Favourite lazy arse dinners

As per title. Tonight I have a plate of pasta (fusilli) with butter melted through and cheddar cheese on top. Teaspoon of lazy garlic mixed through with the butter. When I’m being less disgusting I melt butter and a little garlic into the fusilli, add tuna or chicken and basil, and squeeze a lemon over. But the ultimate lazy dinner is literally a heap of pasta covered in cheese.

That would be quite a complicated dinner for me to make.

Can't beat a jacket potato with cheese and Branston pickle!

Faceonthewrongfoot · 07/07/2025 19:02

Spaghetti, ketchup and cheese. If I can be arsed I might fry some chopped up bacon and stir that in. Maybe some peas.

PeanutsLunadexter · 07/07/2025 19:05

Cheese omelette with nandos garlic sauce on the side

These are great - I'm stealing some of them. I often wfh right up to or beyond dinnertime and am just too hungry/tired/cranky to faff about with cooking, so I have:

Microwave-baked potato (ca 7 mins) with Heinz beans.

Tinned fish mixed with mayo, lemon juice and spring onions, on crackers (can get a bit messy). Spring onions are vegetables, right?

Minute udon with random frozen veg and cold raw tofu dumped in. If a few minutes sat in boiling water doesn't cook the veg, stick in microwave. Douse with soy sauce and sriracha.

Or, something a friend introduced me to years ago: crackers (rice cakes are ideal) or bread with marmite, hummus and walnuts. Try it, it's much better than it sounds.

I love it when I don’t have to make dinner for anyone but myself. Heinz tomato soup with marmite toast/ crumpets, or a grilled cheese sandwich if I can be bothered.
Or ramen noodles with pre cooked chicken and a poached egg dropped in

Completelydonechick · 07/07/2025 19:25

Fridge picnic!!! Whatever is in there that can be instantly consumed is fair game! And as a bonus, you clear the fridge for a deep clean!!!!!!

Xmasxrackers · 07/07/2025 19:26

Air fry fish finger sandwich

Big bowl of cereal

microwave scrambled egg on toast

Veggie sausages fried up with onion, frozen peppers, chilli and cumin loaded into a pitta.

Scrambled eggs on toast

Bake beans and cheese on toast.

I've just remembered my favourite snack when I worked in a bakery many years ago. Slice of bread just cooled from the oven, buttered, folded over, warm sausage roll in the middle....I'm surprised I've made it to old age.

Wooky073 · 07/07/2025 19:40

Carton of chicken ramen broth with noodles (instant noodles for extra speed)
Can add frozen veg eg sweetcorn as preferred
Part baked baghettes with sausages or meatballs (I precook and freeze) with sauce (pre-done) or relish.
Cheese and tomato on toast (like a pizza)

Chicken & Mushroom PN with a white bread cheese sandwich cut into strips to dunk in the sauce 😋

Sometimes UPFs are worth it.

I love this! The cheese starts to melt too…

also nice in tomato soup

ElizaJ74 · 07/07/2025 20:05

You beat me! Yes a massive bowl of Frosties. Like a salad bowl size.

My teens put a whole box of cereal in a mixing bowl & have a midnight snack, usually use all the remaining milk too 🙈

I’m having one of those days so it’s crisp sandwich for me tonight.

But which flavour? I say the only possible flavour of crisps for a crisp sandwich is cheese and onion. And the bread has to be thick white warburtons, buttered.

I agree with the bread, but also need a good, salted butter. As for crisps, my current favourite is Seabrook's ready salted - but I am happy to have whatever is available at the time in moments of need 😂

You know, sans the sausage roll, a few big hunks of sourdough with loads of butter on is dinner enough for me too. If I can be bothered to heat up a tin of Heinz tomato soup, that’s extra level.

Tonight I cooked Asda three chilli sausages and fried a load of red onions, we had them in soft buttered white rolls with ketchup. Heaven!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/07/2025 20:13

Just for me? Cheese on toast.

For the fam? My roasting tin chow mein...

Chopped meat into a large roasting tin. Mix with a supermarket sachet of stir-fry sauce. Add a ¼ cup or so of boiling water from the kettle and cook at 180ºc for 10-15 minutes depending on the type of meat. Stir through a pack of prepared stir-fry vegetables and a pack of so-called 'fresh' noodles. Add a splash more water and a good shaking of soy sauce. Another 10 minutes in the oven sprinkle with a little toasted sesame oil and serve straight from the tin.

M&S Saag Aloo with a wholemeal pitta. Yum

Stressedoutmama123 · 07/07/2025 20:37

I use to love a super noodle on toast in my younger years, something about carbs and carbs?!

Idontcareboutthestateofmyhair · 07/07/2025 21:07

Lots of these still sound like normal mid week cooking! Lazy lazy for me is cereal, usually 2 bowls of rice Krispies or four weetabix. Crackers n cheese n chutney. Bagged lettuce, cherry tomatoes, already cooked chicken, Heinz saucy sauce. Toast n tuna. Lazy is spaghetti with tinned toms, capers, black olives, basil, parmesan. Chicken and sweetcorn mayo toastie. Cheese n tomato omelette.
