To be happy that Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana are founding a new party.

We need someone with backbone to put forward an alternative political viewpoint.

He’s Terrorist supporting scum and so is she.

They will be courting extreme left wing and the Muslim vote.

And you won’t have an NHS as Farage will sell it to the Americans and Reform also don’t believe in social security so that will end. Financially my family are better off under the Conservatives and probably Reform but the amount of people that will suffer in this country as a consequence should Reform get in power. You think foodbanks are bad now it’s going to get so much worse.

50 families own the half the wealth in the U.K that should worry you, that gap is going to get bigger under Reform.

and out of interest how has dear old Nigel helped his constituents out and bettered their lives considering he’s too busy with his second job to even turn up for his constituents!

People will start to work harder when they get hungry enough. Win win

annzen · 04/07/2025 11:04

Until FPTP is ditched it will forever be Red or Blue in charge. That is the reality, so splinter group parties will never see a sniff of power on their own.

I can see a Reform/Con coalition happening if it means power for them.

Satire is not dead I see.

Ohthatsabitshit · 04/07/2025 11:12

I think people underestimate just how popular Jeremy’s ideas were. The “oh Jeremy Corbyn” chants and feelings of hope and determination to improve things are I think very attractive in the depressing political landscape we have now.

Excellent post, @Agrumpyknitter. Scary how easily fooled people are by Reform. They are wolves in sheep clothing, through the mechanism of populism. People would really suffer under their rule, and especially those without much.

God this thread is hilarious.

Of course ordinary people didn't suffer at all in Soviet Russia or Communist China!

Oh, silly me I keep forgetting, that's because they didn't do communism properly! 🤦‍♀️

Zov · 04/07/2025 11:38

Well I certainly won't be voting for them! (Jeremy and Zarah.) And as has been said, it will split the vote and REFORM will get in! 😱

I'm not going to bash people who vote for Reform, as people are entitled to their opinions and views, and can vote for whoever they wish ... But I would never vote for them, and have no desire to see them in power!

I don't think this new party will take off to be honest. We'll see I guess.......

PawBroon86 · 04/07/2025 11:38

I'm sure it's been said already but I'm unsure how splitting the left/center left vote even more is going to help things.

It’s great news. It means that what little hope Labour had has now been officially extinguished. Reform and Conservatives will now be clear front 2 parties by an absolute country mile at the next GE.

Great - the process of wrecking public services and diverting more public money to their rich mates can continue...

The left/centre vote is gradually being alienated by Labour's own behaviour. I am left wing and have been prevaricating about voting Labour for well over a decade. Finally gave up caring before the last election.

None of that to say I'd automatically vote for a new left-wing party but it's naive to worry about this new party being the tipping point when there is at least a decade of actual Labour policy that has been causing the problem.

BreadInCaptivity · 04/07/2025 11:45

Cososom · 03/07/2025 22:36

And exactly the same can be said about Farage and Tice, so...

And would agree with that sentiment. Not being a fan of this new “party” doesn’t make me a Reform supporter.

SayLaveee · 04/07/2025 12:08

If we had a GE tonorrow, this would be the first time in my life that I would just spoil my vote.

I think maybe the (naive) thinking might be that 'traditional' labour voters who disagree with the direction of the current labour government will be able to vote for a party that aligns with their traditional beliefs. In practice I don't think it will work and should they have any success at all, it won't be enough to win anything, but might be enough to give Reform the chance of a win.

BareGrylls · 04/07/2025 12:10

SayLaveee · 04/07/2025 07:48

I hold corbyn responsible for brexit.

And i won't vote for a party that makes a country half way around the world its priority.

At thus rate I will be spoiling my vote at the next GE.

How hard is it to have a party that protects the most vulnerable in our society and fixes our housing and NHS problems through traditional left policies, while refusing identity politics and taking a tough stand on immigration?

Agreed. I had high hopes for all those things, though I haven't given up hope that Labour can still pull some of it off.
A government needs to have a policy on overseas matters but individual MPs who's entire focus is not their own constituency nor even their own country are not doing the job they are elected for.

Broadly I agree with that, but I think unless they kill puppies on live tv, Reform are in with a good chance next election regardless. I hate that we've come to this but we've had poor government and poor opposition for years now - with no real engagement with issues, only media-compliant soundbites - and it's created the space for a shit party of reactionary disruptors to capitalise on that. Reform has no chops at all, they will be literally unable to govern because they don't know how, but honestly I don't think Jeremy Corbyn is going to garner quite enough support to allow Labour in its current form to do anything about that. They are toast.

I think the scariest thing about this is that killing puppies wouldn't make a jot of difference to their success. Genuinely. Someone would surmise that the puppies were taking their jobs and therefore a necessary sacrifice anyway.

You could well be right 😩

(Realised there's an important bad wording: where I say "to allow Labour" I meant "to prevent Labour... from doing", sorry I am a pedant.)

Mumble12 · 04/07/2025 12:29

I'm genuinely worried about 2029. I don't know how I could live happily in a country governed by Reform. I'd be off at the first opportunity if my circumstances allowed but unfortunately they don't.

Shame young people don’t vote

How many followers does Sarah have with young people? Nigel has over a million of 16-17 year olds on Tiktok.

Minerrobin · 04/07/2025 12:47

Pleased they have left Labour Party. I’m in an old labour town and people are going to vote Reform. They already run the local council.

caringcarer · 04/07/2025 12:48

WorriedMutha · 04/07/2025 09:19

You can only vote for Corbyn or Sultana if you actually live in their constituency. Where is this 10% of votes coming from? Unless they get a massive funding operation underway to launch candidates nationally, they are toast. Corbyn stacked up votes in metropolitan areas in 2019 and had no national reach.
They are a lame duck and that's why the announcement is half way down the page on mainstream media sites. They are an embarrassment. Still I will look forward to the exodus of the embittered lefties from my local Labour CLP.

More MP's will follow them. There won't just b the 2 of them. Possibly Diane Abbott, John McDonnell maybe Long Bailey.

caringcarer · 04/07/2025 12:50

Mumble12 · 04/07/2025 09:57

I don't know a single Gen-Z individual that supports Nigel Farage.

I also follow him on social media, but wouldn't vote for his party if I was on fire and they were holding a bucket of water.

I know several. At the Reform meetings quite a few young males go and they are very vocal too.

Caliberate · 04/07/2025 12:52

I voted YABU but actually it is a good thing because it'll absolutely f**k Labour, splitting their vote which means neither of them get in. Result!!!!

Slightly tongue in cheek because I think they're all hopeless, I just have a particular loathing for Labour and also for Corbyn.

All the ageing loons then. How incredibly appealing that will be. I give this six months before it’s a distant memory.
