Its the tragedy of it that such anti-immigration rhetoric becomes widespread from people who aren't even anti-immigration. Afghanistan is a dangerous country run by the Taliban. It's highly likely that someone from there is seeking refuge. You can't send someone back to a country where they could be in danger which is why the Rwanda scheme failed.

Voluntary movement to an EU country eg ROI, cost effective for us. Perhaps the EU would have helped them out if too overwhelmed.
