DH not changed bedding for 4 weeks

He's in a separate bedroom. Flithy f**ker not changed his bed for 4 weeks, so this morning I asked him if he was thinking of changing his sheets as he's been in them for 4 weeks.....he doesn't have a clue how long they've been on....If I had not mentioned it, I wonder how long he'd have kept them on.
He's in our son's room and he's coming back end of July so have ordered some nice new bedding for him 😄

Gosh I'd gross most of mumsnet out with how little I change my sheets. I'm not gonna say. They get changed more often than if DH was left to his own devices though hahaha.

I wait until they are walking and can change themselves.

irrelevantdaughter · 01/07/2025 16:15

Haven’t changed my bedding in the last six months or my bath towels in the last year. Can anyone beat that for level of disgustingness.

Zov · 01/07/2025 16:16

In this weather that's grim af!

I change ours weekly at the moment. And wash pillow cases every 3rd day.

LlynTegid · 01/07/2025 16:17

Disgusting. Even in the middle of winter.

Oh god help us.............look she said he works because of his family so i said so he wouldnt bother to work if he didnt have one then. Its quite straightforward

But why is having a family the only impetus to work? Quite straightforward question too I think. I'm so confused 😂 gonna park up here I think.

Got bedsheets to change 🤣

Still not offering an opinion re water shortage and state of the planet then? Or any actual evidence that over washing does anything other than allow some a false position of superiority based on ‘cleanliness’ but no evidence on health.

This thread is so depressing. We are in a heatwave which most evidence suggests is part of planet warming due to human activity from over consumption. Using the amount of water we use for over washing activities is so selfish. I am assuming most on here have children. This is the planet we are gifting them.

I wash towels and bedding every 7-10 days
still well under the usual water usage for one person
probably the fact I barely wash my car makes up for it

quite comfortable with that water usage, short showers, and not leaving the tap running for cleaning teeth etc

me washing my towels less often doesn’t even make a dent in the people having 30 min showers, washing cars, watering gardens, filling up pools plus the water leaks etc

Hedjwitch · 01/07/2025 16:20

Towels weekly,bedding whenever I remember.

Verv · 01/07/2025 16:21

Bedding weekly, towels twice a week.

Dont give a shite about the planet if the alternative is stinking like lanolin through a lack of washing.

Gowlett · 01/07/2025 16:23

I made a thread about sweaty man sheets & everyone says I was wrong to mention it to him… I sleep in the other room too!

Oh jeeze, don't get Mumsnet started on washing towels. The 'every use' crowd will come on and send this thread batshit.

🤣😂🤣

Sounds like I win. Maybe that’s why I have no friends though?

Maybe your nose needs the nasal equivalent of an MOT… 😱

You are being ridiculous. We are heading towards a country wide water shortage, not to mention damage to planet with overuse of detergents. I think people who push an agenda to constantly wash things (washing towels every week!) are utterly selfish with the planet’s limited resources. But worse they then start to try and make the rest of us feel ‘unclean’. Ridiculous.

Surely you mean washing towels every day, not week?

I don’t have much sense of smell so that helps

Gloriia · 01/07/2025 16:00

Unless they have a single bed they'd have plenty of space. Many of us have had major surgery you don't need a double bed all to oneself.
Fine sleep separately but the sheet checking is ott.

You're being ridiculous. Everyone's situation and recovery is different, just because you didn't need a bed to oneself, doesn't mean the same applies to OP. Nice of you to give her permission to sleep separately though.

Cattery · 01/07/2025 16:34

Makingpeace · 01/07/2025 15:05

Almost...? 🤔

Some every day, some twice a day, some every other day?

Depends. Obvs not twice a day. After two uses a day

Tontostitis · 01/07/2025 16:40

Kateb12 · 01/07/2025 13:19

Unless he shits or pisses the bed it's not that big a deal.

get off your high horse.

I'd not have sex with a man who slept in the same sheets for 5 weeks it's grim and a very big deal

Isn't washing towels every week pretty standard? I wash mine more than that and I consider myself to be pretty eco conscious. Stinky towels are a false economy as you don't want to have a shower then rub yourself with something that smells fausty.

Your towels are probably evolving into their own lifeforms, like the curry in Red Dwarf....

Boomer55 · 01/07/2025 16:45

If he’s in another bed, for whatever reason, his sheets aren’t your major problem. 🙄

Lakeyloo · 01/07/2025 16:46

Outofthemoonlight · 01/07/2025 15:23

One of life’s little pleasures is getting between freshly laundered sheets after having had a shower and dried off with a clean, fluffy towel… 😎

@Outofthemoonlight mine too, fresh off the line. If I was rich and lazy (and if it wasn't so bad for the environment, of course) I would pay someone to put clean sheets on my bed every day !

Doitrightnow · 01/07/2025 16:47

Once a month is fine for me. I don't keep track but like to wash them straight after my period.

I don't wash towels often either.

I don't know anyone who has caught any diseases from this.

I'd leave DH to it; he's the one sleeping there.
