Well, she's only human and she has mass fucked up. I'd probably cry too, if I had made such a colossal mess of my job.

How lovely and sympathetic.

Abhannmor · 02/07/2025 13:26

You are. He was elected with a huge majority one year ago. Please come back with an intelligent question.

And he’s unravelling.

FeistyCat · 02/07/2025 13:28

DorothyandtheWizard · 02/07/2025 13:03

You were watching a different PMQs to me.

I watched it all apart from the first 5 minutes and didn't see any tears.

She wasn't crying.

She looks like she's not slept for days but neither has much of the SE because of the heat.

Kemi said she looked 'miserable' at which point she was grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Edited

The media and news are all commenting on her tears. They're not making it up. Clearly you watched a different PMQs to everyone else, including the media.

The previous poster said to take it from higher tax payers, they didn’t specify take it from pensioners who are also higher tax payers.

Edited

Isn’t that implicit in the WFA (winter fuel allowance), I thought it was a benefit that only pensioners get.

Soulfulunfurling · 02/07/2025 13:26

It just compounds the sentiment that they just aren’t up to the job. Weak and out of their depth. I don’t know how they can climb out of this one. Their creditability is in pieces.

Time to apply to be an mp then. What is it you do for a job?

Where was Kendall today ? Maybe she was on the front bench, I didn't see her though.

Nowhere to be seen. Which is what I don’t get. Why does she get to sit it out, but Rachel Reeves has to sit there looking so utterly distraught?

2dogsandabudgie · 02/07/2025 13:30

Clearinguptheclutter · 02/07/2025 13:22

Guardian says
A spokesperson for Reeves said: “It’s a personal matter, which – as you would expect – we are not going to get into. The chancellor will be working out of Downing Street this afternoon.”

Well if she was crying for personal reasons and nothing to do with the PIP fiasco then she should not have been there, knowing that it would be headline news if she was visibly upset.

It just gets worse all the time.

GoodbyeRosie · 02/07/2025 13:30

Absolutely disgusting comments in this thread.

Just be because you don't like her politics.

A woman having a breakdown, and you lot are out for blood.

Whatever happened to 'be kind' ? . Nah, fuck that let's stick the boot in.

Kreepture · 02/07/2025 13:30

I don't give a fuck that a politician is crying

They aren't Labour, Labour doesn't try and take from the elderly, poor, sick, and vulnerable.

I'm disabled, my son is disabled, their policies would have dropped my entire household into poverty. I'm a Carer, i get shit benefits, and i CANT work because i'm a carer, but they want to take away my Pip that supports my costs of being disabled while i'm also working to care for my disabled kid?

She can get fucked.

Whoever came up with these policies and thought they'd get away with it are touched in the head. Cunts, all of them.

MrsKeats · 02/07/2025 13:30

AquaBreeze · 02/07/2025 13:27

Completely agree. Reform are absolutely clueless. Simplistic solutions to deeply complex issues and problems. A total waste of time.

That said, they’re still going to clean up at the next election.

They can't run a council there is a long way to go yet

pharmer · 02/07/2025 13:31

She doesn't do any favours for professional women, or any women does she?
The number of threads we have on here about women dissolving onto tears in a professional setting or unwarranted circumstances is concerning. No wonder so many men see women as inferior and pathetic

FullOfLemons · 02/07/2025 13:31

Her tears are tears of pity … for us mainly, for being too stupid to realise what a genius she is.

What fools are we.

Soulfulunfurling · 02/07/2025 13:31

The issue is that one of the key qualities of her role is a steady hand and a rock solid bullet proof demeanour with your focus trained on your job in hand. How comfortable would you be to have a heart surgeon or a Judge sobbing, some jobs require complete composure, hers more than most. Given 70 million depend on her ability and capacity.

It is astonishing.

REDB99 · 02/07/2025 13:25

Maybe as many who killed themselves when the Tories brought in the bedroom tax? The fact is that difficult financial decisions have to be made by every government. Every Government has had policies that are not popular and upset people. This is no different.

I also would have no sympathy if a tory Chancellor cried. I will never feel sorry for anyone who goes after the most vulnerable people in society. The cost of these things are a tiny percentage of government spending but has a significant impact on people's lives.

alexalisten · 02/07/2025 13:19

Did anyone see starmer nearly fall over coming out of No 10 🤣🤣🤣

I dare say he would have got some new freebie glasses if he face planted and broke them.

NotTerfNorCis · 02/07/2025 13:32

Poor woman. The stress got to her. No one would cry in public unless they absolutely couldn't help it.

Yet we don’t feel the same at the number of high profile men who sexually assault women? Have violent outbursts?
Is that because we rebranded anger as not an emotion?

dottiedodah · 02/07/2025 13:32

I read in the DM (sorry!) that she spent all last Thursday in tears .Also apparently when they were walking with the party .No one would walk with her, except her Sister who is also an MP I believe.I voted for Labour, and am grateful that they are trying to keep the NHS going. However RR is in way above her head ,and it is alleged she was economical with the truth re her qualifications get the job. She seems to be the party scapegoat ATM .It's not nice to see someone so upset .She did rather swiftly dispense with the WFA and that has made her unpopular .She is probably worried about her job!

ThisWayLiesMadness · 02/07/2025 13:32

If she is having some kind of crisis or breakdown she should NOT have been there, on tv too

And he’s unravelling.

No, he's not.

Honestly the lack of intelligence and humanity on this thread is outstanding. Also ignorance towards politics and policies. No wonder the country is in a mess.

RR is more qualified than any previous chancellors with the exception of Sunak. Whether you agree with her is different, but she's certainly not inept, just making unpopular decisions which are needed as the country is broke.

If only running a county is as simple as MN seem to think it is from their comfy living rooms.

Practice hasn't helped so far!!

thinking about other things hasn't helped..

pressing my tongue to the roof of my mouth hasn't helped....

you just have to admit it and own that you're a cryer. It is just a fact of life. Sorry (and it makes me want to hug most people, so I'm surprised by my reaction to Reeves)

FWIW if i see that at work (and it's not me) i am likely to ask for a 10 minute break, offer tea tissues and sympathy with a bit of a pep talk.

I am not, as such, worried about having humans in the HoC - i welcome it. But i do think there are better ways to approach tackling the welfare bill in particular, and the budget deficit in general. When so many of your own MPs vote against you (and to be sure some of that is tactical politiking rather than any real concern for welfare recipients) - you have very big problems that need to be dealt with.

And that would, for me as party leader, mean a very much curtailed summer recess for my people, and workshops on how to fix a) the country and b) perception of the government.

Well if she has a breakdown becomes mentally unwell and loses her job she might realise the reality of what she was doing to some of the most vulnerable people in society

If you can save 20k a year, you're not a sensible saver.

You're rich.

Not really, if you've paid off your mortgage and decide to transfer that monthly amount into savings to bolster your retirement plans, that doesn't make you rich -- or not until you've been doing it for 20 years.

Reported. Obviously. As if private school pupils are a major priority for the government.

You reported because someone said something you disagree with.

🙄🙄🙄.

The poster hasn't broken any guidelines.
