Grossed out by new partner walking in when I was showering

I have a fairly new partner, my first after my 10 year marriage ended. I stayed at his for the first time last night and went to have a shower this morning (no lock on the door). A few minutes in my partner walked in and used the loo!! He was sat there trying to talk to me and I didn’t know where to look. When I said afterwards I didn’t expect that he said it shows how comfortable he is around me and that his past relationships have always been like that so it’s just normal these days.

I can tell you in my entire marriage my ex never walked in on me to use the loo and vice versa! I found him sitting there and ‘dropping off’ a right turn off to be honest!

No. Just no. I’m ridiculously relaxed but that is just revolting, even more so the first time you stayed over 😳

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 28/06/2025 17:19

Our bathroom door is permanently open. It only gets shut if there's guests 😂. We do give each other some privacy but have been known to chat across the landing when one is on the throne 😂.
Wouldnt have done in the early days though were 2 kids and half a pregnancy in these days!!!!!!!

Catwoman8 · 28/06/2025 17:19

Ewwww no I wouldn't like that either , its definitely not as normal as he is saying

YesButNoButMayybee · 28/06/2025 17:19

We're a very free, open, intimate couple and we still have never had a poo in front of each other! There's just no need.

I'd be really pissed off if a man decided that since he was comfortable enough going to the toilet in my presence that it automatically follows that I'd be okay with having to endure his bodily functions and their smells. No thanks!

BlueRin5eBrigade · 28/06/2025 17:19

15 years married and my husband has never dropped a load with me in the room. If I was in the shower and he needed the loo he'd ask me to finish up.

HorrorFan81 · 28/06/2025 17:20

Me and DH will do a wee whilst the other is in the room (but we asked each other early on jf thats ok). But never a poo. Absolutely grim. If you want to see him again tell him thats a boundary for you

BobbleHatsRule · 28/06/2025 17:21

Yuk

Bumdrops · 28/06/2025 17:21

Omg
you are having a shower and he comes in and is having a POO
you are breathing in the poo particles
exposed to his innards
he wipes his asshole while you can eyeball him ??
has he no dignity ???
out of order

Highsmithery · 28/06/2025 17:21

We’ll have a piss in front of each other all the time, but taking a shit is private.

GoldMoon · 28/06/2025 17:21

Not normal , especially when you are at the early stage of your relationship .
I've been with mine 25 years and we have wee'd occasionally , but a poo ? No way !

Crikey, its just a bodily function. If you have sex then seeing him on the loo isn’t weird.

Speak for yourself!

a wee I wouldn't care, but I don't want to see/hear/smell him having a poo while I shower!

Sorry, but it is.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 28/06/2025 17:23

Even the bloody cat has more decorum than that here.

It means you'll never be able to have a relaxing bath alone, as he'll be insisting upon the door being unlocked and coming in.

HelenaJl · 28/06/2025 17:11

Yeah! I messaged on my friends whatsapp group and a couple of them said their husbands do it too and they don’t mind! I feel like the dating game has changed quite a bit 😂

Edited

It's only changed if you put up with that sort of thing!!

it's gross & that hasn't changed!

Zanzara · 28/06/2025 17:24

Dump him seems the appropriate thing to do.

ASheepNamedBagel · 28/06/2025 17:25

Fuck that.

I don’t even let my DH use my en-suite at all. He can poo elsewhere.

I would never have sex with my husband again if I saw him on the toilet.

Gloriia · 28/06/2025 17:25

That is just so very weird. I'd dump him solely on this tbh op. Massive invasion of your privacy, massive overstepping every social etiquette there is 🤮.

RowsOfFlowers · 28/06/2025 17:25

I am married, and my partner and I don’t do this!!! We might go for a wee if desperate, but absolutely not for a poo - boundaries!!!

SkibidiSigma · 28/06/2025 17:25

Just no. A wee is fine if necessary, but I would not like a poo (unless absolute - about to shit himself - emergency) and especially not from a new partner.

Yuck! Hard no from me! Been with dh over 20 years and never even been in the bathroom at the same time - let alone used the loo! Gross! I like to maintain a bit of mystery lol!

crumpet · 28/06/2025 17:26

Absolutely not something I would like!

BashfulClam · 28/06/2025 17:26

Ew no. In 18 years we have never observed the other on the loo. Pees and poos are done in privacy.

Profpudding · 28/06/2025 17:27

Vile

Shesellsseashellsnotinmystreet · 28/06/2025 17:27
