DH not changed bedding for 4 weeks

He's in a separate bedroom. Flithy f**ker not changed his bed for 4 weeks, so this morning I asked him if he was thinking of changing his sheets as he's been in them for 4 weeks.....he doesn't have a clue how long they've been on....If I had not mentioned it, I wonder how long he'd have kept them on.
He's in our son's room and he's coming back end of July so have ordered some nice new bedding for him 😄

Eh, I do every fortnight but occasionally I miss a couple of weeks if I'm busy/away and am probably at a month before it's changed. Nobody dies.

I agree with this. I will change the pillow cases if I cant be arsed to change the whole bed after a fortnight, but its not a big deal to leave it a few weeks. Dp and I shower everyday and we don't do overly manual jobs or sweat excessively.

Cheezus. I bet it smells like a builder's hairy bollocks in your bed.

😂

Do you not think she might have noticed this and changed them if this was the case?

Frauhubert · 01/07/2025 20:52

I am late to this slumber party but my story will beat y’all 🤝
my friends husband was left to his own devices during covid, he had to move to the US for work and she stayed in Europe. He was visiting every few months but she never went there.
3 years into this inter continental separation, she moved to America to be with him and discovered a house of horrors on arrival.

Our friendship group always knew he was a slob but it turned out he was so much more…
He didn’t clean anything during these 3 years, did not take rubbish out, only put bags in the garage. There was grime, dirt and dust on everything, rubbish in every single corner of the house and yes… he did not change his bedsheets for 3 years 💥

Errrrm, I was joking... Confused I was inadvertently ribbing the (few) posters who are obsessive about changing the bed linen 2-3 times a week and calling people filthy skanks if they 'only' change them 2-3 times a month

tweettweetboom · 01/07/2025 20:55

My other half is in a separate bed and he changed his once last year. This year, so far, since Christmas, he's washed them once! 🤑

@WeylandYutani

why after your period had finished?? What’s the relevance of that?

Seriously? I'm guessing you are a very single man.

Probably linked in to the whole thing about white people don’t shower properly, don’t wash their legs etc

Thats a new one on me

It's a 'new one' because it's totally made up.

I'd not have sex with a man who slept in the same sheets for 5 weeks it's grim and a very big deal

Its easy, you just chuck the duvet aside and climb on, surely?

Long ago an ex never bothered to change the bedding his spare room, it was filthy my DC had to sleep with a towel on the pillow and one on the sheet, towels I bought from my home. Filthy animal

Why on earth were you making your children sleep there at all?! That desperate for a man you opted for a "filthy animal" and, knowing how filthy it was you actually brought towels from HOME to put your children to bed in his filthy?!

That is waaaaay worse than him being filthy. Poor kids.

Well, it is my experience. They're not fine. I don't like smelly towels, and as people use them to dry their bums, think they need washing pretty regularly. So there you go.

Wtf 😬 I wash my towels after each use!!

Totally unnecessary

TomatoSandwiches · 01/07/2025 15:28

I've tried sleeping on towels but I still soak all the way through, I mean I'm dripping from every part of my body, it's disgusting, sometimes I wake up and my finger tips are pruned.
Any helpful suggestions welcome, no one wants to be stripping and making up a double bed everyday do they.

HRT is the way to go.

You're kidding yourselves if you think your bedding is fresh and clean after a few weeks. Most people sweat a litre of sweat every night. It dries on your skin, clothes and bedding.
Not even mentioning the dead skin, bacteria and dust mites that live on it all.

Yes I must admit I do too. I don't judge people who don't, but when I use a towel for a shower, I then pop it in the wash basket. I only use small light hand towels though, compared to my DH who uses a massive bath towel - 4 X the size and weight. So it's sort of like I'm only using a quarter of a towel each shower really.

Makes sense in my head. Blush

I also put them on a very quick wash (as they only need a rinse through!) and I dry my washing - most of the year - on the line under the carport. (No tumble drier.)

FFS why do you care? You are very over-invested (on this thread) in what other people do! (Same goes to a small handful of others on this thread.)

Get a life!

but why?
If you have had a shower then you are clean. You are wiping a clean body. Why are you cleaning a clean towel that has wiped a clean body?

nope, I’m a married woman! I just don’t time changing my sheets with my period 🤷‍♀️
for one thing I want to change my sheets more frequently than once a month

well okay, but surely you can understand the connection between finishing a period and feeling ready to change the sheets?

KmcK87 · 01/07/2025 21:25

4 weeks is gross. Threads like these always make me realise how many people are unaware of how bad they must smell to others.
I don’t really let mine go longer than 2 weeks but even at that point I’m aware they’re starting to smell a bit musty and me and DH are both shower before bed types.
