Favourite lazy arse dinners

As per title. Tonight I have a plate of pasta (fusilli) with butter melted through and cheddar cheese on top. Teaspoon of lazy garlic mixed through with the butter. When I’m being less disgusting I melt butter and a little garlic into the fusilli, add tuna or chicken and basil, and squeeze a lemon over. But the ultimate lazy dinner is literally a heap of pasta covered in cheese.

What are your ultimate lazy arse dinners?

if you’re feeling spicy, go for brown sauce. Soohisticated? Go for mayo 😋

I'd really rather not but appreciate your sense of humour 🤣🤣🤢

Pasta with pesto stirred in
Also when I'm absolutely broke and its just me and the kids I do basic sausage pasta..its a couple of tins tomatoes, a whole onion top and tailed and a nob of butter simmered for about 2 hours. When the onions soft blend it all, meanwhile bungalow sausages in the oven, when theyre cooked cut them into chunks, shove it in the sauce and have with pasta. I like it cos you use hardly any ingredients and you can leave the sauce for hours simmering on low while you watch tv

Can I ask why you have to simmer it for 2hrs?? That sauce would be fine after 15mins.

Tinned tomatoes I find take a long time to cook down into something not acidic and raw tasting. I also cook tomato sauces for a long time.

Add a half teaspoon spoon of bicarb of soda to the tomatoes and a teaspoon of dark brown sugar.
Balances the acidity of tomatoes beautifully.

Yesterday I had Smoked mackrel mashed with Greek yoghurt and lemon juice on rice cakes. Was lovely.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 07/07/2025 14:16

After reading Butter, plain boiled jasmine rice with soy sauce and butter. Surprisingly delicious.
if there’s a bit of cooking involved, dh’s favourite is bacon, new potatoes and peas with mint jelly and a fuckton of butter. But I guess every meal is a lazy one for him as he never fucking cooks.

I saw it online once, it makes the onion go soft and makes the sauce taste more like a sauce rather than just tomatoes, like a poster said before me its less acidic

I just made the opposite of a lazy dinner, gourmet burgers. I hate making them with a passion as theyre such a faff (i use 2 air fryers and the oven!) I love a good old lazy dinner!

FurForksSake · 07/07/2025 17:27

Ainsley couscous with pre-cubed feta stirred in.

I went through a phase of exactly this with lemon on top and sickened myself of it. I think enough time has passed that I’m ready to go again!

I learnt this from another thread on Mumsnet!

Block of feta and a tub in cherry tomatoes drizzled with olive oil in the oven for 20 minutes

Cook pasta

Mix the lot together and stir some fresh rocket through to serve

I have to try this!

@Spudthespanner my all time favourite is spaghetti with melted butter stirred through and grated cheese on top, with lots of black pepper.

Watching this this thread for ideas Grin

Cheese on toast with a fresh juicy tomato sliced on top, then an ice cream 😋

@Spudthespanner I take your plate of cheesy pasta and I raise you the same dish but with a spoonful of marmite stirred in.👌👌(and some frozen peas if I'm feeling energetic)

Yes! DH, who loathes Marmite, calls this "psychopaths' supper". Nom

They're AWFUL and I love them. The ham cheese and leek one is like crack cocaine. I put extra parmesan on because I'm a monster

Never seen this range! Are they big enough for a whole meal, sound perfect?!

rainbowunicorn22 · 07/07/2025 18:17

either cereal quick sarnie of peanut butter and jam or onion rings and Quorn sausages

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 07/07/2025 18:18

Pasta, throw in some defrosted frozen peas just before it's ready, then stir in some protein such as prawns or bits of ham. DH likes to top with ketchup.

angela1952 · 07/07/2025 18:19

Air fried scampi, or air fried XL battered fish fillet, no chips, just mayo and lemon.

Just a tub of icecream maybe? Tomato sounds a bit healthy.

Belladog1 · 07/07/2025 18:21

Tin of ravioli and a few slices of buttered bread.

Or I'll open bagged salad, precooked chicken from Tesco, sprinkle of grated cheese and salad cream. 2 slices of garlic bread done in the airfryer in 4 mins.

Packet of walkers plain crisps and a glass of chilled Chenin blanc.

This is my dream diet.... spenny wine, cheap crisps.

Happyonfriday · 07/07/2025 18:33

Pasta and cheese (sometimes with salad cream or mayo) I do chuck in a stock cube sometimes too 🙈

Crisp sandwich.

Had DS reject pasta last night with butter, salt, pepper.

A good crisp sandwich is food of the gods. I allow myself a maximum of one a week, usually when I'm having a bit of a stressful work day.

GertieLawrence · 07/07/2025 18:41

I just had hot boiled new potatoes with Greek yoghurt, chopped spring onion and a few cubes of feta with black pepper. Told myself it was potato salad, somewhere.

I’m having one of those days so it’s crisp sandwich for me tonight.

But which flavour? I say the only possible flavour of crisps for a crisp sandwich is cheese and onion. And the bread has to be thick white warburtons, buttered.
