DH not changed bedding for 4 weeks

He's in a separate bedroom. Flithy f**ker not changed his bed for 4 weeks, so this morning I asked him if he was thinking of changing his sheets as he's been in them for 4 weeks.....he doesn't have a clue how long they've been on....If I had not mentioned it, I wonder how long he'd have kept them on.
He's in our son's room and he's coming back end of July so have ordered some nice new bedding for him 😄

My DH has been in same sheets since October last year

In his own bedroom

manicpixieschemegirl · 01/07/2025 21:29

Not changing your sheets for weeks is revolting and I can’t abide the whole ‘you don’t have to sleep in it so leave him to it’ rubbish. I wouldn’t tolerate anyone stinking up any room in my home and I guarantee that bedroom is absolutely bowfin. No one would be using the same damp, fusty towel for a week either.

TwigletsAndRadishes · 01/07/2025 21:30

I am beginning to understand why so many of you have separate bedrooms....

cumbriaisbest · 01/07/2025 21:31

I can't comprehend. Somebody uses a towel once and washes it?

I sometimes use it for more than a week. But it’s isn’t damp as I hang it up to dry properly every day.

Zov · 01/07/2025 20:46

Every other day? 😂

Fook dat shit! Couldn't be faffed with that.

NO-ONE needs to change the bed linen every 2 days. No. NO-ONE!

Well definitely we do!
y husband is a sweat box and he’s bold, so his pillows are very frequently washed too!!M

celticprincess · 01/07/2025 21:39

I’m with the sleep in PJs (and socks as I have bad circulation in my feet) and change those frequently, so the bedding doesn’t really get body sweat and oils. I sleep alone as single in a king size bed. Don’t change bedding as often as many people here. Bedding gets washed more in summer when I can get it out to dry as I don’t have a dryer.

BexAubs20 · 01/07/2025 21:03

Wtf 😬 I wash my towels after each use!!

So do I!
I wash 2 bath sheets every day and also a hand towel, a flannel and tea towels!

Yeah, that is OCD level of cleaning.

Why are your towels so damp and fusty? Do you live in a rainforest? I’ve never had a damp and fusty towel in my life. I use them, I hang them up, they dry. Once a week I wash them.

It's a 'new one' because it's totally made up.

I mean it might be made up but not by me
it was trending on twitter for a while

Missyk25 · 01/07/2025 21:42

I was my covers every 2 weeks , it’s just me in my bed , single , & shower every day ..
Why do you guys sleep in separate rooms ?

Zov · 01/07/2025 21:47

@beforetherain20 YOU may not have made it up, but it's still a load of nonsense. (And like most others here, I have never heard this garbage before.)

BillyWilliamTheThird · 01/07/2025 21:49

Meh. DH has been in charge of laundry for the last month while I’ve been working two jobs so I have no idea how long it’s been. When I’m in charge it’s every three weeks. I quite like our stinky pit. No one else sleeps in it so WGAF?

You are being ridiculous. We are heading towards a country wide water shortage, not to mention damage to planet with overuse of detergents. I think people who push an agenda to constantly wash things (washing towels every week!) are utterly selfish with the planet’s limited resources. But worse they then start to try and make the rest of us feel ‘unclean’. Ridiculous.

Yeah washing towels that infrequently is both filthy and unhealthy

Why you probably aren't washing your towels often enough

The towels we dry ourselves with get a lot of use and pick up a lot of microbes along the way. But how long should you wait before throwing them into the laundry?

I wash the bedding twice weekly.
my husband would expect me to

he works hard, it’s the least I can do for him

Sorry I’m a bit bored
i actually live alone and dislike men 😄😄😄😄

Fibrous · 01/07/2025 22:19

I wash stuff when it smells. Not on a rota.

RobertaFirmino · 01/07/2025 22:39

For me, weekly sheet changes are done because getting into a fresh, clean bed in a clean nightie after a bath/shower is one of my favourite things.

There's no need for all this defensive 'people who change often must be really, really sweaty' bs or all the 'I will report you to Greta for ecocrime!'. Nor is there a need for the less frequent to be called all sorts of names. We could all do more for the environment, we all sweat and we all do something that others might find unpalatable. None of us are perfect.

Cooroo · 01/07/2025 23:49

Falingoth · 01/07/2025 14:59

We probably wash ours every 3-4 weeks. Honestly can't be arsed doing it more often than that.
If I end up with some hideous skin condition as a result of it I'll find this thread and write a long emotional post about how I wish I'd listened etc.

Except I probably won't, because I'll probably be fine.

This!

Apologies then! But it seems unlikely they actually get like that after 2 weeks…mine certainly don’t.

I never said they did!

I am too tired to look at it now but she said something like she changes them when they get 'icky & greasy'
