I bet Annelise Dodds is glad she was sacked as Shadow Chancellor now. She once had Keir's full backing, too...

That’s precisely the attitude that has meant people are struggling to find sympathy. I totally understand that people have different beliefs, and I understand why some might not agree with private education. However, whatever your political views are, relishing in happy children being disrupted is really quite unpleasant. It’s this smug, spiteful attitude that many of us find hard to relate to.

Why should I care that privileged children might need to move to state when many children are going hungry or have no stable home? Sorry if my sympathy is limited.

AmateurDad · 02/07/2025 13:38

Why do you call him "Two Tier"?

Two tier Kier rhymes so people think it’s hilarious.

Meant to be a nod to the fact that some people think if you are white (Lucy Connolly) you are treated more harshly by the criminal justice system and the non whites (grooming gangs) get away with anything.

Though how Kier is responsible for the courts decisions is anyone’s guess! 🤷‍♀️

Agreed.

It is reported it is down to a personal matter

So maybe a bereavement or something?

She was met outside by her sister- so maybe

Bozo and Trump have had a terrible effect on politics. Its OK for them to make promises they can't keep, their fans will accept it as part of their 'charm'. Not ok for your bog standard politician, who will be made to eat his or her words as soon as an opportunity arises.

I agree.

Trouble with any public service office or role is that ‘you can't please everyone, all of the time’ - and especially when the media and public continue to destroy people.

Who would want any of these roles?

We need a huge shift in this country, less media bias, more understanding, more community. Look after each other.

More like a ‘personnel matter’…..

Itallcomesdowntothis · 02/07/2025 13:53

So it’s being reported that her crying was due to a personal nature.

I sincerely hope that all of those who didn’t know the story and went for jugular take a step back if it was something so upsetting and serious that she cried in front of all of her colleagues and effectively on television.

I am no fan at all of the woman, but perhaps her tenacity at going into work when something clearly very upsetting happened is something to talk about.

I also don’t ever think it’s okay to judge someone who is vetting at work because she is a woman.

TwoFeralKids · 02/07/2025 13:43

Aww diddums to the private schools closing. We don't want to mix with the plebs do we?

how will those Oxbridge places get filled! The children will be forced to go to Russell group Universities.

littleblueenvelope · 02/07/2025 13:49

Why is someone crying shown to be out of her depth? She might be pre menstrual/going through menopause! Fuck, she looked exhausted! She has kids and a family! Crying isn’t a bad thing! She’s probably like, fuck this shit I’m damned if I do and I’m damned if I don’t! Which is 100% true! She could do everything the right-wing press wanted and the left would want a pound of flesh and Vica versa! Wish Farage got some of this outrage and negative press attention!

I agree. She must be knackered. I am not a labour supporter before anyone says anything.

cigarsmokingwoman · 02/07/2025 13:53

Whilst I can emphasise with crying under pressure, I don't sympathise with her.
I'm being made redundant, like many others, as my employer can't afford the increased NI payments. I was also at risk of losing my disability benefits not to mention eldery people afraid about their fuel allowances. Now I hear savings will be at risk too, the savings I may need to tide me through redundancy.

lilproblem · 02/07/2025 13:53

My apologies I’ve now seen sky and the dreaded DM saying it. I’m not a fan of her at all but poor woman.

Of course she is saying personal reasons she's not going to say she cant cope with her job is she

mumda · 02/07/2025 13:54

I've just seen a Manchester Evening News image of her - tbh I assumed it was a spammy AI post faked.
But no, apparently not.

TBF It looks like someone's died and she's been forced to sit there.

Gilts market now predicting her resignation. The markets are now turning against her. Let’s hope she makes it quick before she wrecks the country on the way out, as well as her way in.

Markets are now tanking

Thats not strictly true.

The market reaction is to the person who might replace her.

They are likely to be even less competent and less likely to be able to adhere to any fiscal rules / keep borrowing under check.

ArtTheClown · 02/07/2025 13:54

If you can save 20k a year, you're not a sensible saver.
You're rich

Not necessarily. You might be absolutely scrimping and going without because you're saving towards something important like a house deposit. Very far from rich.

I have already posted that - you need to read the whole thread.

lighthouseahoy · 02/07/2025 13:55

Silly cow. Behaving like this in public is just poor. She adds fuel to the fire that politics isn't for women and is a men's game. She should show a little self control or not turn up. Embarrassing.

Because generally people, especially in senior public facing roles, manage to keep their shit together and stay calm and composed in front of others then let it out at home. She is crying because she f'd up and got berated in public.

Internet Relentlessly Bullies Human Being

Human Being Shows Emotion.

Kreepture · 02/07/2025 13:56

If its a personal matter then i'm sorry she is going through whatever it is. I would say she probably should have thought twice about sitting behind Kier in full view of the worlds cameras the day after such a spectacular party own goal.. but maybe she didn't have a choice.

My feelings on the party and what they've done stand.

FloofyBird · 02/07/2025 13:57

I feel for her. Mainly because I feel the women are scapegoated far worse than the men in Parliament. Glass cliff situation.

pinkingshears · 02/07/2025 13:57

EasternStandard · 02/07/2025 13:36

Even the markets can see it.

I don't like to see anyone in distress like that in their workplace.
I see that a statement has been put out that RR was upset due to personal issues. That can happen to any of us. She may have a sick parent/child/pet or another sudden worrying thing going on. OR she may be so gutted by what is happening in Labour re policies she couldn't hold that back.

Either way, Bad-Enoch (as my teens call her) will put the boot in I imagine.
I wonder if RR will be able to carry on now or will resign to 'spend more time with family' (as per so many male Tories who were caught out in John Major's era)?

BoredZelda · 02/07/2025 13:57

Truly horrendous to see the responses here about a woman crying whilst doing her job. If you haven’t ever been in that position, lucky you. It happens, it doesn’t mean you are weak, or bad at your job, or unprofessional or any of that bullshit, it means you are human.

She has been treated appallingly by the media, not about her politics, but personally. It reeks of misogyny. It’s ok to disagree with her policies, but posting gleefully about her showing some emotion is a shitty thing to do.

The whole WFP thing has been whipped up to a ridiculous frenzy. Breaking the hold that pensioners have over governments is long overdue. People want no tax rises, no addition to the deficit, no cuts in welfare, but more money in pretty much everything. She is in an impossible position after the Conservatives fucked the country, and anyone who thinks they could do a better job should step right up. And anyone who thinks Farage or Badenoch would lead the Country to prosperity are living in cloud cuckoo land.

But hey, keep on picking holes in every fucking thing this government does, I’m sure we can withstand the uncertainty of another leadership race, followed by a couple of years of people whining that the “unelected” PM has no mandate, bringing us to another general election where the one trick pony Reform take over and we fall even further into the shitter.
