Michael Jackson was a paedophile. Why does the local school choose one of his songs for the kids to perform to?

I also have a friend whose little boy has learnt all his moves and she puts MJ on for him to dance to.

I don’t understand, hearing his music makes me feel sick.

Using drugs is really not comparable ffs

Ok, clearly children being trafficked, sexually assaulted and murdered (all of which happens as a direct result of production and dealing of illegal drugs) doesn’t bother you.

thanks for clarifying.

Boomer55 · 05/07/2025 09:08

A grown man grooming small boys with a playground and then taking them into his bed is a paedophile 🤷‍♀️

Grim.

The fact he didn’t get convicted had more to do with race obsessed juries than anything else.

LBFseBrom · 05/07/2025 09:07

We don't know he was a paedophile.

He had books and magazines of naked boys in his room. He slept with children in his bed.

I honestly cringed watching the kids on stage dancing around to a paedophiles songs. Wouldn’t have let them dance to Lost Prophets or Gary Glitter.

not convicted? Fuck off
95% of rapists don’t get convicted either

This is what I mean. Lost prophets is a band that is NEVER played anywhere now. You'd never go to a rock bar and hear a LP song ever again. And they were huge back in the 00s scene

LlynTegid · 05/07/2025 09:09

You have a valid point OP. Learning a dance to a song does require acceptance of the artist in a way that listening to the song on radio does not.

Internaut · 05/07/2025 09:10

P0d · 05/07/2025 08:39

But that child will grow up and realise mummy was making him dance to paedo songs

Taking the songs on their own, what exactly is it about them that makes them paedophile?

Ponoka7 · 05/07/2025 09:10

No need, the glitter band own it. Which is why it's still in the film 'four Christmases ' and the Joker.
OP the list is endless, Bowie, the Stones, the Who, then there's the art work and statues. Then there's our royals, which if we can ignore the hypocrisy of them, we can ignore anything.

I sold my MJ albums and never listen to him now. And I LOVED his music. It was watching that documentary that did it for me.

I would probably not be irate about it, but I think you have a point!

Interesting though that you sold your albums. Why not destroy them if you felt so strongly that there was an ethical reason not to listen?

P0d · 05/07/2025 08:39

Well he slept in bed with little boys. I doubt if any of your adult male friends did this that you would say it was fine.

I trust my male friends

MJ was never convicted of a crime involving children in a Court. This is why his music is still played on the radio/TV/online. It doesn't matter that there were glaring red flags, or suspicion, he still wasn't convicted. Whereas 70's artist Gary Glitter has been convicted and been in prison (currently still is, I believe) and therefore his music is no longer played on the radio/TV.

Neither was Jimmy Saville but I think we can all agree he was a prolific abuser of children and vulnerable adults.

Don’t be silly, she objects to listening to songs by a paedo but not to making some cash from them!

Hairyfairy01 · 05/07/2025 09:11

Totally agree with you OP. I also turn off the radio if one of his songs come on and was horrified that my daughters dance show performed one of his songs, (thankfully not my daughters class).

MinnieCauldwell · 05/07/2025 09:11

The artist Eric Gill still has his work exhibited at the BBC, he had sex with his sister, daughters and family dog.
Oscar Wild had sex with young teenage boys
Picasso was a domestic abuser as was John Lennon

Abusers sadly are just everywhere,

@Ponoka7 What have the Who done?

Quite a powerful and horrific documentary. I then watched another documentary from an independant journalist who wanted to investigate all claims through evidence and facts. A lot of the Neverland story was debunked and it was shocking.

He was never convicted of anything however we feel about it so we can’t prevent his music being played without that (in my humble opinion). R Kelly on the other hand? Completely different story.

What was the other documentary called? Xx

ALPS100 · 05/07/2025 09:14

YANBU

I feel the same about Jerry Lee Lewis - married his 13 year old cousin. Sick.

Hiding in plain sight

chachahide · 05/07/2025 09:14

I don’t like his music particularly but he was never actually convicted was he?

He was definitely a strange chap, but was anything ever actually proven?

x2boys · 05/07/2025 09:14

P0d · 05/07/2025 08:57

But nobody doubts that he slept in bed with young boys. If your anyone else did that would you think it was innocent?
I find it so weird that people can’t see it.
why are Saville and Glitter demonised but MJ is still some God. He wasn’t convicted because he was one of the richest and most famous people alive.

Quite if Kev down the road had sleepovers euth young boys and called it beautiful and natural i imagine the reaction would be very different.

StMarie4me · 05/07/2025 09:15

Never proven. Many, including Macauley Kulkin, have refuted the claims.
Personally I think he was a childlike asexual. His childhood was decimated by his parents. He did t have one. They made money from him and his siblings.
The parents of the children who used to go to Neverland wanted to gain from the situation. He just wanted friends.
As I say, never proven. And he was an incredible musician.

They contain a hidden wavelength which targets and brainwashes children. Every “OWWW” and “HEE-HEEE” is an activation signal.

VintageKefir · 05/07/2025 09:16

I think Savill case is bit different. Tbh I am surprised BBC is still standing... State and public funded peado fun is quite something...

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 05/07/2025 09:16

@PansyPotter84 the allegations didn't stand up to scrutiny?! Have you watched those documentaries where those poor men bare their souls about the abuse that went on in Michael Jackson's bed?

I was a mega-fan - literally worshipped Michael Jackson. No-one with a degree of intelligence and common sense can watch the Finding Neverland stuff and walk away with anything but a complete conviction that the man was a paedophile.

I agree with the OP that it's not appropriate for a school to use his music in a performance. I personally can't derive any pleasure from listening to him any more but I get that some people can separate the art from the artist.

NoNameMum · 05/07/2025 09:20

I mean where do we draw the line? It’s an established fact that Elvis dated Priscilla when she was 14 and he was 24.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 05/07/2025 09:20

Again though, where do you draw the line? Just musicians? Or artists? Or authors? Or actors? How far back do we go? I'm not entirely sure of the morality of a lot of the Tudors, do we rip their portraits off the walls and burn them? Or does 'it happened a long time ago' somehow mean that it doesn't count?

It's ridiculous. There is almost nobody in the public eye who hasn't done at least one questionable thing in their entire past. I think a degree of separation is necessary, otherwise we are left with nothing and no history either.
