I ate a tinned pie and loved every minute of it

Earlier today I did a bad thing.

I usually eat very sensibly, limit processed food, healthy, balanced. But I’ve had a bad week. And I saw it - a Fray Bentos tinned pie.

My gran used to give us them as kids and I was overcome with a wave of nostalgia.

I bought it. I cooked it. I ate it.

And yes, I enjoyed it.

I might have a Pot Noodle next week.

With tinned Ambrosia custard?

Ambrosia custard with tinned peaches is my “recovering from being ill and fancy a little something light but not hard to chew or swallow with a sore throat still” meal. It really hits the spot after a yukky cold.

Cor, tinned peaches. I might go for tinned mandarins though

Tinned peaches with vanilla ice cream. Food of the gods.

I usually keep a couple of those in for the occasional time when I really just CBA to cook. One each for me and dh, with frozen peas.

Which reminds me, none in the cupboard at the moment….

Brains faggots are disgusting these days. Used to be nice but now they're like mousse and all mushy. I get them from the butcher these days and they're really good, perfect on a chilly evening.

I tried a Vesta paella, for nostalgia, a while back and was bitterly disappointed.

A Vesta paella was my treat for myself as a student, when marginally less skint than usual. This was a very very long time ago though.
