel illegally through the EU,.entering and exiting various safe countries. All the while not claiming asylum. And then they pay the people smugglers to illegally cross the Channel to illegally enter the UK. There's no urgency. They've been travelling across Europe and no one is chasing them. So they are not in fear for their life. They then get told by some human rights lawyer in the UK that they have to pretend to be gay or a Christian that is in danger of persecution. Because then they are no longer illegals but "asylum seekers". So they can stay for processing. At tax payers expense. And we didn't invite them. And they have no fear of persecution as they travelled across Europe going through lots of countries with less generous benefits systems than ours.

You've hit the nail on the head. I don't wish to reveal how. But I do know a lot of immigrants (legal, professional jobs) and it's heartbreaking to see their anger and frustration at being lumped in one big vomitus with the "boat people". It's. Bloody ignorant too. Show me a Dr/dentist/nurse/lawyer/teacher/IT expert/ etc that's coming off those boats? No.thought not. Just freeloaders and drug dealers. All whilst the "good" "educated" ones are waving their placards at Dover, just so they don't look "racist" like us bigots 🙄. meanwhile, the rest of us are moaning In the staff room with our fellow hard working black African, brown Muslim, white eastern European professional colleagues. Believe me, we all think the same.

Its the tragedy of it that such anti-immigration rhetoric becomes widespread from people who aren't even anti-immigration. The story of the Kosovan and the Albanian and the anger of immigrants who give so much to the country, sums it up because they end up feeling lumped in with the freeloading chancers and criminals who our pathetic politicians and judiciary give everything to on a silver platter. One thing Brits do value is fairness.
The mood of the country is on a knife edge because of our gutless and incompetent governments and civil service.

Way too much common sense. The lefties prefer it if they can paint us all as brown/black hating monsters with an IQ of 10 and wearing 'this is England ' t shirts (pint of lager, gold hoop earring, shaved head and local football team tattoo, optional) if you give your opinion with an ounce of rationality, they don't like it.
I'd love them to speak to the legal black, brown, Muslim immigrants (who most of us are friends, neighbours and work colleagues with) and argue the toss with their equal disgust over illegal economic migrants. It'd confuse the hell out of then. Doesn't fit their narrative.

People are fine with immigration, in broadly sustainable numbers, when people come here and integrate and share our values.
Most of the boat migrants don't. They're literally breaking into the country for a start.

Meanwhile thoroughly excellent, English-speaking, educated immigrants with connections to this country (historical and familial), from countries that share our general values and approach to religion, society and law, are either leaving or not applying anymore- yay?
