Two Tier’s days are numbered

Starmer will be gone by this time next year.

This government is imploding right before our eyes, despite a huge (but shallow) majority. People didn’t vote for Labour, as much as they voted against the diabolical Tories in the last election.

Coupled with that, the calibre of MPs in general, but especially the new Labour MPs is shockingly low. These are people who have never had real jobs, and found themselves accidentally in charge of the country. Most them would struggle to use a calculator, let alone understand how the economy works.

Bond markets are already punishing ‘Rachel from accounts’. Cue the insults about misogyny despite the fact that calling her from accounts is an insult to those who actually work in accounts. Gilts are already above when Truss was in charge, meaning the situation is worse. Crazy tax hikes are on the way. Top rate taxpayers are leaving the country in droves.

Boat crossings are at a record high. Unemployment is up, inflation is on the increase. The country is at very real risk of recession.

If Starmer falls, his replacement candidates are terrifying. It’s possible the government could fall within 2 years or so. The chances of Reform getting into power will increase many fold if there is a snap election in that timeframe.

Wonder if the economically illiterate, constantly wanting to constantly shake the magic money tree, are ready for Reform.

I always think it's very telling when people parrot ridiculous nicknames for MPs. People who say 'Two Tier Kier' for example, sound as thick as mince.

I agree he has been a complete let down, but I would vote for the raving loony monster party before letting Reform get in.

Rather the economically illiterate, than the Tommy Robinson, protect our kids, St George's flag loving illiterate.

@ColinOfficeTrolley , just because you assert something as fact it does not make it so. It’s actually extremely lazy (and importantly erroneous) to brand all those who have a different viewpoint to you as ‘thick’. It reflects rather badly on your ability for reasoned argument.
I do understand why people employ this tactic though you’re all panicking over the outcome of the next General Election. It’s a quite clever ruse, no one wants to be regarded as thick, illiterate or ignorant and so you and those like you repeatedly state that those who support something you oppose, in this case Reform, possess all those negative and undesirable traits. I imagine you hope that it will put people off even considering Reform as an option.
Did you as a child encounter the story of The Emperor’s New Clothes? It only takes one small voice to speak the truth, one brave or innocent soul for everyone to acknowledge it. That voice has spoken, the truth is out and you cannot now silence it. Roll on 2029. 😉

It’s embarrassing that even now that is their only intellectual answer. Howling usually incorrectly that the poster is a bot. Of late it’s now ‘reform’ bot added for variety.

Yep

I think the “bot” thing gets thrown from all corners of the political spectrum. I definitely don’t like it when people do it. I quite enjoy…or at least like to reflect on everyone’s views and opinions because otherwise I’m just in my own little social echo chamber. I do think you’re wrong though about there being a lack of intellectual debate. I’ve seen some good and thoughtful posts from all sides on here in the last few days.

These people have learnt nothing from the ‘basket of deplorables’ episode. And that was nearly 10 years ago. They keep doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Insulting the electorate never works out well. Watch the laugh on the other side of their faces when Reform wins big.

You insist it's Labour supporters who notice bots and shills. I'm not a Labour supporter, I've said that, and still you insist they're all out to get you.

Not me. Unless you’re saying you did mean that?

I have picked you and others up on using it generally for other posters.

And said it's Labour supporters.

It's 2025. The insistence that there are no bots posting on sites like this is naive. Shills too of course, it's how the world works now. We have to keep up.

Take it up with mnhq in the specific posters you mean then.

There are a number of far right trolls posting on these boards.

Anyone who describes the current Labour government as 'far left' is not a serious person. They're either a witless teenager who's been radicalised by social media, a troll, or someone who's spent so much time reading the Daily Mail/Telegraph/Express/The Sun, that they've completely lost touch with reality.

bombastix · 02/07/2025 16:19

Agree on far left @Sabire9

This government is nowhere close to that. People who say it is have no idea what that really looks like in practice

@Sabire9 , you are quite correct our present excuse for a government are not far left. Perhaps the ‘trolls’ to whom you refer are a bit miffed to be called ‘far right’ which they clearly are not. The irony. 🙄

I haven't been impressed yet at all. However, nothing has been as bad as the last at least five years of Tory insanity so it is a marked step up from that. It's a lot of mess to unpick.

Lord help us if they don't start sorting themselves out and we end up with reform (we will then find out what incompetent looks like). I can't believe Labour didn't have a more clear coherent plan given the 100 years in the wilderness.

It isn’t the lack of a plan it’s a lack of money and promising not to put up taxes - but if they hadn’t proised not to put up taxes they might not have got in. Or at least not with a big majority -which now proves could have been a good thing. As the nba kbenchers are blocking any progress.

Yes I agree. It’s part of the Reform spiel on all social media backed by shady donations.

What's the definition of "far left " though?Kemi Badenoch got called far right fairly frequently so it's hard to know where the Overton window is.

People are bad at hearing other views. It always ends with a troll accusation.

Nickisli1 · 02/07/2025 16:52

I've been disappointed with labour, BUT they are a million times better than the alternative (awful farage or badenoch) and i think we are extremely fortunate in the UK when compared to places like USA. It seems insane to me that anyone who is unhappy with labour would vote for farage who will double down on all the negative things

I'm a working person, nailed down by tax, running a small business in the private sector. I employ people. I don't claim benefits. I'm not an illegal immigrant.

Unfortunately, modern Labour doesn't represent people like me. It's not a government that works for people like me. It works against me. So the alternative would naturally be better

There are.

Obviously not everyone commenting on everything is a troll, but it’s very hard to know which is which sometimes, and there are enough trolls to have a profound effect on the views of others.

The “everyone hates Labour” myth is self perpetuating unfortunately- the trolls and bots start posting and commenting and others thing that’s the “correct” point of view to take, and jump on.

You say that but you genuinely have no idea of tge alternatives because Farage and reform have not published policies (its all rhetorical arguments about 'broken britain') and neither have Badenock and tories. You are making an assumption that there is a better alternative

I’m a working person paying a lot of tax. I don’t feel “nailed down” by tax. I feel nailed down by what Kwarteng and Truss did to interest rates!
